A network of cyber-criminals is hijacking YouTube accounts and streaming fake Elon Musk videos to promote bogus cryptocurrency giveaways. These videos are being mass viewed.

One of the most common links to the website is https://elon-x2.live/, which invites people to double their money by sending Bitcoin or Ethereum to the digital-wallet addresses advertised.

The scammers made $243,000 (£194,000) in just over a week. They change names and display pictures of the channels to make them look like official Tesla channels, an American automotive and clean energy company headed by Elon Musk.

Youtube blocked these channels after being alerted and said, "We have strict Community Guidelines prohibiting scams, including Impersonation and hacking."

Tesla owner Elon Musk recently slammed the video streaming platform ‘YouTube’ over unnecessary advertisements on their platform. “YouTube seems to be nonstop scam ads” Elon Musk Tweeted on Tuesday.

Musk targeted YouTube over the number of ads the platforms deliver to the viewers, calling it all a scam. Soon after the tweet was published it gathered a lot of attention from the audience. Fans agreed to Musk and asked him to buy YouTube in addition to his Multi-Million Dollar Twitter deal.

Right after sharing his tweet Musk shared a meme, criticising YouTube for its ads and how the company reacts when there is an obvious scam going all over its website.

In a virtual meeting on Wednesday, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) pressed hard on Pakistan whereby the Pakistani side shared the features of the coming budget 2022-23. The IMF placed major prior actions, including taxation measures, to fetch Rs 7.255 trillion in the next fiscal year for the revival of the stalled USD 6 billion programmes.

The Pakistani government has proposed an outlay of Rs 9,500 billion federal budget. Earlier, at the time of completion of the 6th review under the Imran Khan-led PTI regime, the reform of Personal Income Tax (PIT), was the structural benchmark of the IMF program.

It was agreed that the PIT reforms would be introduced on the occasion of the FY 2023 budget. Now if the Pakistani government deviates from implementing these reforms then it would have to come up with an alternate plan to fetch revenues up to the desired mark in the coming budget.

However, the government showed reluctance to move ahead as desired by the IMF on the occasion of the completion of the sixth review in February 2022 under the PTI-led regime.

The IMF side also expressed concern over the outstanding repayments to Chinese Independent Power Producers (IPPs) under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved the release of Rs 50 billion out of total outstanding dues of Rs 300 billion. Now, the fund is asking about the repayment schedule on this account.

The IMF has also asked about alternate plans to meet the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) envisaged target of Rs7.255 trillion in the coming budget. The IMF has estimated that the FBR's collection would be standing at Rs6,000 billion for the outgoing fiscal year and the FBR would have to collect R$1,255 billion to meet the desired target in the next fiscal year.

With nominal growth of 16.5 per cent, the FBR's collection would touch R$6,700 billion so the IMF is inquiring about the plan for collecting the remaining Rs550 billion for touching the revenue collection of Rs7,255 billion for the next financial year.

Pakistan and the IMF discussed the proposed increase in electricity tariff, subsidies on POL prices, and expected budget deficit for the coming financial year 2022-23. The government has envisaged Rs578 billion for subsidy on electricity as Rs 500 billion subsidies proposed for FY2023.

Pakistan and the IMF remained engaged on one of the toughest rounds of parleys for finalising budgetary figures for the upcoming budget amid the lingering severe macroeconomic and fiscal crisis being faced by the country. This crisis-like situation was aggravated owing to skyrocketing crude oil and commodities prices in the international market.

IMF presses hard for reforms as Pakistan shares upcoming 2022-23 budget features

Abdul Kader Bhuiyan, Secretary of Volunteer Front, a wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) threatened Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with “a repeat of 1975”, referring to the massacre of almost her entire family in a military coup then.

Addressing a rally last week in front of the National Press Club, Bhuiyan called for a ‘repeat of 1975’ against PM Sheikh Hasina’s family. In light of the conditions, nobody in the Awami League government or the country’s intelligence agencies is taking Bhuiyan’s “repeat 1975” call lightly.

“Take up arms and restage another 1975,” Bhuiyan said. However, with no top BNP leader publicly offering any apology for Bhuiyan’s open and unambiguous call to violence, his statement signifies a tacit endorsement from the party leadership to go for an attempted violent overthrow of the Hasina government.

A senior intelligence official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told that Bhuiyan’s call is “both a trial balloon and an indicator of the future”.

The threat by Bhuiyan bears ominous portents of possible violence in the rundown to the June 25 inauguration of the 6.15 km railroad bridge on Padma River, Bangladesh’s biggest infrastructure project so far and one constructed with the country’s own resources.

