Six people, including three militants, were killed as guards opened fire in a bid to prevent the inmates from escaping, according to prison sources.

The incident occurred on Tuesday (August 6) afternoon when a mob began protesting outside the jail.

Local sources reported that some inmates took a guard hostage and demanded the release of other detainees, and all&nbsp;efforts to defuse the situation failed.

In the meantime, the relatives of prisoners gathered at the gate upon hearing about the protest. At one point, the protesters set fire to a jute warehouse outside the jail.

Subrata Kumar Bala, the superintendent of Kashimpur High-Security Central Jail, said some prisoners protested for the release of detainees, while the inmates used ladders to climb over the wall and escape.

The 46-year-old Asif Merchant plotted to assassinate current and former government officials across the political spectrum, including former President Donald Trump, multiple sources familiar with the investigation claim.

Suzuki said that the decision aims to keep the ceremony peaceful and centred on honouring the victims. However, some critics argue that excluding Israel is a political move that undermines the fight against terrorism and global unity, the report said.

The decision to leave out Cohen from Nagasaki’s atomic bomb commemoration, while including representatives from countries with serious human rights issues, has sparked concerns, according to the Times.

Since the&nbsp;man&nbsp;had already been in custody for two months, he would only have to serve two out of the four months of his sentence, Nielsen added.

The prime minister's office declined to comment.

Bangladesh army chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman said Wednesday that a new interim government was likely to be sworn in on Thursday evening after Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus returned to the country.

"We are trying our best to hold the oath-taking ceremony tomorrow," the general said in a televised briefing. "We might do it at around 8:00 pm (1400 GMT). Around 400 hundred people will likely be present."

The 84-year-old will lead a caretaker government after mass protests forced longtime prime minister Sheikh Hasina to resign and flee, the presidency has said.
