<p>The Supreme Court on Tuesday (August 27) granted conditional bail to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Kavitha, who was arrested earlier this year in connection with the Delhi liquor policy scam. Kavitha, who was taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in March, and by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) a month later, was released following a decision by a two-judge Supreme Court bench of Justices BR Gavai and KV Viswanathan.</p>

<p>Kavitha's arrest is part of a broader investigation into the Delhi liquor policy scam, which also implicates Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his former deputy, Manish Sisodia.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sisodia, who was arrested in February last year, was granted bail earlier this month by the Supreme Court, which cited delays in the trial and the need to uphold his fundamental rights.</p>

<p>"We find the investigation is complete. As such, custody of the appellant is not necessary... she is in jail for five months and, as observed with Sisodia, the likelihood of trial in the near future is impossible," the bench stated.</p>

<p>The court also said that the law provides special consideration for women when reviewing bail applications. They referred to Section 45 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, which allows for the release of certain categories of accused individuals, including women, without meeting the standard twin requirements for bail.</p>

Austrian newspaper, Kronen Zeitung, reported that the victim was a 33-year-old man who was flown by air ambulance to Graz University Hospital, in southeastern Austria after getting injured in a forestry incident in January.</p>

<p>He was operated upon in an emergency surgery and the 13-year-old girl was allegedly also inside the operation room. The newspaper reported that she even drilled a hole in his skull.</p>

<p>The revelation was made in April after an anonymous complaint was filed with the public prosecutor's office. The victim was only informed about what had transpired in the operation theatre three more months later in July. Even though the surgery went well, the man is unable to get back to work.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Graz public prosecutor's office is conducting an inquiry into the entire surgical team. The surgeon and another specialist have reportedly been fired by the hospital.</p>

<p>The victim came to know about the alleged act through the media first, and later when officials told him he was a witness in a case. Slamming&nbsp;the incident, his lawyer, Peter Freiberger said, "You lie there. Unwilling, unconscious, and become guinea pigs. There's probably no other way to put it... that's not possible."</p>

<p>A stunning claim was made by a scientist who said that he had finally figured out the "perfect hiding place" for&nbsp;Malaysian&nbsp;Airlines MH370, more than a decade after the plane mysteriously disappeared.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In 2014, the Malaysia Airlines flight suddenly disappeared from radar&nbsp;after it took off. The plane had 239 people on board, which included six Australians.</p>

<p>Study author Dr Jasmohan Bajaj from Virginia Commonwealth University, said, “We need to increase awareness that cirrhosis and related brain complications are common, silent, but treatable when found."</p>

<p>“Undiagnosed cirrhosis and potential hepatic encephalopathy can be a treatable cause of or contributor towards cognitive impairment in patients diagnosed with dementia," Dr Bajaj added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"This flawed decision and extraordinary fine are completely unjustified," Uber spokesperson Caspar Nixon told Reuters in an email.</p>

<p>"Uber’s cross-border data transfer process was compliant with GDPR during a 3-year period of immense uncertainty between the EU and US," he added, saying the company would appeal and was confident that "common sense will prevail".</p>

<p>As for the Senate, the Republican still led with a 67 per cent chance of taking the majority, which was an 11 per cent fall from when Biden led the Democratic ticket.&nbsp;</p>
