Kasim Gilani, former PM's on, blamed the present Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's government for his father's infection.

The former PM was last seen in aNAB hearing in Rawalpindi on Thursday for a case accusing him, and few other ministers,&nbsp;of accepting luxury vehicles and gifts as a bribe from Toshakhana.

Considering the large number of existing infections in the court, Gilani had requested the judge for a permanent exemption from personal attendance in the court. However, the plea was rejected.

People sent good wishes and offered prayers for the leader's speedy recovery on Twitter. His daughter, too, tweeted for his speedy recovery.

With a rapid increase in the number of coronavirus cases in India, the country is gearing up to start domestic production of the anti-viral Remdesivir drug.

The drug will be allowed only for&nbsp;"restricted emergency use" on COVID-19 patients. The approval was granted by India's Drug Controller General of India (DCGI), on the condition that it will be strictly used only for severely ill&nbsp;hospitalised coronavirus patients.

DCGi is currently evaluating application from India's top four pharma giants who want to seek the approval to manufacture and sell Remdesivir in India.

"Their applications are being thoroughly studied and examined day and night. It had certain shortcomings for which the respective pharma companies are furnishing their report. The testing of the drug`s molecular compound will be done at our government laboratory. When it fulfills the safety parameters at the dose, India would soon have the benefit of its domestic product (Remdesivir) which have efficacy, stability and safety for `restricted emergency use` on COVID-19 patients," a senior government official told a local news agency.

The drug will only be allowed in small quantities for severely ill patients,&nbsp;as the drug is undergoing trials for now. The doctors resorting to the drug will have to fill prescribed forms seeking approval for usage.

"The drug will be administered in the form of infection in five doses. On the first day, a patient will be given two doses followed by one dose for the next four days under the strict monitoring of doctors. The drug has to be given only to those severe COVID-19 patients with oxygen saturation level below 94 and respiratory rate more than 24," he explained.

The pharma companies manufacturing the drug will also have to do&nbsp; an 'Active-Post Marketing Surveillance' through which they will have observe and study the benefits that each patient has registered through the use of the drug, and provide the data report to the government.

Remdesivir, an investigational antiviral therapy developed by Gilead, received Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA) by the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) to treat COVID-19.&nbsp;According to Gilead, under the licensing agreements, the companies have a right to receive a technology transfer of the Gilead manufacturing process for Remdesivir to enable them to scale up production more quickly.

Police in Nepal arrested 10 people, including seven foreigners, on Saturday as demonstrations against the government’s handling of the coronavirus crisis continued with hundreds of protesters gathering in the capital city Kathmandu, officials said.

Protesters are demanding better quarantine facilities, more tests and transparency in the purchase of medical supplies to fight the crisis.

This is a dangerous situation because it requires a lot of things to be done to convert a negative growth into positive. The total budget is of Rs 7,294.90 billion. They have also projected a deficit of Rs 3,500 billion but I feel they are trying to conceal the real numbers. The total deficit would be around Rs 4,500 billion and this could even go up to Rs 5,000 billion," he said.

Adding on, he said, "They might have said that this budget is for 2020-21 but I fell that they would have to come up with a rolling budget after three months. The crisis is so deep that they will have to reassess their budget every three months and will be forced to come up with a new budget."&nbsp;

He also accused the Pakistan government of handing over the area&nbsp;Gilgit Baltistan to China, as the country has not been allocating funds for the said area.

PoK rights activist blames Pak army for first ever negative economic growth

The Philippines Navy has sent his "sincerest thanks" to the Indian Navy for its "invaluable assistance" for helping out one of its Navy Ship after a fire broke out in engine room which injured 2 Philippines navy personnel.

The fire broke in Philippines ship BRP Ramon Alcaraz on May 07 which grievously injured two of its navy personnel, on with a second-degree burn. Indian Navy ship not only repaired the ship free of cost at Navy Shipyard in Kochi but took care of the both the personnel in Indian hospitals.

The two Filipino Navy personnel were rushed to INHS Sanjivani Naval Hospital, Kochi for immediate treatment. One of them was later taken to Bangalore hospitals where he is still recuperating.

Philippines envoy to India Ramon S Bagatsing Jr. told WION, "We are extremely grateful for the support by the Indian navy to the Philippines Navy ships and the personnel in terms of providing us approval to dock and to board stranded Philippines &amp; fire incident happened in one of the ships. Indian navy took care of repairs at its expense, but also took care of the physical aspect of taking care of two Philipino navy men and brought them to hospitals.So we are extremely grateful for what they have done for us."

