<p>T20 world champions India had a special cake-cutting ceremony at the ITC Maurya Hotel, New Delhi on Thursday (July 4) before heading to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Indian team, who were stranded in Barbados following their T20 WC win due to Hurricane Beryl, reached the national capital early Thursday morning and met PM Modi before heading to Mumbai for an open-bus victory parade at the Marine Drive. Ahead of their meet-up with the PM, captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, outgoing head coach Rahul Dravid and the likes had a special cake-cutting ceremony.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The special three-tier cake curated by the chefs of ITC Maurya had the hues of orange, blue and white, representing the colours of India's T20I jersey. <p>Latif further also gave Babar and his opening partner Mohammad Rizwan an ultimatum by saying, "I would give Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan five matches to change their batting approach in T20Is and if they won't, then there should be no place in the team for them."</p>

Bangladesh locked horns with India in a must-win game, at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua, on June 22 and in-form pacer Taskin wasn't named in the playing XI. This raised eyebrows as he had accounted for seven wickets, from five games, till then in the mega event, held in the West Indies and the USA. Later, it was reported that he missed the team bus and, hence, wasn't named in the XI. Now, Taskin has revealed the real reason for missing the all-important game in the just-concluded marquee tournament, eventually won by India.</p>

If the ball had gone for six, the equation would have been five balls, ten runs. We might have still won, but the margin would have been closer," he added.</p>

Hurricane Beryl has hit Barbados after the world cup and the Indian team is stuck there and their return to India is delayed. This means Samson, Dube and Jaiswal are unlikely to be available for selection for Saturday’s opening T20I in Harare.</p>

<p>According to the latest reports, the trio will only return to India on Wednesday evening along with the rest of the squad through a charter flight. It is anticipated that all the players will participate in a road show and will have a dinner with the Prime Minister on Wednesday or Thursday evening. We played on that particular pitch and we won the game, That particular ground as well. I will remember that ground forever in my life and that pitch as well. So I wanted to have a piece of it with me. Yeah, those moments are very, very special. And the place where all our dreams came true. I wanted something of it. With his formidable presence in RCB's batting lineup, Karthik brings a wealth of experience and a profound understanding of the team's ethos, poised to greatly enhance the coaching staff. <p>Rohit played his best innings in the World Cup against Australia, hitting 92 off 41 in the Super 8 match. He was especially severe to Mitchell Starc, hitting him for 29 runs in one over.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Rohit innings was seen by fans as the payback for India's loss in ODI World Cup 2023 final against Australia.</p>

<p>India are also now only the third team to have two or more T20 titles. Apart from the 2024 edition, India had won the inaugural T20 World Cup back in 2007 as well.</p>

<p>India had set South Africa 177-run target to win the 2024 T20 World Cup. India won the toss and elected to bat first in Barbados and scored 176/7 in 20 overs.</p>

<p>As for South Africa, they were ahead most of the time and needed 30 runs in last five overs with Heinrich Klaasen and Miller on the crease.</p>

<p>The chase derailed after Pandya dismissed Klaasen in 17th over and from thereon India came out as eventual winners, holding SA at 169/8.</p>
