Underground shelters
Taiwan has already prepared a number of designated shelters for people to take cover in case of a missile attack by China which include underground subway system and subterranean shopping centers.
Total number of shelters
The capital of Taipei currently has around 4600 such shelters which can take care of roughly 12 million people, according to the data provided by the authorities.
Citizens concerned
"Having shelter is very necessary. We don't know when a war might come and they are to keep us safe," Harmony Wu told Reuters at the venue near a Taipei subway station.
Websites and apps
The location of all the designated shelters were provided on the official website of the Taipei government. They have also launched a new app to help the people in times of crisis.
Government order
The authorities are required by law to keep the shelters clean and open but they don't have to be stocked with supplies like food and water. (Text: Reuters)