The ruling Awami League has planned a grand opening with a public rally of one million people on June 25. Intelligence officials told they suspect plans for large scale opposition violence ahead of the bridge inauguration to divert public attention and torpedo the plans for a rally, mentioning Bhuiyan’s threat.

BNP supremo and former PM Khaleda Zia had prophesied that the Padma Bridge project was Hasina’s “pipedream” and “would never be completed”. But now that the Padma bridge, that economists say may add 1.2 per cent to national GDP, is up and running, the BNP-led Islamist opposition may seek to play spoilsport in its inauguration.

Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and almost the entire rest of the family except her two daughters were killed in the 1975 military coup. Hasina and Rehana survived, as they were away in Europe.

Hasina returned to her motherland six years after the 1975 massacre to lead the Awami League and propel it to election victories in 1996 and 2009. She has been in power ever since, presiding over Bangladesh’s Golden Decade of Development which has since the once poor country goes past even giant neighbour India in per capita income, per capita GDP growth and human development indicators.

Hasina has already survived more than 39 attempts on her life, including the heinous grenade attack in 2004 on an Awami League rally, in which around 32 leaders and activists have been killed. BNP’s acting Chairperson Tarique Rahman has been convicted by a court for his involvement in planning the grenade attack.

The officials of the intelligence branch said that the BNP-led Islamist opposition has tried to rake up violent agitations on one issue after another since the Awami League swept the national polls in 2018 on the issue of statues of Sheikh Mujib being un-Islamic to opposing Indian PM Narendra Modi’s visit to Bangladesh.

“Now that the world is talking of Bangladesh’s phenomenal growth history, the opposition wants to divert attention from the Padma Bridge inauguration,” an official said. A plan for a violent campaign to bring down the pro-India Awami League may start now since the national polls are just over a year away.

“Hasina is as popular as her father.., he led the fight for freedom, daughter has led the nation to growth and development. They can be brought down only by violence, so this BNP leader is calling for a repeat of 1975,” said Bangladesh-watcher Sukharanjan Dasgupta, author of “Midnight Massacre” on the 1975 coup.

Awami League leaders believe they cannot be defeated in polls in view of Hasina’s achievements not only in keeping up the economic growth momentum but also in achieving the challenges of Covid-19, climate change and Islamist radical terrorists and militants.

BNP leader calls for ‘repeat of 1975’ massacre in Bangladesh to oust Sheikh Hasina government

Iran on Thursday began removing all the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) monitoring equipment installed under the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, giving a near-fatal blow to the chances of reviving the deal.

France, Britain and Germany condemned Iran, saying the move cast a doubt on Tehran's will to revive the accord." These actions only aggravate the situation and complicate our efforts to restore full implementation of the JCPoA (nuclear deal)," the three countries said in a statement. "They also cast further doubt on Iran’s commitment to a successful outcome."

Iran had warned of retaliation if the IAEA's 35-nation Board of Governors passed a resolution drafted by the United States, France, Britain and Germany criticising Tehran for its continued failure to explain uranium traces found at undeclared sites. The resolution was passed by a crushing majority late on Wednesday.

Iran told the agency overnight it planned to remove equipment including 27 IAEA cameras as of Thursday, which is "basically all" the extra monitoring equipment installed under the 2015 deal going beyond Iran's core obligations to the agency, IAEA Chief Grossi told a news conference.

That leaves a window of opportunity of three to four weeks to restore at least some of the monitoring that is being scrapped, or the IAEA will lose the ability to piece together Iran's most important nuclear activities. "I think this would be a fatal blow (to reviving the deal)," Grossi said of what would happen if that window went unused.

U.S. officials speaking on condition of anonymity said even after the three or four week period Iran could still provide additional information to allow for the nuclear deal's revival. "We are not on death watch (for the next) three to four weeks," said a senior U.S. official, saying the deal could be resurrected, although the longer Iran withheld access the more transparency it would have to give the IAEA.

Indirect talks between Iran and the United States on reviving the 2015 deal have been stalled since March. "You think we would retreat from our positions if you pass a resolution at the (IAEA) Board of Governors? In the name of God and the great nation of Iran, we will not back off a single step from our positions," Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said in a speech.

Since then-President Donald Trump pulled Washington out of the deal and re-imposed sanctions against Tehran in 2018, Iran has breached many of the deal's limits on its nuclear activities. It is enriching uranium to close to weapons grade.

The UK government on Thursday said it was "deeply concerned" after Russian news agencies reported pro-Moscow separatists had sentenced to death two British fighters captured by Russian troops while fighting for Ukraine.

