A UK charity group has discovered an eerie&nbsp;surprise just in time for Halloween. It has found strange carvings known as witches’ marks on the walls of a Tudor property in England. The carvings, also known as apotropaic marks, were believed to have provided ritual protection against evil.

English Heritage, a charity that looks after hundreds of historic monuments, buildings and sites, found the markings on Gainsborough Old Hall. According to a statement, the group found a “staggering array” of designs with most of them being concentrated in the servants’ wing of the hall.&nbsp;

The statement added that Henry VIII and his then Queen, Catherine Howard once visited the manor house. Rick Berry,&nbsp;an English Heritage volunteer found the witches' marks after mapping around 20 carvings inside the grand building for two years.&nbsp;

The remains of a hexafoil, a marking to trap demons, were also found in the building. The hexafoil would ordinarily be a six-petal design inside simple circles, but all that has been found are the circles. CNN quoted a spokesperson as saying that the petals likely faded away or that drawing them would have been beyond the skills of the carver.

Another type of marking found was overlapping Vs, also known as Marian marks. As per certain beliefs, these marks are believed by some to be a call for protection from the Virgin Mary. A pentangle has also been found which was used to protect against evil.

The statement further elaborated on the findings at the Tudor property where a curse seems to have been put on former owner William Hickman. The property was owned by him from 1596.&nbsp;

His name was found etched upside down and the witches' marks were “probably” made around that time, the charity wrote on X. Defacing someone’s name was a way to curse that person at that time. Surprisingly, the practice is normally associated with the Roman and Anglo-Saxon periods and has never previously been found at an English Heritage property.

Nearly 100 marks believed to protect against fire were also uncovered at the property.

Kevin Booth, head of collections at English Heritage, said in the release, "The Old Hall has undoubtedly had a tumultuous past, not least under the ownership of the apparently unpopular William Hickman, but why it’s the scene of quite such a high concentration of protective carvings remains a mystery."

A nature lover and nurse in Canada claimed to have captured bizarre footage on her security camera. It supposedly shows&nbsp;“two witches holding a carcass-eating ritual”. The scary video was captured in the camera that the woman had installed near her home, according to a report published by Fox News.

“I don’t know what the heck was up with that,” said 36-year-old Corinea Stanhope, of Powell River, British Columbia, while speaking to Kennedy News. “It really freaked us out, it’s not something you see every day," she added.&nbsp;

Stanhope said that she came across a deer carcass which was present in the garden inside her property. She added that she set up the camera to check if any animal would take interest in the dead deer.&nbsp;

“Me and my grandpa put up a trail camera to see if we could see animals, and we got a bobcat (on camera), which was pretty cool,” Stanhope said, further stating that the video footage of the topless women feeding on the dead carcass left her 76-year-old grandfather Bob horrified.&nbsp;

“I came the next day, and grandpa said he’d got naked people on the camera, and I said, ‘No, you didn’t. Bulls**t.’ So, he showed me,” she stated.&nbsp;

Stanhope further emphasised that the carcass-eaters had apparently emerged about 10 minutes after sunset and looked “dishevelled” and appeared to be wearing wigs.

“You can’t really tell from the photos, but the hoof was brought right up to her mouth,” Stanhope said. “I don’t know if she was kissing it, smelling or eating it, but to touch a decaying carcass like that makes me feel sick – the amount of bacteria that must have been on there," she added.

“Maybe they were paying their respects, but they were naked,” the nature lover further stated.&nbsp;

Stanhope admitted that she was “creeped out” because the incident happened just a two-minute walk from her house. She said that she was fearing for the safety of her horses.

“I was concerned about them messing with my horses at night. The horses always get really spooked and unnerved around that area. I thought they imagined stuff at first, so I didn’t think anything of it. Maybe I believe them now," she said.&nbsp;

Madara declined to provide details of what the latest ritual will entail.

More than 15,000 people who have seen Catland Books promotions on Facebook have expressed interest in attending the event, vastly exceeding the shop's 60-person capacity.

Not everyone is a witchcraft fan. Madara said she had fielded numerous irate calls from critics, with at least one threatening violence. “Every time we host something like this there’s always people who like to call in with death threats or read us scripture," she said.

As far as supporters go, some are sexual assault survivors still angry that the US&nbsp;Senate confirmed Kavanaugh's lifetime appointment to the nation's highest court despite accusations that he had sexually assaulted multiple women.

Kavanaugh has denied the allegations, and an FBI investigation failed to corroborate his accusers' accounts.

Democrats hope lingering outrage over Kavanaugh, particularly among women, will translate into election gains for them on November&nbsp;6. Republicans are likewise trying to seize on anger among conservatives at how they perceive Kavanaugh was mistreated.

Believers in mysticism on both sides of the political divide are taking matters into their own hands.

Plans for the Catland Books event have sparked "counter hexes" around the country by those seeking to undo the spell that the Brooklyn witches cast against Kavanaugh, Madara said.

Even mainstream clergy was joining the fray. Rev. Gary Thomas of the Diocese of San Jose in California said on Friday that he would include Kavanaugh in his prayers at Saturday mass.
