Egypt welcomed home a 3,400-year-old statue depicting the head of King Ramses II after it was stolen and smuggled out of the country more than three decades ago, the country's antiquities ministry said on Sunday.

The statue is now in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo but not on display. The artefact will be restored, the ministry said in a statement.

The statue was stolen from the Ramses II temple in the ancient city of Abydos in Southern Egypt more than three decades ago. The exact date is not known, but Shaaban Abdel Gawad, who heads Egypt's antiquities repatriation department, said the piece is estimated to have been stolen in the late 1980s or early 1990s.

Egyptian authorities spotted the artefact when it was offered for sale in an exhibition in London in 2013. It moved to several other countries before reaching Switzerland, according to the antiquities ministry.

"This head is part of a group of statues depicting King Ramses II seated alongside a number of Egyptian deities," Abdel Gawad said.

Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape has said that it is wrong to impose a 'cannibalism' label on his country and appealed to the United States to clear up World War II's remnants which are littered across the Pacific, after President Joe Biden spoke about his missing serviceman uncle being eaten by cannibals.

Biden had "appeared to imply his uncle was eaten by cannibals after his plane was shot down over PNG during WWII", said Marape's office, in a statement late on Sunday (April 21).

"President Biden's remarks may have been a slip of the tongue; however, my country does not deserve to be labelled as such," said Marape, in the statement.

"I urge President Biden to get the White House to look into cleaning up these remains of WWII so the truth about missing servicemen like Ambrose Finnegan can be put to rest," he added.

Israel carried out overnight strikes on the southern Gaza city of Rafah in which 22 people were killed, including 18 children, as confirmed by health officials on Sunday (April 21).

The strikes were carried out at a time when the United States was clearing additional military aid, worth billions of dollars, for Israel.

Near-daily air raids are being carried out by Israel on Rafah, a place which has become the refuge of more than half of Gaza’s 2.3 million population.

Israel has also decided to expand its ground offensive against Hamas near Gaza's border with Egypt amid calls for restraint from various countries, including the United States.

“In the coming days, we will increase the political and military pressure on Hamas because this is the only way to bring back our hostages and achieve victory. We will land more and painful blows on Hamas — soon,” said Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a statement.

According to the hospital, the woman was pregnant and the baby was saved by the doctors. In the second strike on Rafah, 17 children and two women from an extended family were killed.

“These children were sleeping. What did they do? What was their fault?” questioned one relative Umm Kareem, reported Associated News.

Another resident Mohammed al-Beheiri confirmed that his daughter Rasha, and her six children, the youngest being only 18 months old, were also killed. A woman and three children were reported to be stuck under the rubble.

The US House of Representatives on Saturday (April 20) approved a $26 billion aid package which included nearly $9 billion in humanitarian assistance for Gaza, which appears to be on the brink of famine, according to experts.

The US Senate is likely to sign the package as soon as Tuesday (April 23), which will be immediately signed by President Joe Biden.

It has been seven months since the conflict started and has now led to regional unrest as Israel and the US stand against Iran and allied militant groups. This month, Israel and Iran had a face-off which raised concerns of an all-out war.

Israel-Hamas war: 22 killed, mostly children, in strikes on southern Gaza as US prepares aid package

At least five rockets were fired at a military base of a US-led coalition in Syria from northern Iraq on Sunday (April 21), as per the Iraqi security forces.

After the launch of the rockets, a major search operation was carried out by the Iraqi forces in northern Nineveh province in response to the attack and they discovered the vehicle which was used for the launch of the rockets, said the Iraqi forces in a statement.

This was the first major attack carried out against the coalition forces after many weeks. The attack took place days after Israel reportedly responded to a drone strike by Iran on the Islamic republic, amid the ongoing Gaza war.

The Iraqi security forces, in their statement, accused "outlaw elements of having targetted a base of the international coalition with rockets in the heart of Syrian territory", at around 9:50 pm (1850 GMT).

Terry Anderson, a US journalist who was held captive by Islamist militants for almost seven years in Lebanon and came to symbolise the plight of Western hostages during the country's 1975-1990 civil war, died on Sunday at age 76, his daughter said in a statement.

The former chief Middle East correspondent for The Associated Press, who was the longest held hostage of the scores of Westerners abducted in Lebanon, died at his home in Greenwood Lake, New York, said his daughter Sulome Anderson, who was born three months after he was seized. No cause of death was given.

