The nonbinding resolution was proposed by the United States and co-sponsored by China and 121 other nations. The officials said that it took three months to negotiate and advocate the strengthening of privacy policies.&nbsp;

While briefing the reporters, one of the senior administration officials said, "We're sailing in choppy waters with the fast-changing technology, which means that it's more important than ever to steer by the light of our values."&nbsp;

The official described the resolution as the "first-ever truly global consensus document on AI".&nbsp;

"The improper or malicious design, development, deployment and use of artificial intelligence systems ... pose risks that could ... undercut the protection, promotion and enjoyment of human rights and fundamental freedoms," the measure says.&nbsp;

On being asked about whether negotiators faced resistance from Russia or China, the officials conceded there were "lots of heated conversations. ...But we actively engaged with China, Russia, Cuba, other countries that often don’t see eye to eye with us on issues."&nbsp;

"We believe the resolution strikes the appropriate balance between furthering development while continuing to protect human rights," said one official&nbsp;on condition of anonymity to news agency Reuters.

Earlier in March, the European Parliament approved rules to regulate AI - the world's first framework for managing AI amid concerns that the technology may endanger humans.&nbsp;

This commitment has been further demonstrated through the establishment of a dedicated control room by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), along with the issuance of emergency helpline numbers to provide assistance and support to those affected.&nbsp;

EAM also expressed gratitude for the support extended by the Dominican Republic in evacuation of its nationals. The operation, spearheaded by Indian Ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Ramu Abbagani on the ground aims to relocate Indians from Haiti to the neighbouring Dominican Republic. &nbsp;

Amidst the chaos and uncertainty gripping Haiti, the evacuated Indian citizens expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Indian government for their prompt response and unwavering support during this challenging period.

The guards were holding rifles and continued blocking the border for the migrants, even though they were heavily outnumbered.

Some guards even placed their hands on the migrants to push them back as the scene became more chaotic.

Texas on Tuesday (Mar 19) started the process of implementing SB4, which is a new law that empowers state and local authorities to arrest people for illegally entering the country. Billionaire CEO Angela Chao was drunk when her car fell into pond, police say

The United States Department of Justice along with 15 states filed an antitrust lawsuit against Apple on Thursday (Mar 21) over monopolising the smartphone market.

Earlier, the competitors of the iPhone maker were sued by regulators, which include Alphabet's Google, Meta Platforms and Amazon.com across the administrations of both former president Donald Trump and President Joe Biden.

"Consumers should not have to pay higher prices because companies violate the antitrust laws," Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a statement. "If left unchallenged, Apple will only continue to strengthen its smartphone monopoly."

The Justice Department stated that Apple in terms of earnings outperforms its rival companies by charging up to $1,599 for an iPhone.&nbsp;

The officials additionally stated that Apple levies hidden fees on various business partners, including software developers, credit card firms, and also its competitors like Google, which eventually raises consumer costs and boosts Apple's profits.

<h2>Apple denies allegations</h2>

Apple rebuffed the allegations stating that the lawsuit threatened the core principles that set apart the products manufactured by the company in the industry.

"This lawsuit threatens who we are and the principles that set Apple products apart in fiercely competitive markets. If successful, it would hinder our ability to create the kind of technology people expect from Apple — where hardware, software, and services intersect," the iPhone maker said in a statement.

The 88-page lawsuit, filed in a US&nbsp;federal court in Newark, New Jersey, said it was focused on “freeing smartphone markets from Apple’s anticompetitive and exclusionary conduct and restoring competition to lower smartphone prices for consumers, reducing fees for developers, and preserving innovation for the future.”

The Justice Department along with the District of Columbia filed the lawsuit seeking changes at Apple.

An official said, "the remedy has to be tailored to the harm that we are required to prove at trial" and suggested that break-up or reduction of the size of Apple was one of the possibilities as it was noted that "structural relief is also a form of equitable relief."

"If left unchallenged, Apple will only continue to strengthen its smartphone monopoly." The Justice Department stated that Apple in terms of earnings outperforms its rival companies by charging up to $1,599 for an iPhone. The officials additionally stated that Apple levies hidden fees on various business partners, including software developers, credit card firms, and also its competitors like Google, which eventually raises consumer costs and boosts Apple's profits. If successful, it would hinder our ability to create the kind of technology people expect from Apple — where hardware, software, and services intersect," the iPhone maker said in a statement. The 88-page lawsuit, filed in a US federal court in Newark, New Jersey, said it was focused on “freeing smartphone markets from Apple’s anticompetitive and exclusionary conduct and restoring competition to lower smartphone prices for consumers, reducing fees for developers, and preserving innovation for the future.” The Justice Department along with the District of Columbia filed the lawsuit seeking changes at Apple. An official said, "the remedy has to be tailored to the harm that we are required to prove at trial" and suggested that break-up or reduction of the size of Apple was one of the possibilities as it was noted that "structural relief is also a form of equitable relief."
