"We have terminated a number of channels and removed several videos from&nbsp;YouTube&nbsp;in accordance with our community guidelines and applicable laws," a&nbsp;YouTube&nbsp;spokeswoman said in a statement in response to a Reuters question.

The channels taken down include the state network, MRTV, (Myanma Radio and Television) as well as the military-owned Myawaddy Media, MWD Variety and MWD Myanmar,&nbsp;YouTube&nbsp;said.

Thailand's military on Thursday said it was not behind a network of Facebook accounts that the social media giant took down on the grounds they were using deceptive behaviour to influence public debate.

Marking the first time it had taken down Thai accounts alleged to be linked to the government, Facebook said on Wednesday it had removed a Thailand-based network that included 77 accounts, 72 pages and 18 groups on Facebook and 18 accounts on Instagram, citing "coordinated inauthentic behaviour".

Facebook said in a report the operation was linked to the Thai military's Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) and targeted audiences in Thailand's southern provinces, where conflict has flared on and off for decades as insurgent groups continue a guerrilla war to demand independence.

ISOC spokesman Thanathip Sawangsang on Thursday denied the military was involved.

"ISOC is not aware of the takedown of the Facebook accounts as reported in the news. Those were personal accounts not related to ISOC," Thanathip said in a statement.

"ISOC also doesn't engage in operations as reported in the news. We act as a centre for coordination to provide relief and refuge to the people."

The network used both fake accounts to pose as individuals from the area and authentic ones to manage groups and pages, including overt military pages and those that did not disclose their affiliations with the military, Facebook said.

The company said it took action based on the network's deceptive behaviour, which violated its policy against government interference.

It said the action was not based on the content, which included support for the military and the monarchy as well as allegations of violence and criticism of insurgent groups in southern Thailand.

In October, Twitter took down 926 accounts it said were linked to the Thai army that promoted pro-army and pro-government content.

The army at the time also denied links to the accounts.

Maharashtra state's Interior Minister Anil Deshmukh has said that&nbsp;China might have allegedly introduced malware into the electrical infrastructure that resulted in a massive power outage in its capital Mumbai last year, as per the reports submitted by the US-based Recorded Future cybersecurity firm.

A grid failure caused a widespread power outage in the financial and surrounding areas on October 12, 2020, a rare occurrence that disrupted train services in the city of 20 million.

Following the grid failure, Maharashtra's Chief Uddhav Thackeray had ordered an inquiry into the incident. In its report, Recorded Future has alleged China's intrusion in Mumbai's electrical infrastructure.

The malware tracing was done by Recorded Future&nbsp;which is a cybersecurity company founded in 2009 with headquarters in Massachusetts. The company claims that most of the malware was not activated. It&nbsp;may mean that a small proportion of malware was used during the Mumbai power outage.

A Chinese state-sponsored group Red Echo has been held&nbsp;responsible for the Mumbai power outage.

Stuart Solomon, Recorded Future’s chief operating officer, said that the Chinese state-sponsored group Red Echo, “has been seen to systematically utilize advanced cyber intrusion techniques to quietly gain a foothold in nearly a dozen critical nodes across the Indian power generation and transmission infrastructure.”

The report said the flow of malware was pieced together by Recorded Future, a Somerville, Massachusetts, company that studies the use of the internet by state actors. It found that most of the malware was never activated.

Earlier, Chinese hacking group APT10, known as Stone Panda, had identified gaps and vulnerabilities in the IT infrastructure and supply chain software of Bharat Biotech and the Serum Institute of India (SII), the world’s largest vaccine maker.

SII is making the Oxford University-AstraZeneca vaccine for many countries and will soon start bulk manufacturing Novavax shots, while Bharat Biotech plans to export its COVAXIN shot to dozens of countries including Brazil and the Philippines.

Relations between the nuclear-armed neighbours soured in June when 20 Indian and four Chinese soldiers were killed in a Himalayan border confrontation.

Previously, Chinese attackers had injected malware into software updates provided by NetSarang, a legitimate software provider headquartered in the US and South Korea.

They&nbsp;had gained backdoor entry into the network of hundreds of banks, energy companies and pharmaceutical manufacturers.

Unlike&nbsp;Red Echo,&nbsp;Stone panda has a reputation for targeting governments and private sector companies around the world.

In 2018,&nbsp;America's FBI indicted two hackers from Stone Panda who&nbsp;were engaged in global computer intrusions for more than a decade.&nbsp;They stole data from managed service providers.

These are companies that manage the IT&nbsp;Infrastructure of businesses and governments worldwide and more than 45 technology companies.

In at least a dozen American states and government agencies the&nbsp;hackers stole a wide range of data, this includes intellectual property confidential business and tech information.

While these were two separate attacks, there is one detail that unites Red Echo and Stone Panda.&nbsp;Both groups have been linked to the Chinese state.

Britain's competition regulator said on Thursday it has opened an investigation into&nbsp;Apple&nbsp;Inc after complaints that the iPhone maker's terms and conditions for app developers are unfair and anti-competition.

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) announced that it will examine Apple's position regarding the distribution of apps on its iPhones, iPads and other devices in Britain.

Payment policies related to&nbsp;Apple's App Store have for long drawn complaints from app developers as it requires them to use its payment system, which charges commissions of between 15 per cent and 30 per cent.

Apple said in response that it looked forward to working with the CMA to explain how its "guidelines for privacy, security and content have made the App Store a trusted marketplace for both consumers and developers".

The news however comes as Apple also faces a European Commission antitrust probe into its App Store, while the tech titan remains locked in a fierce US legal battle over the matter with Fortnite maker Epic Games.

The App Store is the only way for developers to distribute their apps for use on the US company's devices to the public.

"The CMA's investigation will consider whether Apple has a dominant position in connection with the distribution of apps on Apple devices in the UK," the UK regulator said in a statement.

Last year, the European Commission too had opened a probe into the iPhone maker over App Store commission fee.

Impact on choice and price

The CMA will also examine "whether Apple imposes unfair or anti-competitive terms on developers using the App Store, ultimately resulting in users having less choice or paying higher prices for apps and add-ons".

Apple must first approve all apps before they are placed on the App Store and developers must agree to certain terms.

"The probe has been prompted by the CMA's own work in the digital sector, as well as several developers reporting that Apple's terms and conditions are unfair and could break competition law," the regulator added.

The CMA said complaints highlighted also that Apple required "in-app" features, add-ons and upgrades to use the US group's payment system, rather than any alternative.

Apple charges developers a commission of up to 30 percent on initial app downloads and updates, the CMA said.

"Millions of us use apps every day to check the weather, play a game or order a takeaway," said CMA chief executive Andrea Coscelli.

"So complaints that Apple is using its market position to set terms which are unfair or may restrict competition and choice -- potentially causing customers to lose out when buying and using apps -- warrant careful scrutiny."

The network of Instagram accounts used hashtag and location "poisoning" typically associated with spam or financial scams to drown outposts by protesters, according to Facebook global threat disruption lead David Agranovich.

Some of the Instagram posts suggested people got Covid-19 and died as a result of attending protests, according to samples provided by Facebook.

Facebook reported that 55,000 people followed one or more of the Instagram accounts.

Tens of thousands of opposition supporters took to the streets in January and February to protest Navalny's arrest and President Vladimir Putin's two-decade rule.
