A stellar achievement, this story will be remembered as an impressive example of international cooperation.
When on the morning of July 9, I reached Chiang Rai, little could have prepared me for what is next. Withing 4 hours of my landing, we were on road to Tham Luang caves.
The caves, the city of Chaing Rai are at the trijunction of Myanmar, Laos and Thailand. A remote area in northern Thailand, the area is covered under thick forest. We reached the caves by 1 pm local time.
By that time the area had a full-fledged media centre, even though it was a temporary one. You name the country and it's media was present. From Canada to Germany to Australia. We even met a bunch while in the plane to Chiang Rai. It was a story that had caught the global attention.
A story of the human will to fight against all odds and come out successfully. Biggest issue and challenge was heavy monsoon rains. Thailand is under the cover monsoon and heavy rains can inundate the caves.
The first four boys from a soccer team in Thailand were rescued from the cave on Sunday, July 8.

The rescue team re-entered the cave on July 9. Four more boys are rescued over nine hours.
On July 10, the rescue operation started early at 10 am local time. The international media and the world was waiting with bated breath. That day it rained twice.Something nobody wanted.
Will the boys be saved? Everyone waited. Then around 5 pm local time, News broke.
The story apparently, will soon become a story. But for media and people present on the ground. It was a life-changing experience. I have covered summits, bilateral summits. All are choreographed events. Events in which everything is pre-decided.
This was different. This was people cutting across nationalities, barriers of languages and burying the differences to come together. In a world full of negative stories, of wars and civil wars.
Of people fighting with each other, there was a story of people coming together to help each other. A stellar achievement, this story will be remembered as an impressive example of international cooperation.