Kept in barely-lit cells by mostly Shi'ite Muslim groups in what was known as The Hostage Crisis, and chained by his hands and feet and blindfolded much of the time, the former Marine later recalled that he "almost went insane" and that only his Roman Catholic faith prevented him from taking his life before he was freed in December 1991.

"Though my father's life was marked by extreme suffering during his time as a hostage in captivity, he found a quiet, comfortable peace in recent years. I know he would choose to be remembered not by his very worst experience, but through his humanitarian work with the Vietnam Children's Fund, the Committee to Protect Journalists, homeless veterans and many other incredible causes," Sulome Anderson said.

The family will take some time to organise a memorial, she said.

Anderson's ordeal began in Beirut on the morning of March 16, 1985, after he played a round of tennis. A green Mercedes sedan with curtains over the rear window pulled up, three gunmen jumped out and dragged Anderson, still dressed in shorts, into the car.

The pro-Iran Islamic Jihad group claimed responsibility for the kidnapping, saying it was part of "continuing operations against Americans." The abductors demanded freedom for Shi'ite Muslims jailed in Kuwait for bomb attacks against the U.S. and French embassies there.

It was the start of a nightmare for Anderson that would last six years and nine months during which he was stuck in cells under the rubble-strewn streets of Beirut and elsewhere, often badly fed and sleeping on a thin, dirty mattress on a concrete floor.

During captivity, both his father and brother would die of cancer and he would not see his daughter Sulome until she was six years old.

"What kept me going?" he asked aloud shortly after release. "My companions. I was lucky to have people with me most of the time. My faith, stubbornness. You do what you have to. You wake up every day, summon up the energy from somewhere. You think you haven't got it and you get through the day and you do it. Day after day after day."

Other hostages described Anderson as tough and active in captivity, learning French and Arabic and exercising regularly.

However, they also told of him banging his head against a wall until he bled in frustration at beatings, isolation, false hopes and the feeling of being neglected by the outside world.

"There is a limit of how long we can last and some of us are approaching the limit very badly," Anderson said in a videotape released by his captors in December 1987.

Marcel Fontaine, a French diplomat who was released in May 1988 after three years of captivity, recalled the time cell mate Anderson thought freedom was near because he was allowed to see the sun and eat a hamburger.

In April 1987 Anderson was given a suit of clothes that his captors had made for him. "He wore it every day," Fontaine said.

A week later, however, Anderson's captors took the suit back, leaving him in despair and certain he was forgotten, Fontaine said.

Scores of journalist groups, governments and individuals over the years called for Anderson's release and his Oct. 27 birthday became an unofficial U.S. memorial day for hostages.

Anderson said he considered killing himself several times but rejected it. He relied heavily on his faith, which he said he had renewed six months before being kidnapped.

"I must have read the Bible 50 times from start to finish," he said. "It was an enormous help to me."

His sister, Peggy Say, who died in 2015, was his fiercest advocate during captivity.

She worked tirelessly for her brother's freedom. She visited Arab and European capitals, lobbied the Pope, the Archbishop of Canterbury and every U.S. official and politician available.

Under pressure from the media and the U.S. hostages' families, the Reagan administration negotiated a secret and illegal deal in the mid-1980s to facilitate arms sales to Iran in return for the release of American hostages. But the deal, known as the Iran–Contra affair, failed to gain freedom for any of the hostages.

Born Oct. 27, 1947, in Lorain, Ohio, Anderson grew up in Batavia, New York. He graduated from Iowa State University and spent six years in the Marine Corps, mostly as a journalist.

He worked for the AP in Detroit, Louisville, New York, Tokyo, Johannesburg and then Beirut, where he first went to cover the Israeli invasion in 1982.

In that war-torn city, he fell in love with Lebanese woman Madeleine Bassil, who was his fiance and pregnant with their daughter Sulome when he was snatched.

He is survived by his daughters Sulome and Gabrielle, his sister Judy and brother Jack, and by Bassil, whom Sulome Anderson called "his ex-wife and best friend."

Anderson and fellow hostages developed a system of communication by tapping on walls between their cells. Always the journalist, Anderson passed on news of the outside world he had picked up during captivity to Church of England envoy Terry Waite, being held hostage in an adjacent room in September 1990 after years of solitary confinement.

