<p>A biker was found dead in Morigaon district of the northeastern state of Assam on Sunday (Sep 30) after a wild rhino attacked him near the&nbsp;Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary.</p>

<p>The victim, identified as Saddam Hussain (40), a resident of&nbsp;Kamrup district, was travelling on his motorcycle when the rhino, which had ventured out of the wildlife sanctuary, started chasing him.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A video clip that has since gone viral on social media shows&nbsp;Hussain getting down from his bike and running into the open field as the animal starts chasing him. Passersby tried to save the man and followed the rhino but found him lying motionless.</p>

<p>Police said that the person was declared dead by the doctors on arrival. “Since the movement of rhinos is common in that area, it is possible that he was attacked by the wild creature. We are investigating the matter,” a police officer said.</p>

<p>"The rhino came out of the wildlife sanctuary. We are investigating the incident," a forest official was quoted as saying by news wire agency&nbsp;<em>ANI.</em></p>

<p>The population of one-horned rhinos has seen an uptick in Assam. From a population of 600 in the 1960s, the number has increased to over 3,000 by 2024, according to data released by the Assam government on World Rhino Day.&nbsp;</p>

The petitioner's use of 'yeah' to address the bench irked CJI who said he was "allergic" to the expression, adding that they were not sitting in a "coffee shop".&nbsp;</p>

<p>The apex court was hearing a petition filed in 2018 which sought an in-house inquiry against former CJI Ranjan Gogoi.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"But is it an Article 32 plea? How can you file a PIL with a judge as a respondent," CJI Chandrachud asked the lawyer. Article 32 of the Indian Constitution guarantees citizens the right to seek constitutional remedies when their fundamental rights are violated.</p>

<p>SP Oswal, the CEO of India's largest textile group Vardhaman, is the latest victim of cyber criminals who extorted 70 million rupees from him in an elaborate scheme that put him in a so-called 'digital custody'. Two people have been arrested from the eastern state of Assam in this connection and most of the money recovered.</p>

<p>Speaking to Indian media, 82-year-old Oswal said the fraudsters posed as Indian regulators, investigative agency sleuths, police, and the Chief Justice of India in a fake 'Supreme Court hearing' over Skype, to make him pay for a 'money laundering' case in which he was, according to them, a co-accused along with Jet Airways founder Naresh Goel.<br />

The Ludhiana Police on Sunday (Sep 29) arrested two suspects from Assam. Seven other suspects, from states including West Bengal and Delhi, have been identified. Some 52 million rupees have been recovered from the fraudsters' accounts.</p>

<p>"My ordeal is nothing short of a movie script to make others aware of such fraudsters,” Indian Express newspaper quoted him as saying.</p>

<h2><strong>Here is what happened to SP Oswal</strong></h2>

<p>In the first call on August 27, a fraudser posing as Telecom Regulatory Authority of India official asked him to press nine to prevent disconnection from telecom services. He pressed nine. Then a cyber criminal posing as an official from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)&nbsp;called him about his suspected involvement in the money laundering case against Naresh Goel.</p>

<p>Oswal, who told the paper that he never met Goel in his life, said the fraudsters sent him documents with Mumbai police insignia.</p>

<p>Then the 'CBI team' took him into 'digital custody over Skype' after sending him an order to this effect on his WhatsApp.</p>

<p>"They repeatedly told me not to share anything with anyone as it would be a violation of surveillance rules and I could be imprisoned for three to five years. They started my digital surveillance...and said I could not leave the house without their permission. I never used Skype, nor knew how to. They created my Skype account and started digital surveillance," he was quoted as saying.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Then he was made to appear for a fraudulent Supreme Court hearing over Skype in which one criminal even posed as India's chief justice. “He banged the hammer on the table twice and said ‘Order, Order, please present your case’. I thought he was actually Justice [CJ] Chandrachud as they claimed,” Oswal said.</p>

<p>"They do and say things in such a way that one gets manipulated and believe what they are saying is true. They used to keep me under surveillance even in the night and I was told to keep my phone on the bedside and keep Skype on. I would not get proper sleep as someone watched over me all the time,” Oswal told the newspaper.</p>

<p>After the staged court hearing, a copy of the order was shared on WhatsApp, directing him to transfer money to a so-called Secret Supervision Account.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Oswal made the transactions in order to avoid being arrested.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On August 29, he went out for a hopsital visit, and spoke to a colleague about what happened to him in the preceding two days. The colleague said it was a fraud.</p>

<p>"Later when I confronted the accused as they asked for more money, they threatened me with immediate arrest. They also sent a fake arrest warrant issued by ED Mumbai ordering my arrest within two hours. I said I would prefer to die in police custody but won’t transfer more money,” Oswal told the paper.</p>

