A minor argument took place between BJP`s Maneka Gandhi and her Lok Sabha contest opponent of the SP-BSP alliance, Sonu Singh, on Sunday after the Union Minister alleged that Singh`s supporters were threatening voters.

In the spat, recorded on camera, the two leaders who are contesting from Sultanpur can be seen on either side of a Toyota Fortuner, pointing fingers at each other and talking.

Gandhi can be heard warning her political rival that his "bully-like" behaviour (`dabbangai`) will not work, while Singh said that he has not done any wrong.

Supporters of the `gathbandhan` candidate raise slogans in his support towards the end of the video before the two leaders went their way.

" We were here for the booth inspection and were taking care that there should not be any criminal element at or around the polling booths. One of the persons with Singh is absconding from the prison. These people are threatening and pressurising the people before voting. This is not at all right and acceptable. Everyone has the right to cast their votes freely and peacefully," Maneka Gandhi told ANI.

Voters queued up outside polling booths on Sunday morning in all seven Lok Sabha constituencies of the city where former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit, Union minister Harsh Vardhan and cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir are among those in the fray.

Voting began at 7 am and among the early voters were Dikshit, party's New Delhi candidate Ajay Maken, Union minister Vardhan, BJP's East Delhi candidate Gambhir, and BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) Ram Lal.

Over 1.43 crore people in Delhi are eligible to vote in this election which will decide the fate of 164 candidates, of which 18 are women. There are 43 independent candidates.

Over 80 per cent polling was recorded in eight seats in West Bengal, where BJP's Ghatal candidate and former IPS officer Bharati Ghosh was attacked twice by local people when she tried to visit polling stations in her constituency.&nbsp;

Ghosh suffered minor injuries when a group of women allegedly attacked her when she tried to take a BJP agent inside a polling booth at Keshpur area, officials said.

Following this, bombs were hurled and stones were pelted towards her convoy when she was going to visit another booth at Dogachia in Keshpur after receiving complaints of rigging there. One of her security guards was injured and a vehicle was damaged, they said.

In the politically crucial state of Uttar Pradesh, 54 per cent polling was reported in 14 constituencies. SP president Akhilesh Yadav and Maneka Gandhi are in the fray in the state that sends 80 members to Lok Sabha.

Maneka Gandhi and her rival BSP candidate Chandra Bhadra Singh had a face-off in Sultanpur, with the BJP leader warning him that hooliganism will not work. Singh dismissed her charge.

In Badohi, BJP MLA Dinanath Bhaskar and four others allegedly beat up a presiding officer in the Aurai assembly segment, accusing the official of deliberately slowing the polling process. Poll officials have sought a report on the matter.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;

However, Congress' Rohtak candidate Deepender Singh Hooda, who is seeking re-election for a fourth term, accused Haryana Minister and Rohtak MLA Manish Grover of "intimidating" voters by forcibly entering some polling booths.

Grover, however, rejected the charge claiming that Deepender, who is the son of former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, made baseless allegations in the face of "imminent defeat".

Union ministers Rao Inderjit Singh and Krishan Pal Gurjar are among the 223 candidates in fray in Haryana.

In Jharkhand, an estimated 64.46 per cent turnout was recorded for four Lok Sabha seat and officials said no untoward incident was reported.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;

Madhya Pradesh, which recorded 59.96 per cent turnout, saw several heavyweights contesting the polls. Eight constituencies went to polls Sunday.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;

In Bhopal, Congress veteran Digvijay Singh was locked in a battle with BJP candidate and 2008 Malegaon blast accused Pragya Singh Thakur.

Congress general secretary Jyotiraditya Scindia, who is seeking re-election from Guna seat, is locked in a battle with BJP's K P Yadav, who is contesting his first general election.

Former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and his family members exercised their franchise at their native village Jait, which falls under the Vidisha Lok Sabha seat.

In 2014, the voter turnout in Delhi was 65.07 per cent -- 66 per cent for male and 63.93 per cent for female voters.

A total of 13,819 polling stations have been set up at 2,700 locations in Delhi, with one model polling station in each of the 70 assembly segments.

Social media on Sunday evening had a field day trolling Congress president Rahul Gandhi's brother-in-law Robert Vadra for his tweet wherein he posted a picture of himself with an inked finger and added the emoji of Paraguay's national flag instead of the Indian Tricolour.&nbsp;

In his tweet, which was later deleted, Vadra had urged everyone to step out and vote.&nbsp;

Everyone must step out and vote... we need all support to create a combined future for our loved ones and for a secular, safe and productive future of our country," Vadra's tweet read and sported the emoji of the Lok Sabha elections along with the symbol of Paraguay's flag.&nbsp;

The Election Commission has found no violation of the poll code in Niti Aayog sharing data with the prime minister's office on places where PM Narendra Modi was set to campaign for the Lok Sabha elections.

Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Sandeep Saxena said the commission has disposed of the complaint as the prime minister is exempted from the provision that bars ministers from combining official visits with campaigning.

The exemption to the prime minister was given in October 2014. "It was not a one-time exemption but a standing instruction," Saxena told reporters here.

Sources later said, the Niti Aayog had not shared any political data but district-level data with the prime minister's office (PMO).

The EC had written to Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant on May 4 flagging the allegations made by the Congress and the AAP.

Asking Kant to furnish the reply "immediately", the EC had referred to the allegations that the Niti Aayog has asked officers in various states and Union territories to provide to the PMO write-ups about destinations of the prime minister's campaign.

The EC also responded to a question on the Congress's fresh complaint against information allegedly sought by an officer of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade from the Commerce Ministry on Start Up India, claiming that it was meant to be used for BJP's manifesto.

On the eve of Lok Sabha polls in the National Capital, Delhi Congress chief Sheila Dikshit and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal engaged in friendly banter on Twitter over the former's health.

Dikshit asked Kejriwal why he was spreading rumours about her health.

"Why are you spreading rumours about my health. If you have nothing to do, then come over and have food at my place. You can see how my health is, have food and also learn to fight elections without spreading rumours," she tweeted in Hindi.

A senior Congress leader said Dikshit posted the tweet after learning that volunteers of Delhi's ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) were spreading rumours in Northeast Delhi that she is unable to actively take part in campaigning because of her health.

Dikshit, a three-time Delhi chief minister, is contesting the polls from the North East Delhi seat.

Kejriwal promptly denied having said anything about her health. "When did I say anything about your health? Never. My family has taught me to respect elders. I wish God gives you good health and long life. When you were going abroad for treatment, I had come uninvited to your place to inquire about your health. When should I come to your place to have food?" he wrote on Twitter in Hindi.

Madhya Pradesh: Officer suspended for carrying reserve EVM to his residence

AAP's South Delhi candidate Raghav Chadha said on Sunday that voting in the city-state was a positive sign for his party but the BJP workers had done 'bogus votes'&nbsp;in Sangam Vihar during the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha election.

He also alleged that police and the Election Commission officials helped the BJP in manipulating voters.

Chadha said,&nbsp;"BJP worker are sitting outside the polling station and they are forcing people to vote for the BJP. The police are helping them by providing them with fruit juices."

Earlier in the day, the AAP leader alleged,&nbsp;"At Aruna Asaf Ali school booth in Tughlaqabad extension under Sangam Vihar legislative assembly constituency in South Delhi parliamentary constituency, there is widespread bogus voting being employed by the BJP."

"There is one person who was caught by us voting continuously in the booth. People want to get rid of Ramesh Bidhuri as they are fed up of his abusive behaviour. Due to this factor, BJP is employing unfair means but we would not allow this to continue."

"The person who was engaged in bogus voting has been caught and the police inspector employed at the booth who was lax in carrying out his duty has been removed from here," he said.

She also said that the campaign of the Congress party in Delhi drastically picked up the pace after the roadshow of party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi.

"People's response towards Priyanka ji has been overwhelming. The high turnout of people during her roadshow even amazed us. Our campaign suddenly spiked after the arrival of Priyanka ji and Rahul ji," said the three-time former chief minister.

Resisting from predicting the Lok Sabha result, the octogenarian leader said: "It is a three-sided contest between Congress, AAP, and BJP. But it is only the Congress party which has got an enviable record of bringing development to Delhi during our three terms."

Contesting from North-East Delhi parliamentary constituency, Dikshit expressed concern over the delay in sending slips to the voters in her constituency.

"Voters in my constituency have not received voter slips by now. I have called the officials thrice and they have assured me that the slips will reach in time. Let us hope for the best," said Dikshit.

Instead of taking action against the goons, Ghosh's movements have been restricted and her car, which was vandalised, has been seized by the local administration. This is unacceptable. The TMC goons are engaged in unabated violence against the BJP. This is an act of frustration."

The state CEO has sought reports from the West Midnapore district magistrate about the incidents.

Javadekar also claimed that in Jhargam Lok Sabha constituency, the body of a BJP booth president has been recovered.

Demanding that poll observers should ensure proper deployment of central forces for smooth voting, the Union minister said, "Mamata (Banerjee) says there is an expiry date for the prime minister. But the way they are conducting elections, the amount of frustration, and with the imminent defeat of the TMC, there is an expiry date of the Mamata government."&nbsp;
