The Supertech twin towers in Noida, Uttar Pradesh were finally demolished on Sunday through controlled implosion – almost nine years after the residents went to court over irregularities in the construction.

The demolition was carried out by Mumbai-based company Edifice Engineering along with Central Building Research Institute and the Noida authorities with the help of around 3700 kg of explosives.

The Allahabad High Court had ordered the demolition back in 2014 and in 2021, the Supreme Court said that the order was to be implemented within three months. Although the demolition was delayed by more than a year due to technical difficulties, the authorities were able to ensure compliance of the court order on Sunday.

The order came after the residents of 'Supertech Emerald Court' housing society’ accused the builders of flouting rules. While the initial plan showed that the society was supposed to have 14 towers and 9 floors, they ended up constructing 40 floors in both the towers.

According to the project engineer, the dust resulting from the explosion should take around 12 minutes to settle down.

The rubble from the demolition will also be taken care of by the authorities as they have a plan in place to clear and transport it to the designated spots with the next three months.

According to PTI, 7000 people were asked to move out from the buildings in the area due to safety concerns and they will be allowed back into their residences by 5:30 pm on Sunday after safety clearance.

Linthoi Chanambam created history on Friday as the 16-year-old from Manipur became the first ever judo world champion from India. She defeated Bianca Reis of Brazil in the final of the 57 kg category to clinch a historic gold medal at the World Cadet Judo Championship in Sarajevo, Bosnia.

The youngster dominated her opponents enroute to the final with four wins by clear ippons (ippon – a move in judo that earns 10 points and a straight win). In the summit clash, she faced an opponent with more international experience, but Chanambam kept her calm and came out with the victory.

"There's one player, she's from Kosovo. Majlinda Kelmendi. She's the first athlete from Kosovo to win a gold medal at the Olympics (2016). So, I want to be the first Indian woman to win a gold medal at the Olympics," she said in an interaction with journalists according to ESPN.

Nigeria has become the first country ever to announce a complete ban on foreign models when it comes to its television advertisements. The decision was taken by the Nigerian government in an attempt to “develop local talent” and will officially be implemented from October this year.

This is the latest assault on women’s right to education in Afghanistan after a number of reforms brought in by the Taliban in the recent years. A number of gender-based rules were introduced in the school system and in a few places, girls were not allowed to study beyond the sixth grade.

The reforms are not limited to education as the Taliban, who took over the country after the United States troops left last year, have made it difficult for women to keep working.

However, since the raid, Trump has been constantly criticising the authorities for targeting him deliberately ahead of the mid-term elections. He called the FBI “political hacks and thugs” and even criticised US Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart for granting FBI the permission to conduct the raid and hinted that the decision was taken due to the judge’s “animosity and hatred”.

According to The Washington Post, the affidavit also said that 184 documents found in the boxes had “classification markings”. Among the documents mentioned in the affidavit, 67 of them were marked “CONFIDENTIAL,” 92 marked “SECRET,” and remaining 25 were marked as “TOP SECRET”.

“Top Secret” refers to the highest level of secrecy when it comes to government documents and it mostly refers to content which is crucial to national security or a similar important topic.

The affidavit claimed that “the documents could have involved sensitive matters such as confidential human sources, information that may not be released in any form to foreign governments and intelligence information derived from the monitoring of foreign communications signals”.

“Secret” is the second highest level of classification and although these are crucial documents, the number of people who have access to them is considerably greater in number. On occasions, these documents can also contain information about confidential technological advancements.

Finally, the “classified” level of classification applies to general government documents and they mainly contain various policies and strategies of the government. They can also contain information about the military and hence, can hold crucial data pertaining to national security.

A train from Calais in France to Folkestone in England broke down inside the Channel tunnel on Tuesday leaving the passengers stranded for hours. Hundreds of people were stuck in the tunnel for almost five hours and they had to walk for quite some distance to finally come out through a service tunnel.&nbsp;

The alternate tunnel runs alongside the main Eurotunnel and videos posted on social media showed the passengers carrying their luggage through the tunnel and some of them even walking with their dogs.&nbsp;

“After further waiting, we left the train through the emergency link tunnel to the service tunnel. We then walked approximately 10 minutes to a train in front of the stricken train. That train then stopped as it couldn’t get traction, presumably as it was long and had no weight on it,” Harrison added.&nbsp;

Eurotunnel Le Shuttle apologised for the inconvenience in their official statement.&nbsp;

“A train has broken down in the tunnel and we are in the process of transferring customers to a separate passenger shuttle via the service tunnel, to return to our Folkestone terminal. We apologise sincerely for this inconvenience,” it read.&nbsp;
