He said it was too early to say whether Ukraine's gain and Russian retreat in the eastern parts of the country were indicative of a turning point in the war. Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24. It calls the invasion a 'special military operation'.

"I think what you're seeing is certainly a shift in momentum by the Ukrainian armed forces," Kirby said, but Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should be the one to "determine and decide whether he feels militarily they've reached a turning point."&nbsp;

Despite the "dramatic events..., it's war and war is unpredictable."&nbsp;

"What we're going to do is continue to support him," Kirby said.&nbsp;

Kirby said US weaponry had been "instrumental" in Ukraine's ability to hit back at the Russians, and that "we're in lockstep with the Ukrainians."&nbsp;

As for Moscow's claims that it had not suffered a defeat in the latest battle, but was simply moving its troops, Kirby said: "They're calling it a repositioning but certainly they have withdrawn in the face of Ukrainian armed forces that are clearly on the offense."

US plans to send more weapons to Ukraine

China has accused US National Security Agency (NSA) for launching cyber attacks on a elite Chinese university to steal sensitive data, Xinhua News Agency has reported.

In its investigation report, China's National Computer Virus Emergency Response Centre&nbsp;(CVERC) said that NSA-affiliated Tailored Access Operations (TAO) Office—an elite team of hacking group—used “41 types of cyber weapons” against China's Northwestern Polytechnical University.

Among them, one such tool, “Suctionchar" is said to have helped them hack into the university’s network by stealing account credentials and file transfer applications to hijack logins on targeted servers, the CVERC said.

The agency said that it found traces of Suctionchar in many other Chinese networks apart from Northwestern’s, accusing the NSA of launching more than 10,000 cyberattacks on China over the past several years.

It claimed that TAO has "stolen over 140 gigabytes of high-value data" in recent years and received assistance from groups in Europe and South Asia.

On Sunday, China lodged a diplomatic complaint blaming the US for endangering China’s security by targeting its critical infrastructure and institutions, and asked Washington to stop its clandestine activities.

In the past, the US justice department had referred the school as a “<a href="https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/chinese-national-pleads-guilty-illegal-exports-northwestern-polytechnical-university">Chinese military university </a>that is heavily involved in military research and works closely with the People’s Liberation Army,” claiming that it is a reasonable target for digital infiltration from an American perspective.

On Tuesday, Polk County District Judge David M Porter sentenced Lewis to five years of closely monitored probation and ordered her to pay $150,000 in compensation to Brooks' family. If she breaks the terms of her probation, she might receive a 20-year sentence.

"This court is presented with no other option," Judge Porter remarked in reference to the payment to the alleged rapist's estate.&nbsp;

The girl recalled how the 28-year-old had held her at knifepoint and had her accompany Brooks to his residence. She claimed to have stabbed Brooks in a fit of rage after he had raped her once more, taking a knife from the bedside table, according to the authorities.

A plan to establish a safe harbour statute for victims of human trafficking had passed the Iowa House earlier this year, according to Karl Schilling of the Iowa Organization for Victim Assistance, but it had stuck in the Senate due to worries from law enforcement groups that it was too broad.

Both Epshteyn and Roman were reportedly involved in a ‘fake electors effort’, where the plan was to submit slates of electors pledged to Trump living in swing states that Joe Biden had already won. These steps have been some of the “most aggressive” ones taken by the department so far amid the ongoing investigation, said the report.&nbsp;
