This year's highly anticipated music festival Coachella returned with full enthusiasm and now rapper Milli, whose real name is Danupha Khanatheerakul, has become a world sensation for her performance.
Mili made her debut at the music festival and also become the first solo Thai artist to perform at the indie rock music festival.
What is Mango sticky rice
Mango sticky rice is a traditional Thai dessert, which consists of sweet rice with coconut milk and is served with fresh mango. It is believed that people eat the dish during the humid months to keep themselves cool.
Surge in sales!
Ever since Milli's performance, the sales of the traditional recipe have skyrocketed in Thailand and elsewhere. In the country's capital Bangkok, dozens of delivery riders were seen standing in the queue in front of the known vendor called Mae Varee to fulfil the high demand.
"We had to shut down the apps in order to catch up with the orders before resuming it again. We've been turning it on and off, on and off throughout the day," Thanyarat Suntiparadorn, 29, the owner of Mae Varee told Reuters.
Dish on UNESCO's cultural heritage list
After Milli’s viral performance, Thailand's Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha said that Culture Ministry is considering registering the traditional dish on UNESCO's cultural heritage list, local media TPBS reported, as per Reuters.
