Record-breaking rains have unleashed devastation across Maharashtra, claiming at least 13 lives and triggering floods, landslides and building collapses. Lonavala recorded a staggering 670 mm of rainfall in a single day, while Mumbai witnessed widespread disruption, including a deadly chawl collapse and hundreds of fallen trees. Rescue teams, including the NDRF, remain on the ground as authorities stay on high alert. With the IMD issuing red alerts for several districts, the state is bracing for more extreme weather in the coming days.
