In a new shocking study, researchers have discovered that the centuries-old linen cloth "Shroud of Turin" may not have been used to wrap the dead body of Jesus Christ after the crucifixion.

“I think the possibility of this having happened is very remote,” said Cicero Moraes, who is a Brazilian graphics expert.

Moraes created the shroud's virtual simulation and placed it over the image of a body to check whether the impressions present on the fabric were matching.

The shroud is believed to have been traced from the mid-14th century, because of which some of the people have dismissed the cloth as a medieval forgery.

“On one side are those who think it is an authentic shroud of Jesus Christ, on the other, those who think it is a forgery. But I am inclined towards another approach: that it is, in fact, a work of Christian art, which managed to convey its intended message very successfully," Moraes said.

Researcher creates virtual simulation of shroud

A virtual simulation was created by Moraes in which the shroud's recreation was placed over a body.

Once it was laid, the fabric showed “a distorted and significantly more robust image” than that present on the shroud because of the change from 3D to 2D.

“When you wrap a 3D object with a fabric, and that object leaves a pattern like blood stains, these stains generate a more robust and more deformed structure in relation to the source,” wrote Moraes.

“So, roughly speaking, what we see as a result of printing stains from a human body would be a more swollen and distorted version of it, not an image that looks like a photocopy. A bas-relief, however, wouldn’t cause the image to deform, resulting in a figure that resembles a photocopy of the body," he added.

Moraes said that the printing stains from a human body are likely to be more swollen and added that the impression created by a 3D body on the shroud should have a striking difference.

Moraes said that even the findings like scalp and toes spread outwardly did not match up.

Meanwhile, the expert also did not find the imprinting of the torso, groin, and neck area on the cloth.

“It seems to me more like a non-verbal iconographic work that has very successfully served the purpose of the religious message contained within,” Moraes said.

For centuries, many people have questioned the legitimacy of the Shroud of Turin.

In a stunning discovery, an international team of archaeologists - headed by Democritus University of Thrace's Antonis Bartsiokas - found a piece of cloth which was believed to be Alexander the Great's tunic in one of the Royal Tombs at Vergina, Greece.

In the research paper published in the Journal of Field Archaeology, Bartsiokas explained the evidence around the purple and white tunic and said that the remains of three of the people who were buried at the famous burial site have been identified by his team.

In the earlier research, it was found that many of Alexander the Great's family members were laid to rest in the Royal Tombs at Vergina.

“There is also archaeological evidence to support this. For example, the skeleton in Tomb I shows a synostosis [fusion] on the thigh with the leg. This clearly indicates that this skeleton belongs to Alexander’s father, as Philip II was limping. The spooky decorations in the Halloween festival went to another level when a home in Canada hung a poster on its outside reading "O Stree Kal Aana" which translates to “Oh woman, come tomorrow".

The spooky decorations in the Halloween festival went to another level when a home in Canada hung a poster on its outside reading "O Stree Kal Aana" which translates to “Oh woman, come tomorrow". The iconic line was borrowed from a popular Bollywood horror-comedy film Stree in which villagers were shown writing this sentence outside their houses to ward off the witch who hunted men. The festival of Halloween is celebrated on October 31 every year and people are known to decorate their homes with eerie themes like skeletons, witches and ghosts. However, a home in the Canadian city of Brampton emerged as the star with its “O Stree Kal Aana” Halloween decor and its video soon went viral on social media. Speaking about her meeting with Trump, Keul said, "He said, 'Ah we finally meet, Miss Keul. How nice to meet you finally.' He was definitely excited. He stayed a long time. We talked for so long that everybody was staring at us. A good 10 minutes if not 15. I couldn't believe he was so fond of me." "He took me to the upper floors. It was one of the big suites. I thought Trump wanted to talk, as the other guy told me. I was confident, but I went with closed eyes. When I entered, he jumped on me. I just had time to turn. I was not prepared. I tried to do what I could to get rid of him," she added. Keul said that Trump groped her while she tried to stop him. "He kissed me on the lips and on the neck. He tried to lift my dress. He was grabbing and touching my body everywhere he could," she said. Watch: US Election 2024: Former Model Accuses Donald Trump of Groping Her "I'm very tall, that's what helped me a lot. I'm 185cm [6'1'] with a good 5-7cm shoes [2-3']. I think my size saved me. I tried everything I could. Finally, I said 'let's talk first' or something like that, then he slowed down. Then he held my hand, he kissed me, he asked me if I wanted to drink something, he asked me to sit down," she added. "I didn't know how to react. I had to breathe. I was thinking, how do I get out of here? Let's be nice, I thought. He asked me to agree to see him again. I said yes, because I didn't want trouble. He asked me if I'm mad, I said no. I had to find something diplomatic. I remember he was holding me, kissing me, he said 'I'll see you later," Keul further stated. National Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that the accusations of Keul "are false" and claimed that they were planted so that people's attention could be distracted from accusations against Kamala Harris's husband Doug Emhoff. "Fake allegations like this are a disservice to women who are truly victims of assault, like the women in Doug Emhoff's past," claimed Levitt. (With inputs from agencies)

In a new study, researchers have found that there has been a decline in the use of marijuana among teens, however, girls have been using it more in comparison to boys.

