A US man tragically died in a Florida hospital after the doctor operating on him mistakenly removed his wrong organ. 70-year-old William Bryan was admitted to Ascension Sacred Heart Emerald Coast Hospital after he experienced lower left abdominal pain while visiting a rental property with his wife Beverly.

The doctors there recommended he undergo surgery after flagging concerns regarding an abnormality of the spleen.

Now, according to a lawyer representing the man’s widow, the doctor, identified as Shaknovsky, mistakenly removed William’s liver and attempted to pass it off as an “enlarged spleen.”

A Facebook post by the law firm alleged that the surgical cut resulted in "immediate and catastrophic blood loss resulting in death."

"From the records, it appears that both physicians were involved in the discussion as to the appropriateness of the planned procedure and the capabilities of the facility to accommodate&nbsp;such," the law firm wrote.

The doctors allegedly told Beverly later that her husband's "spleen" was so diseased that it was four times bigger than usual and had migrated to the other side of his body.

"The family was informed that Mr Bryan's spleen, the root of his original symptom profile upon presentation to the hospital, was still in his body and appeared with a small cyst on its surface," the law firm said.

The law firm also cited a 2023 surgery by Shaknovsky, claiming he had done a “wrong-site surgery” previously where he removed a portion of a patient's pancreas instead of performing the intended adrenal gland resection.

William Bryan’s wife has now launched a campaign through her legal firm to get “justice” and make sure Shaknovsky loses his license.

"My husband died while helpless on the operating room table, by Dr&nbsp;Shaknovsky. I don't want anyone else to die due to his incompetence at a hospital that should have known or knew he had previously made drastic, life-altering surgical mistakes," the widow said in a statement.

Prior to the arrest, police officers conducted an exhaustive search, spending nearly three hours going door to door in the vast apartment complex, until they found the victim's location in an apartment.

Although the suspect had fled the scene, the officers managed to apprehend him within two hours of locating the victim.

According to the police, Mechikoff was acquainted with the victim.

Police in the US city of&nbsp;Detroit&nbsp;launched a manhunt Sunday for a suspect believed to have shot four people at "random", killing three of them, authorities said.

The Midwestern city's police chief, James White, told media that the first three victims -- two women and a man -- were found shot multiple times in separate locations around the city in the early hours of the morning.

A fourth man spotted the suspect peering into car windows and told him to stop, White said. The suspect shot him once.

Three of the victims died and one survived, police told local media. Photographs of the suspect have been released to the public as authorities urged anyone who recognized him to call the police.

The shootings appear "to be very random," White told a press conference.

"One was waiting on a bus, one was walking his dog, and one was just on the street," he said.

Detroit&nbsp;mayor Mike Duggan told reporters that agents from "multiple agencies" were "scouring several square miles right now, waiting for the individual to resurface."

"This individual has already shot four people today," he said, appealing for anyone who might know the suspect to come forward.&nbsp;

The shootings were not the only incident of deadly gun violence in the United States on Sunday.

Authorities in the Texan city of Houston said that three people were shot dead there by a gunman who first set fire to their home.

"This suspect unfortunately, and very sadly, and very evilly, set fire to several residences, laid wait for those residents to come out, and fired upon them," Houston police chief Troy Finner told another press conference.

Firefighters tackling the blaze also had to take cover from the gunman, he said.&nbsp;

Police then arrived and shot the man dead.&nbsp;

The gunman had recently been told he would be evicted, Finner said, adding that "may have been a trigger point" for him, but that police were investigating.

Meanwhile, an NFL football player was shot in the capital Washington, but is in stable condition, the Washington Post newspaper reported.

Brian Robinson Jr, a running back with the Washington Commanders, was shot twice during a possible carjacking, the Post reported, citing police.

He was taken to hospital and his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, the newspaper said.

The United States is regularly rocked by shootings, with lawmakers reluctant to pass gun control legislation despite it being popular with most Americans.

The investigation is currently going on and the woman is still at large, police said. &nbsp;

The cops are searching for a black woman, who is in her late 20s to mid-30s on the charges of "malicious injury by caustic agent." "That was the obsession for me," said Juan, who moved to the United States in 2007 to work as an actor. "I grew up seeing Mommy suffering so much ... that was my big desire, to try to do something in this situation."

Years later, Juan found the man who had taken Jhonatan on social media, but the man died before they could meet.

Then he received an email from DNA company MyHeritage about a competition it was holding to win a free DNA testing kit for the most compelling family story.

"I start praying and praying ... And that email popped up in my computer," he said. "So I sent the story of my brother. They replied to me: they approved me."

Juan, a devout Christian, said God told him that once he completed the DNA test, his brother would do the same and contact him. "And that`s exactly how it happened."

In 2019, Juan got a message from a 34-year-old lawyer in Norway, who said he had been adopted at age 4 and was trying to find his biological family.

"The (DNA) result suggests you are my half brother, uncle or nephew," the message said. "It seems I am closer to finding more information about what happened in Colombia in the 80s."

Juan went to Norway in January 2020 to meet Jhonatan, now John. The brothers then returned to Colombia.

"I always wanted to find my family," said Jhonatan. "It was hard for me going through all my childhood, not knowing about my biological family."

Jhonatan grew up knowing he had been adopted from Colombia, but had been told his biological parents abandoned him, taking him to an orphanage in the city of Ibague. He only learned about his abduction when he met his biological family.

Trapped in Colombia by a coronavirus lockdown on a second visit last year, Jhonatan studied Spanish and celebrated all the birthdays he had missed with his Colombian family, including with delighted mother Ana.

Ana says she never lost hope of seeing Jhonatan again and knew in her heart he was alive and would return someday.

