<p>In an audio tape broadcast as Hamas fired thousands of rockets on October 7,&nbsp;Deif&nbsp;named the raid "Al-Aqsa Flood", signalling the attack was payback for Israeli raids at Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa mosque.</p>

<p>A source close to Hamas told the news agency Reuters that Deif&nbsp;began planning the operation in May 2021, after a raid on Islam's third holiest site that enraged the Arab and Muslim world.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“It is surprising but, to get all the details of that will come out later in the investigation," said&nbsp;Kevin Rojek, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Pittsburgh field office when quizzed he was surprised at the number of shots.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"The Secret Service really needs to answer that question,” Rojek stated, adding that the FBI was only there to support the Secret Service who were in charge of securing the scene.&nbsp;</p>

<p>While the FBI seemingly threw the Secret Service under the bus&nbsp;Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Col. George Bivens came to their rescue.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“In their defence, what I would want to say is it is incredibly difficult to have a venue open to the public and secure that against any possible threat against a determined attacker, that’s a huge lift to try and do it,” Bivens told reporters.<br />
