Soldiers are looking through mountainous forests in northern Malawi after an aircraft carrying Vice President Saulos Chilima and nine others went missing on Monday (June 10).

The plane carrying Vice President Saulos Chilima, former First Lady Shanil Dzimbiri&nbsp;and eight others departed from the capital, Lilongwe, at 9:17 am. The aircraft was scheduled to land 45 minutes later at Mzuzu International Airport, approximately 370 km (230 miles) to the north.

According to President Lazarus Chakwera’s address on broadcast live on state TV channel MBC on Monday night, air traffic control in Mzuzu had informed the pilots not to try landing and instead to turn around because of bad weather and poor visibility.

Chilima&nbsp;had been due to attend the funeral of Ralph Kasambara, a former minister of justice and attorney general, in the village of Chijere, east of Mzuzu.&nbsp;

The former minister was found dead after suffering heart failure last Friday, according to a government Facebook post.

It may be mentioned here that&nbsp;Malawi is experiencing heavy rains in some parts of the country, especially the north.

Chilima has been vice president since 2014. He earlier led the mobile network Airtel Malawi, as well as worked at Unilever, Coca Cola and Carlsberg, according to his profile on the government’s website.

Now, the service has been rolled out in all seven Emirates. The new platform will cater to 600,000 companies and more than seven million workers in the country and abroad.

Bi-ling also confirmed that the apprehended man was previously a Chinese Navy captain.

Taiwan Defence Minister Wellington Koo suggested that the incident could be an example of China's "grey zone" tactics.

"Grey zone" tactics against Taiwan refer to a set of strategies and actions that fall short of overt military aggression but are aimed at undermining Taiwan's sovereignty and increasing pressure on the island.

“These grey zone tactics have always existed,” Koo said while adding, “We must always maintain our vigilance and cannot rule out the possibility of taking countermeasures.”

Renaming foreign places with Chinese names has been a widely-used geopolitical tool of an expansionist China over the past decades. Now, New Delhi looks all set to give Beijing a taste of its own medicine. According to a Diplomat report, India has started the process of renaming more than two dozen places in Tibet currently held by China in the so-called Tibet Autonomous Region. The magazine quoted sources in the Indian military as saying that the list of 30 new names could be publicised soon after the new government settles in.&nbsp;

China has renamed regions in the northeast Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh in the past in order to strengthen its territorial claims. In March this year, Beijing renamed 30 locations in Arunachal Pradesh with Chinese names, a move that was rejected by India.&nbsp;

"This is not a new issue. I mean, China has laid claim, it has expanded its claim. The claims are ludicrous to begin with and remain ludicrous today,” said External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on March 23 while reacting to the development.

This was the fourth time that Beijing had moved to change the geographical names in the Indian state.

<h2>The brain behind the bold move</h2>

According to the report, the Indian Army's information warfare wing is overseeing the renaming process. The wing has been doing extensive research with support from top Indian institutes to debunk the Chinese names and come up with ancient names in Indian languages.

“The ultimate target is to push through the Indian counter-narrative on the disputed border through regional and global media, anchored on both solid historical research and local residents’ vox pops,” the report quoted an Indian military officer as saying.

According to experts, by taking the bold move, the new government would like to revive Prime Minister Narendra Modi's strongman image.

Blinken, as per Reuters, said that Hamas remains the only outlier in not accepting the three-phase deal involving the release of hostages and cessation of hostilities, a proposal to which Israel has agreed.

"My message to governments throughout the region, to people throughout the region, is if you want a ceasefire, press Hamas to say yes," Blinken told reporters in Egypt after meeting with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.&nbsp;

Talking to Reuters, a senior Hamas official called Blinken's comments "biased to Israel."

After Egypt, Blinken travelled to Israel, where he updated Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the "ongoing diplomatic efforts to plan for the post-conflict period."

State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said in a readout of the meeting that Blinken also "reiterated that the proposal on the table would unlock the possibility of calm along Israel's northern border and further integration with countries in the region."

Ceasefire talks have intensified following Biden's proposal, with CIA director William Burns engaging with Qatari and Egyptian officials in Doha. Despite repeated assertions from Biden about imminent ceasefires, only a single week-long truce occurred in November.&nbsp;On Monday, the United Nations Security Council also overwhelmingly backed Biden's proposal.