"We're obviously deeply concerned by this. We've said continually that prisoners of war shouldn't be exploited for political purposes," said a spokesman for Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

"Under the Geneva Convention, prisoners of war are entitled to combatant immunity, and they should not be prosecuted for participation in hostilities. So we will continue to work with Ukrainian authorities to try and secure the release of any British national who was serving in the Ukrainian Armed Forces and who are being held as prisoners of war," He added.

The United Kingdom foreign secretary Liz Truss ousts top adviser, Baroness Morrissey, a pro-Brexit banker, who told a radio show she would prefer it if Boris Johnson quit over the Partygate scandal. Morrissey resigned as the office’s lead non-executive director after Foreign Secretary Liz Truss made it clear that she would sack her.

Morrissey stepped down following talks with the department’s permanent secretary Sir Philip Barton. Sources said the Foreign Secretary believed her comments made the job ‘untenable’.

The 55-year-old banker was ennobled by Mr Johnson two years ago, but yesterday she told LBC radio that the Prime Minister was ‘just in the wrong job’.

Morrissey said: ‘Wavering MPs when they saw the booing of the Prime Minister outside St Paul’s (at the Platinum Jubilee thanksgiving service), they would see that he had actually become a liability rather than an asset.

‘I would rather he didn’t (carry on as Prime Minister)... I don’t see any contrition. He said he would bash on, that’s not what we want to hear. Tax cuts one minute after we’ve just raised them, that’s not going to help,’ she added.

Miss Truss is believed to have instructed Sir Philip to sack Baroness Morrissey in the meeting, but she offered her resignation.

A source close to the Foreign Secretary said: ‘Liz instructed Philip Barton to sack Helena. She thought the comments were outrageous and made her position untenable.’

Morrissey ran Newton Investment Management for 15 years and held a senior role at Legal and General, managing assets of almost £ 6 billion.

Last year, Mr Johnson faced calls to sack her after Morrissey put up a tweet which appeared to deny the extent of the Covid pandemic. She wrote: ‘The data shows we are NOT in a pandemic. If people were dropping dead in the street we would notice and not go to M&S and have all those football matches.’

In an apparent reference to the Chinese Communist Party, she added: ‘CCP fake videos started this. It is ridiculous.’

Meanwhile, nine Tory frontbenchers have still failed to voice their loyalty after Monday’s no-confidence vote. Rumours of a snap reshuffle to shore up support for the PM have so far failed to materialise.

She thought the comments were outrageous and made her position untenable.’ Morrissey ran Newton Investment Management for 15 years and held a senior role at Legal and General, managing assets of almost £ 6 billion. Last year, Mr Johnson faced calls to sack her after Morrissey put up a tweet which appeared to deny the extent of the Covid pandemic. She wrote: ‘The data shows we are NOT in a pandemic. If people were dropping dead in the street we would notice and not go to M&S and have all those football matches.’ In an apparent reference to the Chinese Communist Party, she added: ‘CCP fake videos started this. It is ridiculous.’ Meanwhile, nine Tory frontbenchers have still failed to voice their loyalty after Monday’s no-confidence vote. Rumours of a snap reshuffle to shore up support for the PM have so far failed to materialise. One person died and two more were injured, when a fighter jet crashed into homes in central China on Thursday. The plane, an Air Force J-7, "had an accident during training and fell in the vicinity of an airport... causing damage to private homes", according to state broadcaster CCTV.

CCTV said the pilot parachuted to safety and has been transferred to the hospital along with the other injured.
The cause of the crash in Xiangyang, a city in Hubei province, is being investigated, CCTV said.

Footage of the crash site posted online by the Xinhua news agency showed flames sending black smoke billowing into the air from a street in Xiangyang. Several buildings appeared to have been completely flattened in the accident.

Watch: Chinese fighter jet crashes into homes, one dead

Japan on Wednesday criticized Russia's announcement suspending an agreement that allows the Japanese to fish in waters near disputed southern Kuril islands, as relations between the countries deteriorate over the war in Ukraine.

“In the current situation, we are forced to suspend the implementation of the 1998 Agreement until the Japanese side fulfils all its financial obligations,” foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a statement.

The fishing deal has been in place since 1998, allowing Japanese fishing boats to operate around the Russian-held Kurils, which Japan also claims and calls the Northern Territories, in exchange for Japan's payment based on catch quota and other conditions negotiated annually.

A territorial dispute over the islands, known in Russia as the Kurils and in Japan as the Northern Territories, dates back to the end of World War Two when Soviet troops seized them from Japan. The row has prevented the two countries from signing a formal peace treaty.

