The gang would impersonate a senior DEA officer named Uttam Dhillon and contact potential victims.&nbsp;</p>

<p>HCS Dhaliwal, Special Commissioner of Police, Delhi Police Special Cell said, "The FBI informed us of Parth Armarkar, who is originally from Gujarat but has been living in Uganda for a long time. In Uganda, he ran call centres. US's DEA has had a senior officer, Uttam Dhillon. He (Armarkar) impersonated his identity and called the potential victims," as per media reports.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Their common approach involved informing the targets that child pornographic material had been confiscated at the US-Mexico border, claiming that their contact information was found during the investigation.&nbsp;</p>

<p>To avoid serious legal consequences, the victims were coerced into paying a penalty.</p>

<p>The gang carefully selected targets, primarily wealthy individuals unlikely to report the scam to law enforcement agencies.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Operational base</strong></h2>

<p>While the gang primarily operated from Uganda, they occasionally made calls from India. In one instance, Armarkar allegedly requested a target in India to pay the penalty with gold bars instead of money.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Regardless of the victim's location within the United States, the gang ensured someone would collect the payment.</p>

With that India turned an obstacle into an opportunity.</p>

<p>Clearly the remarkable transformation of the US-India relationship from a distant and distrustful one to a close and cooperative one and Prime Minister Modi's US visit will only bolster it. The US needs India more than India needs the US, not only because of the strategic significance of the Indo-Pacific region, but also because of the shared commitment to a free, open, and democratic world order. India, on the other hand, can benefit from the US's support and cooperation in enhancing its economic, technological, and social development.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Moreover, India is also a prominent voice for the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/pm-narendra-modi-says-global-south-wants-human-centric-globalisation-552435">global South</a>, championing the causes of justice, equity, and sustainability for the developing world. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken discussed some thorny issues with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Describing the current state of the relationship Blinken said that there were no illusions about the US-China relations, which remained difficult but consequential. Blinken reiterated that the US was not de-coupling but de-risking from China while to allay suspicions over America's Taiwan relationship- the US Secy of State said that America was committed to the one China policy. Although both nations stressed on the importance of having good ties, despite multiple talks, nothing concrete seems to have materialised.

Meanwhile, the Chinese FM has also agreed to pay a return visit to Washington upon Blinken’s invitation to “continue the discussions, and they agreed to schedule a reciprocal visit at a mutually suitable time.”</p>

<p>Miller also said that the US official “raised a number of issues of concern,” and “opportunities to explore cooperation on shared transnational issues with the (People’s Republic of China) PRC where our interests align”. Notably, Blinken’s visit was postponed after a suspected Chinese spy balloon flew over US airspace which sparked a row between the two countries.&nbsp;</p>

According to the Chinese state-run broadcaster CCTV, Qin told Blinken that relations between Washington and Beijing “are at the lowest point since the establishment of diplomatic relations” over four decades ago.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“The Taiwan issue is the core of China’s core interests, the most important issue in China-US relations and the most prominent risk,” Qin told Washington’s top diplomat, as per the Chinese state media. &nbsp;</p>