"Then the world news: the Berlin Wall's falling, communism's demise in eastern Europe, free elections in the Soviet Union, work toward multiracial government in South Africa. All the incredible things that have happened since he was taken nearly three years ago. He thought I was crazy," Anderson wrote in his 1993 book "Den of Lions."

After his release, Anderson taught journalism at Columbia University in New York, Ohio University, the University of Kentucky and the University of Florida until he retired in 2015.

Among businesses he invested in were a horse ranch in Ohio, and a restaurant. He unsuccessfully ran for the Ohio state Senate as a Democrat in 2004 and sued Iran in federal court for his abduction, winning a multimillion-dollar settlement in 2002.

Watch: US to withdraw troops from Niger in West Africa A week later, however, Anderson's captors took the suit back, leaving him in despair and certain he was forgotten, Fontaine said. "It was an enormous help to me." His sister, Peggy Say, who died in 2015, was his fiercest advocate during captivity. He is survived by his daughters Sulome and Gabrielle, his sister Judy and brother Jack, and by Bassil, whom Sulome Anderson called "his ex-wife and best friend." Anderson and fellow hostages developed a system of communication by tapping on walls between their cells. He thought I was crazy," Anderson wrote in his 1993 book "Den of Lions." After his release, Anderson taught journalism at Columbia University in New York, Ohio University, the University of Kentucky and the University of Florida until he retired in 2015. Among businesses he invested in were a horse ranch in Ohio, and a restaurant. He unsuccessfully ran for the Ohio state Senate as a Democrat in 2004 and sued Iran in federal court for his abduction, winning a multimillion-dollar settlement in 2002.

In the search for a mysterious planet in our solar system, scientists have now discovered more evidence that hints at the existence of "Planet Nine" or "Planet X" in our solar system.

For years, astronomers have been on the lookout for the mysterious planet in our solar system.

However, as per a recent study, "a new line of evidence supporting the existence" of the planet suggests that it is likely to be orbiting beyond the planet Neptune around the Sun.

The undiscovered planet will help explain the unusual orbits of a series of objects which are present on the edge of our solar system, reported The Independent.

In the new study, astronomer Konstantin Batygin and his team wrote about their findings.

The study focuses on a "more conventional class" of trans-Neptunian objects (TNOs), which means any minor planet which orbits the sun at a greater average distance than Neptune.

The study has also studied the objects which have crossed Neptune and how the orbits were affected, while considering the passing stars and the Galactic tide, according to the outlet.

"The solar system’s distant reaches exhibit a wealth of anomalous dynamical structure, hinting at the presence of a yet-undetected, massive trans-Neptunian body — Planet 9," states the study.

"Previous analyses have shown how orbital evolution induced by this object can explain the origins of a broad assortment of exotic orbits, ranging from those characterized by high perihelia to those with extreme inclinations," the study added.

Elsewhere in the study, it is stated that the team's "calculations show that the distribution of the observed orbits strongly supports the presence of the unseen planet."

Even though the planet has not been discovered yet, the team has been hoping to make a breakthrough discovery with the help of the Vera C Rubin Observatory which is under construction in Chile currently.

"With an 8.4-metre mirror and the largest camera ever built for astronomy and astrophysics, Vera C. Rubin Observatory will capture the cosmos in exquisite detail and help answer some of our biggest questions about the Universe," confirmed the observatory's website.

“This upcoming phase of exploration promises to provide critical insights into the mysteries of our solar system’s outer reaches,” said Batygin and his team, in the study.

The study was conducted by scientist Michael E. Brown who spoke about where Planet Nine is likely to be.

"We have ruled out most of the places where the planet could be," said the astronomer, while speaking to Live Science. "Now we have to do the much harder job of searching the area that is further away," he added.

The search for extraterrestrial life in our universe has spanned several years and theories. While we may have not found signs of life yet, that hasn't stopped human being's thirst to know if someone is out there. Scientists have been coming up with different ideas and theories to learn about the existence of aliens.

The scientists instead of changing where they are looking for potential alien life, are altering what exactly they are searching for.

A new theory has been proposed by a pair of astronomers on the basis of panspermia, according to which life can begin on one planet and then travel to another planet through meteorites.

The theory is based on "panspermia", which is a fringe theory that suggests all life forms can go from one planet to another by ‘hitching rides’ on meteors.

The latest research has been put forward by astronomers Harrison B. Smith and Lana Sinapayen and has not been peer-reviewed. This research suggests the possibility of panspermia, however, the implications are huge.