The researchers from Florida Atlantic University published the new research in Pediatric Reports which showed that even though there have been growing concerns about the usage of marijuana increasing among teens after its legalisation in the US, it has actually decreased.

The study, however, noted that girls have surpassed boys in the consumption of marijuana.

In the study, researchers analysed the trend of marijuana use among US teens from 2011 to 2021 with the use of data collected from the Youth Risk Behavior Survey of students from grades 9 to 12.

Here's what the study revealed

The study included a total sample of 88,183 US high school students who submitted their self-reports on their marijuana use.

In the time duration studied, the use of marijuana among teens was seen to have a significant decline.

The number of teens who had tried marijuana saw a decrease from 39.9 per cent in 2011 to 27.8 per cent in 2021 and the percentage of students who had reported marijuana use in the last 30 days fell from 23.1 per cent to 15.8 per cent.

There was also a decrease in the percentage of students who had used marijuana for the first time before the age of 13.

Overall the study shows that fewer teens were using marijuana.

“This finding aligns with previous research indicating that minority groups, particularly Black adolescents, may perceive lower risks associated with marijuana use, which could contribute to higher usage rates,” read the study.

An increase was noticed in the rate of marijuana use with each grade level which reached its highest rate among students of class 12.

“While we found a net decline in the percentage of marijuana use among students between 2011 and 2021 for all grade levels, there was consistently higher usage for older grades throughout all years, especially among 12th graders,” the authors stated.

Scientists are now planning to achieve the impossible, which is growing a tree on Mars.

In a new research, it has been found that carbon dioxide (CO2) needs to be jacked up on Mars to support plant growth and raise temperatures on the planet for growing trees.

China is now monitoring couples' 'right time' to conceive a baby and pregnancy. But why?

In an unbelievable find, historians stumbled upon a document of space flight instructions which was said to belong to the 16th century.

According to historians, Austrian military engineer Conrad Haas had written the Sibiu Manuscript in the 16th century.

Haas lived from 1509 to 1576 and was always ahead of his time. He has been credited as the first person to document the theories related to multi-stage rockets.

The 450-page document was originally written in German and has detailed mentions of artillery and ballistics.

Historians have verified the document; however, very few people are aware of its existence. In the document, Haas talked about rocket science, including weapons and fireworks.

How was the manuscript discovered?

In 1961, Professor Doru Todericiu of Science and Technology at the University of Bucharest discovered the manuscript of Haas in the State Archives of Sibiu and this is how the document got its name.

In the Sibiu Manuscript, the illustrations were very accurate and the plans regarding the multi-stage rockets created by Haas were very advanced for the 16th century.

In the manuscript, a cylinder-shaped thrust chamber is illustrated, which is filled with powder fuel and has a conical hole for increasing the combustion area gradually.

Before the historians found the Sibiu Manuscript, it was believed that Kazimierz Siemienowicz wrote the first detailed description of the three-stage rocket.

Kazimierz Siemienowicz was born in the Raseiniai region of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and served in the armies of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.

In 1650, he wrote a treatise, Artis Magnae Artilleriae, which discussed rocketry and pyrotechnics.

Haas also wrote a warning regarding the military use of rockets in the manuscript.

The warning's English translation read, “But my advice is for more peace and no war, leaving the rifles calmly in storage, so the bullet is not fired, the gunpowder is not burned or wet, so the prince keeps his money, the arsenal master his life; that is the advice Conrad Haas gives.”

The document is an accurate example of how humans advanced in the realm of science and technology.

The 450-page document was originally written in German and has detailed mentions of artillery and ballistics. Haas also wrote a warning regarding the military use of rockets in the manuscript. The warning's English translation read, “But my advice is for more peace and no war, leaving the rifles calmly in storage, so the bullet is not fired, the gunpowder is not burned or wet, so the prince keeps his money, the arsenal master his life; that is the advice Conrad Haas gives.” The document is an accurate example of how humans advanced in the realm of science and technology.
