The Taliban authorities on Tuesday in a letter sent to all public and private colleges announced that the ministry put an indefinite ban on Afghan girls attending educational institutions.&nbsp;

Signed by Neda Mohammad Nadeem, the letter read, "You all are informed to implement the mentioned order of suspending the education of females until further notice."

The announcement was confirmed by the ministry's spokesperson Ziaullah Hashimi to AFP.&nbsp;

The ban comes&nbsp;after thousands of female students took university entrance exams across the country.

Universities have been compelled to adopt the new regulations following the takeover by the Islamist group&nbsp;in August last year.&nbsp;

Many such regulations have been imposed on women. These include gender-segregated classrooms and entrances, and women are allowed to attend classes only when taught by female or old male professors.&nbsp;

The majority of female students in the South Asian country have been prohibited from attending secondary schools restricting their access to further education.&nbsp;

India's health secretary Rajesh Bhushan, in a letter to all states, urged them to increase genome sequencing of positive case samples.&nbsp;

"Such an exercise will enable timely detection of newer variants, if any, circulating in the country and will facilitate the undertaking of requisite public health measures for the same," Bhushan said.

According to reports, the variant has already been detected in Germany, Denmark, Belgium, and France.&nbsp;

BF.7 is a sub-lineage of Omicron variant BA.5 and has been named as the strongest one. It is easily transmissible, with a high capacity to cause infection.

A strong 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of northern California, killing at least two people on&nbsp;Tuesday.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The National Tsunami Warning Center said that no tsunami was expected, AFP reported.

The European Competition Commission in a news conference said, "The Commission has decided to accept commitments offered by Amazon. These commitments address our preliminary competition concerns about Amazon practices on its e-commerce marketplace."&nbsp;

The retail company faced three charges, Reuters reported.&nbsp;&nbsp;

In the third case, the retail company agreed to allow the sellers under the prime feature to choose their own logistics and service timings other than itself.&nbsp;

The commission also said that if Amazon breaks any of its commitments it can impose up to 10 per cent of the company's turnover as a fine.

He was also accused of leading authorities on a chase with two of his friends and his girlfriends. The chase ended on Dec 1 after the car crashed into a wooden&nbsp;area.&nbsp;

According to the report, the mother is in critical condition right now.&nbsp;

Being the first-ever surrendering ceremony done in public, it was unknown how the stage was set until 2012 when an Indian war veteran named Brigarider General Sant Singh revealed to Bangladesh's officials Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) news agency that he was the man who arranged the historic ceremony.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Singh, 94, recalling the event said that as the Pakistani commander agreed to surrender, India's Major General JFR Jacob&nbsp;asked him to arrange the event.&nbsp;

He said, "I thought a table and two chairs will be needed for signing the 'instrument of surrender' and so I looked around for a suitable table and the chairs at General Niazi's office."

He added that he was in a rush and did not get the time to select an appropriate corner at the Racecourse.&nbsp;

Years later, Major General Shafiullah, who led the force during the war was asked to set the stage at Racecourse, he realised that the task has already been done.

A new survey on deteriorating mental health of LGBTQ+ youth has revealed that over 50 per cent of transgender and non-binary individuals in the United States seriously considered suicide in the past 12 months. The survey was conducted on a state level&nbsp;and the data was released on Thursday which revealed that states like Texas, Arkansas, New York and California showed high rates of suicide.&nbsp;

The survey led by the American nonprofit organisation Trevor Project showed over 34,000 queer and trans youth between 13 and 24 years of age showed an alarming rate of suicide attempts, depression and anxiety, The Guardian reported.&nbsp;

According to the survey, 44 per cent of LGBTQ+ considered suicide and 14 per cent attempted it. Among the trans and non-binary people, 54 per cent considered suicide and 19 per cent made an attempt.&nbsp;

It also showed that 70 per cent of the LGBTQ+ youth faced discrimination, with 62 per cent saying that they were not able to access mental health care.&nbsp;

The highest rate of trans and nonbinary youth seriously considering&nbsp;to attempt suicide&nbsp;were 56 per cent in Texas, 54 per cent in Florida, 54 per cent in Pennsylvania, 51 per cent in Illinois, and 54 per cent in Ohio.&nbsp;

Additionally, these states reported 16-20 per cent of trans and non-binary youth attempting suicide.&nbsp;

Philippine's defence ministry called Sison the "greatest stumbling block" to peace, adding that his death will end violence.&nbsp;

Sison had been living in the Netherlands after a self-imposed exile following the collapse of peace talks in 1987 when the rebellion claimed lives of thousands.&nbsp;