The theory of panspermia will help scientists narrow down their search for alien life. This is important as till now more than 5,000 exoplanets have been identified by NASA where there are chances of presence of life and looking at each individually will take years and years.

Scientists have till now not figured out in what form life may exist in the universe beyond Earth and if Earth is truly the only planet that supports life.

Aliens travelling on meteorites to make changes on other planets: Study

Similar to how the conditions on Earth have been altered by life on the planet and in the atmosphere of our planet, which includes adding more oxygen, the aliens are likely to have altered the properties of an exoplanet.

As per the researchers, if the aliens can travel as per panspermia, then they are likely to try to make similar changes on every planet they travel to.

As per the new study, if alien life is searched in this way, it can mean that experts will be able to potentially find clusters of planets close to each other with similar characteristics and this can be an indicator of potential life.

This finding comes at a time when new research has emerged according to which bacteria filled with purple pigments are likely to be hosting extraterrestrial life.

6 Ways To Keep Your Stomach Cool This Summer

Health issues linked to the stomach generally increase as temperatures peak in the summer. Hence, it is important to keep it cool. Here are a few tips which help in keeping the stomach cool.

It is extremely important to drink enough water in summer to keep the stomach cool.

Watermelons are a great fruit for the summer months. Its water content is very high and it keeps the stomach cool.

Sattu or roasted Bengal gram powder is a powerhouse of protein. Drinking sattu and water prevents dehydration and keeps the body temperature down.

Cucumber aids digestion and helps in constipation. It is filled with water which makes it one of the best salad ingredients in summer. It keeps the stomach cool and healthy.

Buttermilk or a bowl of plain curd can work like magic for the gut in summer. While keeping the tummy cool, it provides the much-required probiotics.

Cockroach milk is a crystallised substance, filled with proteins, and is produced by a particular type of cockroach known as Diploptera punctate.

The speciality of this drink is that it is provided by the cockroaches to their offspring. The insects make “milk” in the form of protein crystals, and feed it to their younger ones.

The content provided on the website is for informational purposes only and is not intended as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.

Is Cockroach Milk A Great Superfood Or Just A Hype?

Cockroach milk has been emerging as a superfood for the future and it is believed to be nutritious and healthy.

Scientists have found that this milk-like crystalline substance is filled with nutrition and can be considered a complete food since it is a rich source of protein, carbs, and fats. It also provides all nine essential amino acids.

Why Is Cockroach Milk Famous As A Non-Dairy Milk Alternative?

Cockroach milk is considered a non-dairy milk alternative since it is filled with all nine essential amino acids, that are generally missing from non-meat foods.

Even though cockroach milk is very nutritious, it is filled with calories which can instantly increase weight.

Also, no research has proved that cockroach milk is safe for human consumption, hence it should be avoided by children and pregnant women.

One Glass Costs Lives Of Thousands Of Cockroaches

Also, cockroach milk is not a very ethical drink since one glass of this milk costs the lives of thousands of cockroaches.

United States President Joe Biden took the world by surprise and left the White House in the lurch after claiming that his uncle was most likely eaten by cannibals in Papua New Guinea during World War II.

United States President Joe Biden took the world by surprise and left the White House in the lurch after claiming that his uncle was most likely eaten by cannibals in Papua New Guinea during World War II. As reported by Western media outlets, 81-year-old Biden said that his uncle's plane was shot down over Papua New Guinea during World War II. He further emphasised how this place is known for cannibals. The statement was made by Biden while he was paying tribute to his uncle Ambrose Finnegan. Biden said his body was never found and suspected that it was eaten by cannibals. And he got shot down in New Guinea, and they never found the body because there used to be a lot of cannibals – for real – in that part of New Guinea,” said the president. White House reacts to President Biden's cannibal remarks Clarifying Biden's statement, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Thursday (April 18) accepted that Finnegan died after his plane crashed into the Pacific Ocean amid World War II, which implied that he was not eaten by cannibals. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Jean-Pierre said, “You saw the president, he was incredibly proud of his uncle’s service in uniform. You saw him at the war memorial. It was incredibly emotional and important to him." “You saw him respond to all of you when asked about the moment yesterday and his uncle, who lost his life when the military aircraft he was on crashed in the Pacific after taking off near New Guinea," the spokesperson added. What did the defence report say about Biden's uncle? The claims made by Biden also fail to match the account published by the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency.
