Israel
Israel claims a higher smartphone market penetration than the United States of America, with three-quarters of Israelis owning one. With broad 4G LTE and 5G network coverage, most carriers provide generous data allocations. The average cost of 1GB of data here is USD 0.04.
Italy
The cost of data in Italy is among the lowest in the world thanks to a dozen or so well-known providers. Nearly 95 per cent of people now have access to 5G, which joins the widely used 4G. Italy has the second-lowest prices, with 1GB typically costing USD 0.12 there.
San Marino
Italy's neighbour San Marino was the first European country to have a 5G network, developed by Italian network TIM, and it also has 100 per cent 5G coverage, the mobile data prices ranking third cheapest at USD 0.14.
Fiji
Fiji, an isolated island nation, has two mobile networks, both of which offer 4G and expanding 5G coverage over the island, as well as a wide selection of high-volume data plans. Fiji is the least expensive country in Oceania and the fourth least expensive country in the world, with an average 1GB of data costing USD 0.15.
India
India has claimed the spot at number five on the list immediately after Fiji. For one GB of data, the average price in India is $0.17, or INR 14.
The nation experiences a high demand for data due to a population that heavily depends on mobile data. Providers are now offering enticing discounts as a result of the spike in demand.
Since India has pushed for digital empowerment, mobile data has reportedly reached even the most rural regions of the nation, which has led to a rise in demand, claims International Business Times.
The most expensive countries
Saint Helena is the most expensive place in which to buy mobile data. There, 1GB costs USD 41.06 on average, which is more than a thousand times more expensive than in the Israel which offers the cheapest mobile data.
According to average prices for 1GB of mobile data, Saint Helena($41.06), the Falkland Islands($38.45), São Tomé and Príncipe ($29.49), Tokelau($17.88), and Yemen are the five most expensive nations (USD 16.58).
The cost of 1GB of mobile data in the US, which ranks 202nd globally, is on average $5.62, making it one of the most costly developed countries in the world.
