However, Reuters has now reported that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) discovered that the company had failed to keep records of animal experiments. The FDA also said that there were some issues with quality control. Investigators found quality control lapses at Neuralink’s animal research facilities in California. However, similar inspections of facilities in Texas found no problems.

Russia accused the United States on Tuesday (May 21) of trying to deploy weapons in space, marking the latest escalation in their ongoing dispute. This accusation came a day after Washington blocked a Russian non-proliferation proposal at the United Nations.

The UN Security Council dismissed a Russian proposal aimed at addressing military activities in space, amid skepticism from other countries about Moscow's intentions following its veto of an American resolution in April concerning nuclear proliferation in outer space.

Russia accused the United States on Tuesday (May 21) of trying to deploy weapons in space, marking the latest escalation in their ongoing dispute. This accusation came a day after Washington blocked a Russian non-proliferation proposal at the United Nations.

"They have once again demonstrated that their true priorities in the area of outer space are aimed not at keeping space free from weapons of any kind, but at placing weapons in space and turning it into an arena for military confrontation," Russia's foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a statement. In recent months, the two superpowers have repeatedly accused each other of attempting to militarise space. Also watch | Russia Claims Control of Ukrainian Stronghold in Luhansk Clash over space weaponisation In February, Washington expressed concern about Russia's development of "anti-satellite capability" following reports from US media that intelligence agencies had warned allies of Russia's potential to launch a nuclear weapon into orbit. Moscow dismissed these accusations as "malicious" and "unfounded," asserting that it does not possess such systems. Since then, Russia has made similar accusations against the United States. The two countries submitted competing non-proliferation proposals at the United Nations as part of their ongoing dispute. Last month, Russia vetoed the US initiative, while the United States, Britain, and France blocked Moscow's proposal in a vote on Monday. Also read | Russia, China have their differences but Putin and Xi are not talking about them Russia claimed the US initiative focused solely on nuclear weapons and argued that Washington was not genuinely interested in a comprehensive ban on space weapons. US envoy Robert Wood criticised Russia's proposal, which called on all countries to "take urgent measures to prevent for all time the placement of weapons in outer space," labeling it as a distraction and accusing Moscow of "diplomatic gaslighting." On Tuesday, Zakharova stated that Russia "will continue to make an unwavering contribution to keeping outer space free of weapons of any kind and preventing it from becoming another sphere of tension and armed confrontation." Despite a slew of Western sanctions and strained relations amid Russia's offensive in Ukraine, space remains a rare area of cooperation between the two nations. Both countries continue to transport each other's crew members to and from the International Space Station (ISS), where their astronauts work together. (With inputs from agencies)

Law enforcement agencies located and captured a giant alligator in Florida on Thursday (May 16) that was found wandering on a route used by students on their way to school in the southern US state. In an Instagram post, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office reported that a local resident in southwest Florida had alerted them to the "large gator." The pathway is situated along Joe's Creek near 46th Avenue, according to the post, which also described the reptile as an "absolute dinosaur." "We arrived to find a 12.5 foot gator and promptly called MyFWC Florida Fish and Wildlife for their assistance in relocation," the sheriff's department said in the post. Watch the video here: View this post on Instagram A post shared by Pinellas Sheriff's Office (@pinellassheriff) × "PCSO remained in the area to keep the public from accidentally stumbling across this absolute dinosaur of an alligator until trappers contracted through FWC arrived," it added. This incident occurred just days after an "agitated" alligator attacked a farm worker, as shared by the Martin County Sheriff's Office on Facebook. "One didn't see the other, until it was too late. But fortunately for the local pepper farm worker, the bite taken out of his leg by an angry gator is not life threatening. The experience however, is a different story." "The worker was clearly focused on his farm work when an agitated gator lurking in the field along 96th Street in Palm City lunged and grabbed hold of the man. The gator grabbed the side of the workers thigh causing a significant injury with puncture wounds. The victim did break free and was able to get away," the post further said. The alligator, measuring over nine feet in length, was removed from the area. Also read | Where’s Wally? US President Biden says pushing for ‘lasting, durable peace’ in Middle East

The former United States President and presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, on Saturday (May 18) urged gun owners and thousands of members of the National Rifle Association (NRA), to vote in the upcoming presidential elections. Trump, whom the NRA has officially endorsed, took the stage at their annual meeting in the US city of Dallas, Texas.

‘They are coming for your guns’

In his more than 90-minute speech to the tens of thousands of gun enthusiasts and dealers gathered at the NRA’s annual Leadership Forum, Trump said the Second Amendment “is very much on the ballot” in November.

He also went on to urge people to vote in the upcoming elections. “We’ve got to get gun owners to vote,” said the former president. He added, “I think you’re a rebellious bunch. But let’s be rebellious and vote this time.”

Trump also alleged that if his rival and incumbent US President Joe Biden “gets four more years they are coming for your guns, 100% certain. Crooked Joe has a 40-year-record of trying to rip firearms out of the hands of law-abiding citizens.”

The Republican presidential nominee also repeated his pledge to fire the director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, or ATF, on Day One if he wins the presidency again.

Trump has accused the government agency, which enforces gun laws in the country, of being heavy-handed with firearm owners and revoking licenses on frivolous grounds.

The Republican party is known for opposing stricter gun laws in the US despite record numbers of mass shootings, citing the right to bear arms which the Second Amendment of the US Constitution grants.

Meanwhile, a large number of mass shootings in the US over the years have prompted many Democrats to impose more controls on guns, including the Biden administration.

The former United States President and presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, on Saturday (May 18) urged gun owners and thousands of members of the National Rifle Association (NRA), to vote in the upcoming presidential elections.

‘They are coming for your guns’ In his more than 90-minute speech to the tens of thousands of gun enthusiasts and dealers gathered at the NRA’s annual Leadership Forum, Trump said the Second Amendment “is very much on the ballot” in November. He also went on to urge people to vote in the upcoming elections. “We’ve got to get gun owners to vote,” said the former president. He added, “I think you’re a rebellious bunch. But let’s be rebellious and vote this time.” Trump also alleged that if his rival and incumbent US President Joe Biden “gets four more years they are coming for your guns, 100% certain. Crooked Joe has a 40-year-record of trying to rip firearms out of the hands of law-abiding citizens.” Also Read | It was all set for Trump-Biden presidential debates, now ex-president puts up a ‘test’ demand The Republican presidential nominee also repeated his pledge to fire the director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, or ATF, on Day One if he wins the presidency again. In a bid to combat gun violence, Biden introduced a new rule which aims to close a loophole that has reportedly allowed tens of thousands of guns to be sold every year by unlicensed dealers who do not perform background checks. “In my second term, we will roll back every Biden attack on the Second Amendment.
