Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday (June 13) that he believed Ukraine was responsible for the breach last week of the Kakhovka dam. While speaking during a televised meeting of Russian war correspondents and military bloggers, Putin said that the damage has been caused by Kyiv shelling the structure with HIMARS missile systems, which were supplied by the United States.

Putin said, "They used HIMARS rockets deliberately and many times to hit Kakhovka dam - that's the point. Maybe they had some kind of plant there. I don't know."

He added, "Maybe they added something insignificant once again - and destruction began. As we understand - we are not interested in this (Kakhovka dam destruction) for sure, because there are harsh consequences for territories we control and that are Russian."

The hydroelectric dam was ripped open earlier this month after a reported blast and in the aftermath, Moscow and Kyiv have traded blame for the attack, which caused tensions as the Kakhovka dam sits on the Dnipro River which feeds a reservoir providing cooling water for the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power station.

Thousands of civilians were forced to flee the flooded areas while raising fears of an ecological disaster after the destruction of the dam caused torrents of water to pour into the Dnipro.

Same as Ukrainian officials, Putin also mentioned that rescue efforts were continuing in flooded areas of Kherson under Russian control as he said that the Russian Emergencies Ministry has been working there.

Putin said that military and local authorities are also doing rescue work.
Putin added, "But, in principle, one could have assumed that the enemy would behave this way, and one could have prepared better."

Speaking further, Putin said that there was no need to follow Ukraine's example and declare martial law, but he added that the nation must fight enemy agents and improve its defences against attacks deep inside its own territory.

Putin claims Ukraine deliberately hit Kakhovka dam with HIMARS rockets

Social media went abuzz over reports of so-called 'aliens' after claims that a family in the United States saw 10-foot aliens in their backyard. The family's home is in Las Vegas, Nevada and there have been several claims of mysterious encounters in that particular area.

On April 30, two Las Vegas residents claimed that they saw an object falling from the sky. After that, some mysterious figures allegedly emerged from the dark.

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has said that his country has started taking delivery of Russian tactical nuclear weapons. This announcement came on Wednesday (June 14) and according to some reports citing Lukashenko, some of the weapons were three times more powerful than the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 by the United States.

Experts have claimed that the shorter-range less powerful nuclear weapons could potentially be used on the battlefield. In case it happens, it would be the first usage of such warheads outside Russia since the 1991 fall of the Soviet Union.

During an interview with the Rossiya-1 Russian state TV channel, Lukashenko said, "We have missiles and bombs that we have received from Russia."

Ukraine war: Belarus begins taking delivery of Russian nuclear weapons

Germany on Wednesday (June 14) approved an advance payment for the purchase of the sophisticated Arrow 3 air defence system from Israel. The go-ahead has been given by the lawmakers for nearly $4.3 billion, news agencies reported.

According to the procurement documents by the finance ministry that were prepared for the parliament, Berlin is focusing on finalising a government-to-government deal with Israel on the purchase of the Arrow-3 system at the end of the year with this move. The Arrow-3 system has been produced by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).

According to the papers cited by news agency Reuters, Germany will lose part or all of its advance payments if the deal fails. It is mentioned that the money would be used to compensate Israel for costs incurred in such a scenario.

The German air force is supposed to take delivery of Arrow-3 by the fourth quarter of 2025 and the final deal will cost about one billion euros more than originally planned.

The ongoing Russia-Ukraine war has been putting pressure on the arsenal of the US and other European nations as they are supplying military aid to the war-torn nation to help in its fight against Russian aggression.

Also read: Ukraine war: Belarus begins taking delivery of Russian nuclear weapons

But the war has caused a shortage of ground-based air defence systems such as Raytheon's Patriot units or the more recently developed IRIS-T in many Western nations. Arrow-3 will offer protection for the higher layer, while Patriot and IRIS-T cover the medium layer of air defence.

A committee source told the news agency AFP that around 950 million euros were also approved for the purchase of six German-made Iris-T SLM air defence systems.

The deal comes after a landmark 100-billion-euro fund unveiled by Chancellor Olaf Scholz to bolster the country's defences. The announcement marked a major turnaround for Germany after years of under-investment in the armed forces.

Germany on Wednesday (June 14) approved an advance payment for the purchase of the sophisticated Arrow 3 air defence system from Israel. The go-ahead has been given by the lawmakers for nearly $4.

Also read: Ukraine war: Belarus begins taking delivery of Russian nuclear weapons But the war has caused a shortage of ground-based air defence systems such as Raytheon's Patriot units or the more recently developed IRIS-T in many Western nations. Watch: All about Germany's first-ever National Security Strategy × Earlier on Wednesday, Scholz told a press conference that the investment was "a big project that doesn't just relate to Germany itself". On being asked about his opinion over any risk in making the initial payment, the chancellor said things were "progressing bit by bit and we believe that everything will be approved". Denver mass shooting injures 9 as crowd gathers to celebrate Nuggets' NBA win

Humans are curious to find life outside planet Earth and they launch new programmes and missions for the same. The long hunt for extraterrestrials in our solar system just got a massive boost as according to scientists, a Moon of Saturn has everything needed for life.

Scientists discovered that phosphorus, a key building block of life, lies in the ocean beneath the icy surface of Saturn's moon Enceladus.

They used data collected by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)'s Cassini mission and found that phosphorus was locked inside salt-rich ice grains ejected into space from Enceladus.

The study was published on Wednesday (June 14) in the journal Nature, and a report was also published on the official website of NASA. Notably, Cassini started exploring Saturn and its rings and moons in 2004, it was burned up in the planet's atmosphere when its mission ended in 2017.

Enceladus is the sixth-largest moon of Saturn and is mostly covered by fresh, clean ice, which makes it one of the most reflective bodies of the solar system. The outer surface is said to be wrapped in an ice crust, but the inner one is an ocean. Some scientists have claimed that the ocean could be a home for alien life making the moon most likely hope for finding nearby extraterrestrial life.

As mentioned, Enceladus has a subsurface ocean, and water from that ocean erupts through the cracks of icy crust surface as geysers at its south pole.
