An Australian sailor who was rescued with his dog after more than two months unanchored in the Pacific Ocean arrived in Mexico on Tuesday. "I am so grateful. I'm alive," he said.

Tim Shaddock, who survived on raw fish and rainwater for weeks on his boat with dog 'Bella', was rescued by a tuna vessel.

He&nbsp;arrived at the Mexican port of Manzanillo on Tuesday, looking thin and feeble.

"To the captain and this fishing company that saved my life, I mean, what do you say? I'm just so grateful," news agency AFP quoted Shaddock as saying.

"I'm alive... I really didn't think I'd make it, you know? So thank you, thank you so much."&nbsp;

Shaddock, who as per Grupomar is 54 years old, had set off from Mexico's seaside city of La Paz in the month of April with his dog. He had planned to sail about 6,000 kilometres (3,700 miles) before dropping anchor in tropical French Polynesia.

But soon after they set off, they found themselves deserted after rough seas destroyed the vessel, which he described as a French Polynesian traditional boat named "Aloha Toa," and knocked out its electronics.

On Tuesday, Shaddock told reporters he was "feeling alright. A little better than I was."

He said his health was "pretty bad for a while, I was pretty hungry."&nbsp;

On being asked by reporters, Shaddock said that he did a lot of fishing during the voyage, especially after his provisions ran out.

However, he lost his cooking utensils, "so it was a lot of chewing of 'sushi'," he jokingly remarked and indicated how "skinny" he had become.

Shaddock recounted there were "many, many, many bad days" at sea, but also good ones.

"The fatigue is the hardest part, you're always fixing something," he said of the ordeal.

"I would try and find the happiness inside myself, and I found that a lot alone at sea. I would go in the water too, and just enjoy being in the water."

<h2>Shaddock praises&nbsp;dog Bella</h2>

Shaddock appreciated his dog Bella, who he said he had found in Mexico.

"She just kept following me onto the water," he said of adopting the dog after several failed attempts to get her another home.

"She's amazing. That dog is something else," he laughed. "I'm just grateful she's alive. She is a lot braver than I am."

He then said he was looking forward to meeting his family and friends and getting back to his home safely.

He would "probably not" head out to sea again in the near future, he admitted.

"I'll always be in the water," he said, though "I don't know how far out in the ocean I'll be."

For Grupomar boss Antonio Suarez, the rescue was proof that 'life is beautiful'.

"We were responsible for saving the life of a human being and the little dog that accompanied him," he told reporters.

"We have medical services on our vessels. He fell into good hands."

The United States has been ranked first, while Russia and China are placed second and third, respectively.

The list, which looks into the strengths of 143 countries’ forces, has also included the nations which have the weakest military force in the world.

The data looks at more than 60 individual factors “ranging from the quantity of military units and financial standing to logistical capabilities and geography" to determine a nation's PwrIndex.

The PwrIndex gives scores to countries based on their conventional fighting capability. &nbsp;

“The smaller the PwrIndex value, the more powerful a nation's conventional fighting capability is," GFP says.

Hence, a perfect PwrIndex value would be 0.000, which the GFP says is realistically unattainable.

“Our unique, in-house formula allows for smaller (and) more technologically-advanced nations to compete with larger (and) lesser-developed powers… special modifiers, in the form of bonuses and penalties, are applied to further refine the list which is compiled annually. Trends do not necessarily indicate a declining power as changes to the GFP formula can also account for this," it says.

A climate report on Monday claimed that Europe needs to brace itself for more deadly heatwaves which are led by climate change, emphasising that it has emerged as the fastest-warming continent of the world, with its temperature rising by 2.3 degree&nbsp;Celsius last year compared to that in pre-industrial times.

The report, prepared by the World Meteorological Organisation and the European Union's Copernicus Climate Change Service, said that the increasing temperature will lead to record sea-surface temperatures, unprecedented glacier melt and crop-withering drought.&nbsp;

Since the 1980s, Europe has been warming twice the global average and witnessed its warmest summer on record last year as countries like France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom faced their warmest year on record.

Since the mid-1800s, the world has warmed at an average of around 1.2C, leading to a devastating cascade of extreme weather, which includes more severe droughts in a few areas, more intense heatwaves and storms which will be made more ferocious by rising seas.&nbsp;

<h2>Vulnerable people, poorest countries hardest hit</h2>

The most vulnerable people and the poorest countries of the world will be the hardest hit, who have not taken enough steps to contribute to the fossil fuel emissions that increase temperatures. However, the impact of climate change has been becoming increasingly severe across the world, as rapid warming can be witnessed in regions in the northern hemisphere and around the poles.

The high temperatures in Europe "exacerbated the severe and widespread drought conditions, fuelled violent wildfires that resulted in the second largest burnt area on record, and led to thousands of heat-associated excess deaths," stated WMO Secretary-General Petteri Taalas.

Across the continent, temperatures rose 1.5C in 30 years from 1991 to 2021, as per the report of The State of the Climate in Europe 2022. The report stated that last year severe heat killed more than 16,000 people, while damages caused by floods and storms accounted for $2 billion.&nbsp;

"Unfortunately, this cannot be considered a one-off occurrence or an oddity of the climate," stated Copernicus Director Carlo Buontempo in the report.

"Our current understanding of the climate system and its evolution informs us that these kinds of events are part of a pattern that will make heat stress extremes more frequent and more intense across the region," he added.&nbsp;

The report stated that economies and ecosystems have suffered due to increasing temperatures. A new record mass loss was recorded by the glaciers in the Alps in 2022, which is caused by a hot summer, very low winter levels of snow, as well as deposits of wind-blown Saharan dust.

"Solar and wind tend to complement each other throughout the year: solar radiation is higher in late spring and summer while wind intensity is usually higher in winter," the report stated.&nbsp;

While there has been no significant trend in wind or rain patterns in Europe over the last 30 years, the report said there was a marked increase in sunlight, with 2022 seeing the highest amount of solar radiation since recordkeeping&nbsp;began in 1983.&nbsp;
