After the students' quota protest went out of control, Hasina was forced to resign as the PM and escape to New Delhi to chart her future course of action. Meanwhile, the protesters razed her official residence while violence broke out in several parts of the country with the minorities being the main targets.&nbsp;

Speaking to WION, Hasina's son, Sajeeb Wazed said Bangladesh was on its way to becoming the next Pakistan as anarchy was rampant.&nbsp;

"After all she [Hasina] has done, after all the development, Bangladesh will now become Pakistan," said Wazed.&nbsp;

"Developments in Bangladesh are terrible. It's anarchy, you have no rule of law. You have mobs running the streets, vandalising homes, factories and from what I've heard now they're attacking minorities. You know, the militants are attacking minorities and Hindu temples. So Bangladesh is actually in a state of anarchy."

"So they are now hunting our Awami League leaders and the interim government doesn't even include the Awami League, so why would we bother? People have made their choice and they will get the leadership they deserve."

According to reports,&nbsp;Bangladesh’s Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus is set to become the head of the country's interim government on Thursday (Aug 8).&nbsp;

Between June 2023 and June 2024, every month eclipsed its own temperature record for the time of the year.&nbsp;

But "the overall situation hasn't changed, climate crisis is deepening," said Burgess.

"The devastating effects of climate change started well before 2023 and will continue until global greenhouse gas emissions reach net zero," she further said.

As recorded from January to July global temperatures were 0.70C above the 1991-2020 average.&nbsp;

This irregularity would need to drop considerably for the remaining year for 2024 not to be hotter than 2023 -- "making it increasingly likely that 2024 is going to be the warmest year on record", said C3S.&nbsp;

It may be mentioned here, July 2024 was 1.48C warmer than the estimated average temperatures for the month during the period 1850-1900, before the world started to swiftly burn fossil fuels.

This has resulted in unbearable heat for hundreds of millions of people.

In a segment of a CBS interview aired on Wednesday (Aug 7), Biden said, he was "not confident at all" about peaceful transitions.

The 81-year-old Biden dropped out of the White House race in July and was replaced by Vice President Harris as the Democratic presidential nominee.

A Labour Party councillor has been arrested by the UK police after he called for far-right protesters’ throats to be cut. Councillor Ricky Jones was earlier suspended from the party after he was filmed making a provocative address in Walthamstow Wednesday (Aug 7). The Metropolitan police said a man in his 50s has been arrested under the Public Order Act.

As per Reuters, Morgan, from Walton, played a role in the destruction of Spellow Lane Library, while O'Malley was seen leading a "baying mob" outside a mosque in Southport.

Despite his age, the 69-year-old Morgan was armed with a wooden truncheon and had to be restrained by three police officers during the unrest.

"Your advancing years plainly did not prevent you from playing an active part in a disturbance on County Road," said the judge while sentencing Morgan, reports BBC.

"I think it is very sad indeed to see someone of your age and character in the dock of a Crown Court," he added.

O'Malley had previously admitted to violent disorder for his actions during the riot on July 30, a day after the knife attack that killed the three girls at a Taylor Swift-themed event in Southport.&nbsp;

The court was shown footage of rioters attacking police with stones and wheelie bins, forcing officers without riot gear to retreat under a barrage of missiles.

Britain's most senior police officer, London Commissioner Mark Rowley, reported that over 400 people had been arrested across the country in connection with the riots, with more arrests made on Thursday morning. The government has secured additional prison spaces to accommodate those involved in the violence.