In Virginia, demonstrators tore down a monument of Jefferson Davis. He was the President of the confederate states -- the states that promoted slavery, racism and oppression of the Blacks.

Statues of Confederate&nbsp;soldiers were beheaded in Portsmouth. A few hours later, one of the structures was pulled down.

In England, authorities removed the statue of Robert Baden-Powell. He was once considered among the 13-most influential Britons in the 20th century. Then came the Black Lives Matter movement, and turns out Powell was racist, a supporter of Nazi Germany and fascist too.

In Belgium, a statue of Leopold II was daubed with paint and another was sprayed with graffiti.

An online petition against the King has passed 64,000 signatures, which says Leopold killed more than 10 million Congolese. This was during his 23-year reign over the colony.

These falling statues are telling us stories we had never heard of, at least most of us did not. How many of us had heard of Edward Colston, and that he transported 84,000 slaves from Africa to America?

His statue, by the way, has been fished out of the water in Bristol. How many of us took note of Churchill's racism, or heard of Robert Milligan?

An annual American report on religious freedom has voiced concern over the targeted killing in Pakistan of Shia Muslims, including ethnic Hazaras, who are largely Shia, and Ahmadi Muslims in attacks believed to be driven by faith.

The US `2019 International Religious Freedom Report` that documents major instances of the violation of religious freedom across the world, released by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo at the State Department on Wednesday, said human rights activists reported numerous instances of societal violence related to allegations of blasphemy; of efforts by individuals to coerce religious minorities to convert to Islam; and of societal harassment, discrimination, and threats of violence directed at members of religious minority communities.

NGOs expressed concern about what they stated was an increasing frequency of attempts to kidnap, forcibly convert, and forcibly marry young women from religious minority communities, especially young Hindu and Christian women.

"There also continued to be reports of attacks on holy places, cemeteries, and religious symbols of Hindu, Christian, and Ahmadiyya minorities," the report added.

A group of artists climbed ladders up one of the many blast walls snaking through the Afghan capital Kabul this week to paint a mural of George Floyd in solidarity with the anti-racism protests kindled by his death in police custody.

Floyd, an African American, died on May 25 after a white Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes while detaining him. Medical examiners ruled it a homicide and the officer was charged with second-degree murder.

"George Floyd is a global figure now and he was killed in the United States because of the blackness of his skin," said Afghan artist Mehr Aqa Sultani, a member of local arts activist group ArtLords that painted the mural. "We want to say 'no' to discrimination because discrimination has no benefit for us."

Nepal's Parliament is set to hold a special session on Saturday to vote on a constitutional amendment to come out with a new political map laying claim over the strategically key areas of Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura along the border with India, sources said on Thursday, notwithstanding a strong protest by New Delhi.

A house meeting has been scheduled for Saturday as per the Parliament's notice and the matter relating to the constitution amendment bill is likely to come during the meeting, parliamentary sources said.

Nepal last month released the revised political and administrative map of the country laying claim over the strategically key areas. India has been maintaining that these three areas belonged to it.

Earlier this week, the Nepalese Parliament unanimously endorsed a proposal to consider the constitution amendment bill to pave way for endorsing the new map.

The ties between India and Nepal came under strain after Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated a 80-km-long strategically crucial road connecting the Lipulekh pass with Dharchula in Uttarakhand on May 8.

Nepal reacted sharply to the inauguration of the road claiming that it passed through Nepalese territory. India rejected the claim asserting that the road lies completely within its territory.

India sternly asked Nepal not to resort to any "artificial enlargement" of territorial claims after Kathmandu released the new map.

Nepal's Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli has said that his government will seek a solution to the Kalapani issue through diplomatic efforts and dialogue on the basis of historical facts and documents.

"We will get back the land occupied by India through holding a dialogue," Oli said while responding to questions in Parliament on Wednesday.

He claimed that India built a Kali temple, created "an artificial Kali river" and "encroached the Nepalese territory through deploying the Army" at Kalapani. The river defines the border between the two countries.

In New Delhi, the External Affairs Ministry said on Thursday that India deeply values its friendly ties with Nepal.

"We have already made our position clear on these issues. India deeply values its civilization, cultural and friendly relations with Nepal," Spokesperson in the Ministry of External Affairs Anurag Srivastava said, in comments seen as conciliatory to the Himalyan nation.

"Our multi-faceted bilateral partnership has expanded and diversified in the recent years with increased focus and enhanced government of India's assistance on humanitarian, development and connectivity projects in Nepal,"

Srivastava said at an online media briefing when asked about the issue.&nbsp;
