Dazzling performance, star spotting and drag act: Inside Summer Olympics opening ceremony

Celine Dion made a shining comeback at the Paris Olympics 2024. The legendary singer concluded the opening Summer Olympics with her performance at the Eiffel Tower. This was Dion's first performance in two years after her stiff person syndrome diagnosis.

Celine took the stage performing the rendition of Édith Piaf’s “Hymne à l’amour'' in the dazzling beaded gown adorned with rhinestones and tassels. 

Lady Gaga took to the stage and kicked off the summer games in a true French way.  The superstar gave a spectacular cabaret performance as she performed Renée “Zizi” Jeanmaire’s “Mon Truc en Plumes” (“My Thing With Feathers”).

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo promoted their upcoming movie Wicked at the Olympics opening ceremony. Grande and Erivo walk out channelling their Wicked characters.

The singer opted for a sleeveless pink ankle-length gown that was a perfect tribute to her character Glinda. Meanwhile, Erivo looked stunning in her character Elphaba’s signature green colour strapless dress. She added drama to her look with a huge cap.

The drag performances from drag queens are drawing significant criticism across social media. 

At the Summer Olympics opening ceremony, a set of drag queens including famous ones earned major criticism for a portion when the 18 performances came together at a table as they depicted Leonardo da Vinci's famous painting of the 'Last Supper'.

Snoop Dogg the 52-year-old rapper, walked out in the Paris suburb of Saint-Denis, carrying the Olympic torch.
