Earlier, a report claimed that dozens of Indians were promised support jobs inside the Russian territory but were enlisted in the Russian military by fraudulent travel agents. They reportedly received misleading translations of the documents and underwent military training against their understanding.&nbsp;

A video was sent by Sufiyan to his family in which he was seen in army fatigue and claimed that they had been a victim of recruitment fraud.&nbsp;

"They are not contacting their families for 25 days," the Indian parliamentarian Owaisi wrote in a letter addressed to the External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar.&nbsp;

Their families are very much worried about them and are intending they&nbsp;return them to India, as they are the only bread earners of their families, Owaisi added.&nbsp;

Ukraine on Friday (Feb 23) said they have downed a Russian A-50 military spy plane, whihc&nbsp;is the second such claim made by Kyiv&nbsp;in less than a&nbsp;month. 
 
According to Ukrainian military sources, the plane was destroyed between the Russian cities of Rostov-on-Don and Krasnodar and nearly 200km from the front line. 
 
The fragments of the plane were reportedly found by the emergency services in Kanevskoy district and the officials also doused a raging fire.

Speaking about the incident, head of Ukraine's Air Force Mykola Oleshchuk thanked his service and military intelligence for taking measures to bring down the suspected 'spy' plane, which they claimed was a long-range radar detection aircraft and emphasised how the incident coincided with a key Russian military holiday. 
 
"Congratulations to the occupiers on the Defender of the Fatherland Day," Oleshchuk said on Telegram.

In the videos shared on the social media platforms, it appeared that the plane was shot down from the air and huge flames as well as dark smoke rose after the crash. 
 
However, one Russian military-aligned Telegram channel claimed that the plane may have come down because of friendly fire. "At the moment it is unknown who shot it down,” Fighterbomber wrote on Telegram. 
 
On January 14, Ukraine claimed that it had shot down an A-50. The UK's Ministry of Defence, in a previous media briefing, said that Russia has at least six operational A-50s in service.

"I am about to fly to Paris for a summit that Emmanuel Macron called and which follows up the initiative that I presented at the European Council at the beginning of February," Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala said on X before travelling to France.

"The goal is to collect enough money for ammunition that Ukraine needs."

Ammunition supplies have become a critical issue for Kyiv. The European Union, though, is falling short of its target of sending Ukraine a million rounds of artillery shells by March.

"We must be able to deliver more shells. The principle is that shells will be purchased where they are available," said the adviser. "There is no dogmatic (French) position."

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, British foreign minister David Cameron, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, as well as leaders from Scandinavian and Baltic countries, are among those attending.

The United States, which has been under much scrutiny as its latest military aid package for Ukraine has stalled in Congress, will be represented by Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Jim O'Brien.

French officials said the security conference in Munich earlier this month, which coincided with the death of Putin's most formidable domestic opponent, Alexei Navalny, was all about "doom and gloom", and that Macron, who is due in Kyiv in March, was keen to dispel that.

Trudeau has offered $320 million to Ukraine in military aid as well as $2.4 billion in loans, to be given through the International Monetary Fund.

Months after Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the multi-billion dollar Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines which transport gas under the Baltic Sea were ruptured by a series of blasts that occurred in the Swedish and Danish economic zones.&nbsp;

The investigation by the Danish police concluded that the blasts were “intentional” but said there is no “necessary basis” for pursuing a criminal case in Denmark.&nbsp;

“Based on the investigation, the authorities can conclude that the sabotage of the pipelines was intentional,” said the Copenhagen police, in a statement. It added, “At the same time, it is also assessed that there is not the necessary basis for pursuing a criminal case in Denmark.”

The investigation, carried out by Denmark’s intelligence service PET and the Copenhagen police, had been “complicated and extensive”, said the statement. However, it added that it was not in a position to “provide further comments” in the case.

In September 2022, leaks were discovered in three of the four gas lines near the Danish island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea. The seismic institutes had recorded two large underwater explosions just before the leaks which released vast amounts of methane into the water and air.

<h2>‘Close to absurd’: Russia reacts</h2>

The decision by the police in Copenhagen immediately drew criticism from Russia. “The situation is close to absurd. On the one hand, they recognise that a deliberate sabotage took place, but on the other hand they are not moving forward,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists.

Russia has blamed the United States, the United Kingdom, and Ukraine for the blasts, which cut off Russian gas supply to its lucrative European market. However, the countries have denied responsibility.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, some Western officials have said Russian naval vessels were in the area at the time of the blasts.&nbsp;

<h2>Sweden closes investigation; Germany to continue</h2>

Swedish prosecutors, on Wednesday (Feb 7) said that they have dropped their investigation into the case.&nbsp;

“The conclusion of the investigation is that Swedish jurisdiction does not apply and that the investigation therefore should be closed,” the Swedish Prosecution Authority said in a statement.

The Danish police had previously confirmed that the pipelines were hit by powerful explosions and Swedish investigators confirmed traces of explosives on the site showing that sabotage had taken place.

Swedish prosecutors concluded that nothing had emerged to indicate that Sweden or Swedish citizens were involved in the attack which took place “in international waters” and therefore their “jurisdiction does not apply.”&nbsp;

Meanwhile, the German government is still “very interested” in getting to the bottom of the reported sabotage, a spokesperson said in Berlin on Monday and will continue to investigate the incident.