"We can never get back the 32 years we missed," Jhonatan said. "But we can make the next 32 the most amazing moments in our lives."

An American bitcoin investor could face the death penalty after Thailand's navy accused him of violating the country's sovereignty by building a "seastead" home off the coast, which he insisted was simply in pursuit of a vision of "freedom".

Chad Elwartowski and his Thai girlfriend Supranee Thepdet, known as "Bitcoin Girl Thailand", are facing charges of threatening the kingdom's independence after authorities found their ocean-based home about 12 nautical miles from shore.

But Elwartowski told AFP their home was 13 nautical miles out, which he said is just outside Thailand's territorial waters.

An official complaint was filed to a Phuket police station, police colonel Nikorn Somsuk confirmed Wednesday.

"The navy and its team... found a concrete tank floating on the sea but there was no one on it," Nikorn told AFP. "So they filed a charge citing criminal code article 119."

If they are officially charged and found guilty, the maximum sentence Elwartowski and Supranee could face is the death penalty.

Nikorn said the navy would have to meet with provincial officials "to consider what to do next".

The Royal Thai Navy said on Facebook the couple "did not seek permission from Thailand" before constructing their home.

Putting a call out to other interested investors also shows "they do not care about Thailand as a sovereign state."

But Elwartowski, who worked as a software engineer for the US military in Afghanistan, Germany and South Korea, told AFP he and Supranee just wanted to live somewhere free.

"I like the idea of being able to vote with your home. If you don't like how your community is being run, you just float to a new one," he said.&nbsp;

The Bitcoin-rich couple are part of Ocean Builders, a community of entrepreneurs who aim to build permanent homes in waters outside of government territory.

They had recently called for 20 interested investors for new seasteads to be built around their maiden platform, which is "just outside of Thailand's territorial waters," said Elwartowski.&nbsp;

On April 10, he put out a call for people to invest in an "Initial Seastead Offering" which would have launched on April 15.

The "ISeaO" is now postponed, and Elwartowski said he and Supranee, whose English name is Nadia, just want to live together in peace.

"We didn't do anything on the seastead that was not legal on land but the feeling of being free is just amazing."

Some advocates of "seasteading" believe in creating "competing governments on the high seas", he said.

But Ocean Builders "never took a political stance" on the homes' purpose.

"That was for the customers to decide," he said.&nbsp;

The couple is now hiding in "a fairly safe place".

A statement published Monday on Ocean Builders' website said Elwartowski and Supranee were not responsible for the construction of the seastead.

US man could face death penalty over building 'sea home' in Thailand

A man was arrested on charges of hate crime in the state of California, US after he punched a Sikh clerk and threw hot coffee on him as he believed the victim was a Muslim, according to a media report.

The man, identified as John Crain, threw the hot coffee at the clerk then punched him in the face before fleeing just before 2 am on Wednesday in Marysville, the Sacramento Bee reported.

The Sikh clerk told officers that John Crain had prepared himself a cup of coffee and attempted to leave without paying, according to a Marysville Police Department press release.

He is seen in the CCTV footage confronting John Crain at the front door before being attacked. The victim suffered injuries from the hot coffee, as well as a contusion on his face, police said.

Police said officers were dispatched to the same store later that afternoon for another reported assault and spotted John Crain walking away from the area.

Later that day, officers responded to another assault in the area and found a suspect walking away matching the description of the man from the earlier incident. The suspect was arrested.

John Crain admitted to the officers that he had assaulted the clerk during the previous night's incident.

He told police he "hated Muslims" and attacked the Sikh clerk because he believed he's Muslim. He was later booked into Yuba County Jail for theft, assault and hate crimes charges.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations and its allies from the Sikh community condemned the attack.

"We condemn this attack on an individual because of his faith. This hate crime represents yet another attack on our Sikh brothers and sisters fuelled by Islamophobia and those emboldened by this administration's xenophobic policies and sentiments," CAIR-SV's Civil Rights Attorney Saad Sweilem said in a statement.

"We welcome the hate crime charges and encourage law enforcement to continue to take these clear incidents of bias seriously."

A US man accused of killing India engineer Srinivas Kuchibhotla last year has been sentenced to life in prison. US Navy veteran Adam Purinton pleaded guilty in March of killing Srinivas in a racially motivated hate crime at a bar in Kansas city last year.&nbsp;

52-year-old Purinton was charged with first-degree murder of Kuchibhotla. He was also charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder of Kuchibhotla's friend, Alok Madasani, and a bystander who had chased Purinton after he fled the bar.

According to reports, Purinton, yelled, "Get out of my country," before shooting Kuchibhotla, who succumbed to injuries and was declared dead.

Purinton was sentenced to life in prison by a federal judge in Kansas yesterday. He will also serve 165 months imprisonment for each of the other two murder charges.

Kuchibhotla's wife Sunayana Dumala welcomed the court's decision but added that the ruling will not get back her deceased husband.

"Today's sentencing in the murder of my husband will not bring back my Srinu, but it sends a strong message that hate is never acceptable," Dumala said in a statement.

"I want to thank the District Attorney's office and the Olathe police for their efforts to bring this man to justice," she added.

Srinivas, 33, hailed from Hyderabad and moved to the&nbsp;US to study engineering at the University of Texas. He worked as an aviation systems engineer at Garmin. Srinivas used to meet his friends customarily at Kansas's Austin's Bar and Grill where the tragic incident occurred on February 22 last year.&nbsp;

Srinivas' murder sparked international outcry and raised debates over hate crimes and racial bullying in the country shortly after President Donald Trump's inauguration.&nbsp;
