An US judge declared the Trump administration's deployation of national guards in Los Angeleles an illegal act. The judge, Charles Breyer said on Tuesday (September 2) that the use of 4,000 National Guard and 700 active duty US Marines to Los Angeles in June was the violated of the Posse Comitatus Act.
White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly said that “a rogue judge is trying to usurp the authority of the Commander-in-Chief to protect American cities from violence and destruction.” The ruling is on hold 12 September.
"The President is committed to protecting law-abiding citizens, and this will not be the final say on the issue," Ms Kelly said.
Governor Gavin Newsom said in a statement that "the court sided with democracy and the Constitution."

A US federal court ruled on Friday (August 29) that most of President Donald Trump's tariffs, including the 50 per cent on India, were illegal. The federal appeals court said that the American president had exceeded his authority in imposing them.
The decision marks a blow to Trump, who has wielded duties as a wide-ranging economic policy tool. Although the ruling allowed the tariffs to stay in place for now, while sent the case back to a lower court for further consideration.
