Ahead of the India-Pakistan clash on August 28, which will be the Asia Cup opener for both sides, former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh recalled the epic 2011 ODI World Cup semi-final between the two heavyweights, in Mohali, where MS Dhoni-led Men in Blue beat Pakistan by 29 runs to book a place in the final, where they beat Sri Lanka by six wickets.

"It was one of those games where I felt I was getting a bit numb. I had bowled five overs and conceded around 26-27 runs. It was a water break, and Dhoni told me, 'Bhajju pa, aap vahan se daaloge' (around the wicket). Kamran (Umar) was playing good, so was Misbah. All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been named as the Bangladesh captain for the upcoming Asia Cup and T20 World Cup. The BCB also announced a 17-member squad for the Asia Cup, which will be played in the UAE from August 27. The Asia Cup 15th edition of the tournament will be played in the UAE between six teams (main event). Defending champions India are also the most successful team, having won the trophy seven times. While the last edition of the tournament was held in an ODI format, this edition will feature the T20 format.

The six teams are divided into two groups with India, Pakistan and a qualifying team in Group A; and Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan forming Group B. Bout was arrested in Thailand in 2008 and then extradited to the US, where in 2012 he was sentenced to 25 years in prison on charges of arming rebels in some of the world's bloodiest conflicts.

Winning 61 medals this time holds a lot of significance since shooting, which is India's most successful discipline historically with 135 medals, was not included in the Games this time. The numbers could have been way higher had it been included.

This includes six gold medals by Bajrang Punia, Ravi Dahiya, Deepak Punia, Sakshi Malik, Vinesh Phogat and Naveen. India won 10 medals in weightlifting, including three golds by Mirabai Chanu, Achinta Sheuli and Jeremy Lalrinnunga.
