'Bell Bottom' to '83': List of Bollywood films you can finally watch in theatres this year

Here's the list of films confirmed so far for release on the big screen this year. 

Bell Bottom (May 28)

Akshay Kumar's most awaited film 'Bell Bottom' is all set to hit theatres. The espionage thriller set in the eighties also stars Vaani Kapoor, Lara Dutta and Huma Qureshi. The film is directed by Ranjit M. Tiwari.

Ranveer Singh's most awaited project, '83' is finally getting a theatre release. Kabir Khan's sports drama is centered around the Indian cricket team’s 1983 world cup win. In the movie, Ranveer will play the cricketer Kapil Dev while Padukone plays his wife Romi Bhatia and will be making a cameo in the movie.

Jhund (June 18)

Amitabh Bachchan starrer 'Jhund' is based on the life of Vijay Barse, the founder of Slum Soccer. The movie is helmed by Marathi filmmaker Nagraj Manjule, who shot to fame with his Marathi film 'Sairat'. He makes his Bollywood debut with 'Jhund'.

Shamshera (June 25)

Ranbir Kapoor stars in Karan Malhotra's period action dram 'Shamshera', with Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor. In an interview earlier with an agency, Ranbir had said, “Shamshera is not a story of a ‘daaku’, but a film based in the 1800s, it is about a dacoit tribe who are fighting for their rights and independence from the British. There was a great story of heroism, a story rooted in our country which actually happened back then.”

Shershaah (July 2)

Sidharth Malhotra will be seen in biographical action-drama 'Shershaah'. The Vishnuvardhan film is about the late Kargil war hero and Param Vir Chakra recipient Captain Vikram Batra.

Atrangi Re (August 6)

Aanand L. Rai's 'Atrangi Re' is set to have a theatrical release on August 6. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Sara Ali Khan, Dhanush, and Nimrat Kaur in lead roles.

Jayeshbhai Jordaar (August 27)

Ranveer Singh's 'Jayeshbhai Jordaar' will hit the cinemas this August. Helmed by debutant writer-director Divyang, the movie is a humorous entertainer set in Gujarat. Ranveer will be seen essaying the role of a Gujarati man. Ranveer as Jayeshbhai is the hero who will be seen championing the cause of women empowerment in the most entertaining way of story-telling.

Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar (March 19)

Dibakar Banerjee's 'Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar'  is finally getting a theatrical release this March. The film brings back Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra together and both of them represent two completely different Indians.  However, they are united by their mistrust, suspicion, and hatred for each other.

Gangubai Kathiawadi (July 30)

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's highly anticipated film 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' is finally releasing this July. The movie based on a chapter from the book 'Mafia Queens of Mumbai' by author Hussain Zaidi. The movie was earlier scheduled to arrive in theatres on September 11 in 2020 but was delayed due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
