In a key initiative, Indian Hajis arriving at Jeddah Airport will now have the opportunity to travel to Makkah via the Haramain High-Speed Train, smoothening the overall pilgrimage. Traditionally, all pilgrims travelling from Jeddah to Makkah have used buses provided by Saudi authorities. However, this year, special arrangements have been made by the Consulate General of India in Jeddah, in association with Saudi authorities, to transport around 32,000 Indian Hajis using the high-speed rail service. The Haramain High-Speed Train is capable of reaching speeds of up to 300 km/h, cutting the travel time by half compared to the bus service. This development marks a significant improvement in the logistical arrangements for the pilgrimage, enhancing the overall experience for the Hajis. On May 26, the inaugural journey of this new service was marked by the presence of key officials. Indian ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Dr Suhel Ajaz Khan, and Consul General Mohd Shahid Alam escorted the first group of Indian pilgrims on the train from Jeddah Airport to Makkah. "This is not only a first for Indian pilgrims but also an inaugural experience for Saudi authorities in transporting Hajis by train directly from Jeddah Airport to Makkah," Ambassador Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan said. The introduction of the high-speed train service is seen as a significant step towards improving the logistics of the Haj pilgrimage and also shows the collaborative efforts between Indian and Saudi authorities. Estonia’s Interior Minister Lauri Laanemets also noted the importance of UAVs amid the ongoing war in Ukraine.&nbsp;

“As we see in the case of Ukraine, there is a constant race between the adversaries to develop technology, and new ways to use drones are continually being found in warfare,” Laanemets said as quoted by The Baltic Times.

<h2>Why now?&nbsp;</h2>

Last year, several European countries, including Finland and Poland, which share a border with Russia accused Moscow of pushing its migrants to destabilise the nations and engage in “hybrid warfare”.&nbsp;

Hybrid attacks deploy non-military measures that tend to have an element of deniability, a method that Russia has been accused of using in European nations. Moscow has repeatedly denied these claims.&nbsp;

In a major U-turn, Biden administration to lift arms embargo on Saudi Arabia: Report

Severe turbulence on a Qatar Airways flight from Doha, bound for Ireland, injured 12 people aboard on Sunday (May 26), said Dublin Airport.

The wounded included six cabin crew and six passengers. However, the airport authorities said the plane landed safely as per how it was scheduled.

Flight QR017, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, landed shortly before 1 pm&nbsp;Dublin time (1200 GMT), said the airport.

"Upon landing, the aircraft was met by emergency services, including airport police and our fire and rescue department, due to six passengers and six crew [12 total] on board reporting injuries after the aircraft experienced turbulence while airborne over Turkey," Dublin Airport said in a statement.

"The Dublin Airport team continues to provide full assistance on the ground to passengers and airline staff," it added.

The incident, as per the passengers onboard the flight, lasted for less than 20 seconds and occurred when the drinks and food were served, reported Irish broadcaster RTE.

Following the episode, Qatar Airways released a statement saying that a "small number" of passengers and crew sustained minor injuries and that they were receiving medical attention.

It further said that an internal probe would be initiated into the matter.

The incident occurred just a few days after a Singapore Airlines flight, that took off from London, was forced to make an emergency landing in Bangkok due to severe turbulence.

This claimed the life of a 73-year-old British man and wounded 100 others, with a few of them still receiving medical treatment.

The head of a Bangkok hospital said that some of the passengers aboard the flight suffered skull, brain and spinal injuries.&nbsp;

It was carrying 211 passengers and 18 crew from London to Singapore.&nbsp;

"The number of patients in ICU remains the same," Adinun Kittiratanapaibool, Director of Bangkok's Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital told reporters, referring to the medical facility's intensive care unit.&nbsp;

He further added that the "meaning of those in ICU are those that need close attention". He mentioned that currently there were no life-threatening cases.&nbsp;

Kittiratanapaibool said that his staff were treating six people for skull and brain injuries, 22 for spinal injuries, and 13 for bone, muscle and other injuries.&nbsp;

"We have never treated people with these kinds of injuries caused by turbulence," he told reporters, further adding that the injuries at the hospital range from two to 83 in age.&nbsp;

“The attack targeted the shopping centre, where there were many people – this is clearly terrorism,” said Terekhov.&nbsp;

A report by Russian state news agency TASS citing a security source claimed that the missile strike destroyed a “military store and command post” inside the shopping centre.

After the attack on Saturday, the Ukrainian president took to Telegram and condemned the attack on an “obviously civilian” target. He also called the attack “vile” and slammed Russian President Vladimir Putin.&nbsp;

“Russia struck another brutal blow at our Kharkiv – at a construction hypermarket – on Saturday, right in the middle of the day,” said Zelensky.&nbsp;

Later on Saturday, a missile strike hit a residential building in the centre of the city and injured at least 18 people, said Synegubov.&nbsp;

The missile, according to Reuters, also left a crater several metres deep in the pavement at the foot of the building, which also had a post office, a beauty salon and a cafe.&nbsp;

While Ukrainian attacks on Saturday in Russia’s Belgorod which is close to the Ukrainian border killed at least four&nbsp;people, said regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov.&nbsp;

Gladkov took to Telegram and said three people were killed in the village of Oktyabrsky in a multiple rocket attack and one man died after being taken to a hospital.

The two shelling incidents, according to the Russian official, also left 12 people injured.&nbsp;

Such creators&nbsp;would&nbsp;also&nbsp;be able to&nbsp;make money using affiliating marketing tools on the short video platform.