Its suspension, apparently in response to Japan's sanctions against Moscow for its invasion of Ukraine, raises concern about the safety of Japanese fishing boats in the area. Prior to the agreement, Russian authorities had seized and shot at Japanese boats.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno said it was "regrettable that Russia one-sidedly announced suspending the cooperation in this manner." He criticized Moscow for blaming Japan's failure to fund unrelated development projects on Sakhalin, the largest Russian island in the Pacific.

Matsuno said that Tokyo will pursue negotiations to ensure safe operations of Japanese boats under the pact.
"We will do our utmost to protect the safety of the Japanese fishing operation," he said.
The area is a rich fishing ground for pollack, Okhotsk mackerel and octopus.

The territorial dispute has prevented the two countries from signing a peace treaty formally ending World War II. Russia has already scrapped peace treaty negotiations with Japan in response to the sanctions.

Matsuno criticized Moscow for linking Japan's failure to fund development projects on Sakhalin, which is not part of the territory claimed by Tokyo, to the fishing deal, "as if the Sakhalin projects are conditional to the fishing safety agreement."

Japan has provided development funds for Sakhalin for years as part of its effort to improve ties with Russia. Matsuno acknowledged that Tokyo had not provided its latest payment for Sakhalin projects, but it wasn't immediately clear if it was tied to the sanctions.

Japan quickly joined the United States and Europe in imposing sanctions against Russia and providing support for Ukraine. It fears the crisis may further embolden China to increase its assertiveness in the region.

Japan calls out Russia over suspension of agreement that allows Japan to fish in southern Kuril islands

Thailand becomes the first Asian country on Thursday to legalise the growing of marijuana and its consumption in food and drinks, with the aim of boosting its agriculture and tourism sectors, but smoking pot is still against the law.

"After COVID, the economy going down the drain, we really do need this," said Chokwan Kitty Chopaka, who owns a store selling cannabis gum sweets.

Shoppers queued up at outlets selling cannabis-infused drinks, sweets and other items as advocates of the plant welcomed the reform in a country that has long had a reputation for strict anti-drug laws.

Thailand, which has a tradition of using cannabis to relieve pain and fatigue, legalised medicinal marijuana in 2018.

The government, banking on the plant as a cash crop, plans to give away a million plants to encourage farmers to take up its cultivation. But authorities aim to head off an explosion of recreational use by limiting the strength of the cannabis products that are legal.

The possession and sale of cannabis extracts containing more than 0.2% of its psychoactive ingredient, tetrahydrocannabinol, is not allowed, which will rule out smokers of the drug known as "pot", "weed" and a host of other names, from getting "high".

Cannabis growers have to register on a government app called PlookGanja or grow ganja, another nickname for the spikey-leafed plant. Nearly 100,000 people have signed up on the app, said health ministry official Paisan Dankhum.

Those who break the law can still face jail and fines.

Thailand becomes first Asian country to legalise consumption of marijuana

Indonesian police have arrested Mitsuhiro Taniguchi (47) a fugitive accused of masterminding a lucrative scheme in his native Japan to defraud a government fund offering Covid relief subsidies in Lampung province in the south of Sumatra island late Tuesday.

He was flown to the capital Jakarta, said national police spokesman Dedi Prasetyo.

The Japanese national and several associates are accused of submitting false applications to claim 960 million yen ($7.2 million) in Covid-19 relief funds meant for small businesses, according to Japanese media reports.

He was caught in a joint operation by immigration officers and local police, Prasetyo said, without giving details about the case. It came after the Japanese embassy alerted Indonesian authorities to the whereabouts of a

Japanese national whose passport had been revoked.

Indonesian police in a statement Wednesday said their Japanese counterparts had been "investigating an alleged fraud of subsidies for small businesses affected by the Covid-19 pandemic", but they did not confirm the amount accrued by Taniguchi's brazen scheme.

Tokyo's Metropolitan Police Department had placed Taniguchi on an international wanted list after arresting his ex-wife and two sons on May 30 on suspicion of fraud, Japanese newspaper Asahi Shimbun reported.

Taniguchi will be deported in coordination with the embassy, Lampung immigration official Is Edy Eko Putranto told a press conference where the Japanese suspect was paraded before the media.

Police attache at the Japanese embassy Takayuki Miyagawa told the press conference the fugitive was arrested for "deceiving the Japan government for subsidies regarding Covid-19".

Taniguchi reportedly entered Indonesia in October 2020, several months after the scheme was uncovered by Japanese police. He was living in Jakarta and frequently travelled to do business in Lampung, where he had been staying for a week when he was arrested.

The fugitive was using a limited-stay visa and was working in the country as a foreign investor helping locals to run fish farms, reportedly to raise money to appease his alleged collaborators.