Seven other suspects, from states including West Bengal and Delhi, have been identified. Some 52 million rupees have been recovered from the fraudsters' accounts. He pressed nine. Then a cyber criminal posing as an official from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) called him about his suspected involvement in the money laundering case against Naresh Goel. Oswal, who told the paper that he never met Goel in his life, said the fraudsters sent him documents with Mumbai police insignia. Then the 'CBI team' took him into 'digital custody over Skype' after sending him an order to this effect on his WhatsApp. "They repeatedly told me not to share anything with anyone as it would be a violation of surveillance rules and I could be imprisoned for three to five years. They started my digital surveillance...and said I could not leave the house without their permission. I never used Skype, nor knew how to. They created my Skype account and started digital surveillance," he was quoted as saying. I thought he was actually Justice [CJ] Chandrachud as they claimed,” Oswal said. "They do and say things in such a way that one gets manipulated and believe what they are saying is true. They used to keep me under surveillance even in the night and I was told to keep my phone on the bedside and keep Skype on. I would not get proper sleep as someone watched over me all the time,” Oswal told the newspaper. After the staged court hearing, a copy of the order was shared on WhatsApp, directing him to transfer money to a so-called Secret Supervision Account. Oswal made the transactions in order to avoid being arrested. On August 29, he went out for a hopsital visit, and spoke to a colleague about what happened to him in the preceding two days. The colleague said it was a fraud. "Later when I confronted the accused as they asked for more money, they threatened me with immediate arrest. They also sent a fake arrest warrant issued by ED Mumbai ordering my arrest within two hours. I said I would prefer to die in police custody but won’t transfer more money,” Oswal told the paper. <p>India's Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has stated that New Delhi could have given more money to Pakistan than it is about to&nbsp;receive from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) if ties were better between the two bitter neighbours.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Singh was addressing an election rally in the Gurez assembly seat of Bandipora district in North Kashmir when he made the comment.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Modi ji had, in 2014-15, announced a special package for the development of J&amp;K, which has now reached Rs 90,000 crore ($10.74 billion). The amount is much bigger than what Pakistan was seeking from the IMF (as a bailout package),” Singh said.</p>

<p>“My Pakistani friends, why have strained relations, we are neighbours. If we had good relations, we would have given you more money than the IMF,” he added.</p>

<p>Singh said Pakistan was using the financial aid money to fund terrorism which had stalled its economic progress.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“It seeks money from other countries to run a terrorism factory on its soil,” said Singh.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Notably, the IMF board last week approved a&nbsp;$7 billion Extended Fund Facility (EFF) for cash-strapped Pakistan to boost its struggling economy.&nbsp;The $7 billion bailout package was approved after Pakistan promised to overhaul its agriculture income tax, transfer some fiscal responsibilities to provinces and take the most expensive loan in the nation's history.&nbsp;</p>

Mumbai on high alert: Police tighten security amid terror threat warnings

<p>Two terrorists were killed in a joint operation by the Indian&nbsp;Army and police in the Union Territory of&nbsp;Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district on Saturday (Sep 28), officials said.</p>

<p>Three Army personnel and two police officers sustained injuries&nbsp;in the gunbattle, which erupted after the security forces targeted a terrorist hideout.</p>

<p>A large cache of arms, including sophisticated rifles, was also recovered after the encounter, South Kashmir DIG Javed Ahmad Matoo said.</p>

<p>All of the injured security personnel were&nbsp;immediately shifted to a hospital for treatment, where their condition was said&nbsp;to be stable.</p>

<p>In a post on X, the Kashmir Zone Police said that the encounter broke out at the&nbsp;Adigam Devsar area of Kulgam.</p>

"Look at the way they’re asking me about my religion just to visit the temple," he said. He further added, "I am surprised that BJP leaders from other states are targeting me."</p>

I want to ask them in return, what action are they taking against their own partner who is desecrating the Tirumala Temple" he asked, pointing to his successor, Chandrababu Naidu.</p>

<p>In response to Reddy's statements, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) took to social media. "Who stopped? According to the law, I have to sign that I believe that Swami is the one, if you don’t want to do that, then go away.. Who told you not to sign?" the TDP posted on X.</p>

<p>Earlier this year, Mariyam Shiuna, along with two other Maldivian ministers, made derogatory remarks against the Indian prime minister following his visit to Lakshadweep.</p>

<p>The Maldives government quickly distanced itself from these comments by suspending three ministers. Two of the ministers were later removed from office as well. The remarks led to a significant backlash in India, with calls for boycotts of Maldivian tourism.</p>
