Ukraine said it had shot down two Russian cruise missiles but two more hit the Odessa port putting the grain deal with Russia at risk. Ukraine's foreign ministry shot back at Russia's strike calling it a "spit in the face" even as President Volodymyr Zelenksy blamed Russia for not keeping its promises.

Odessa is one of the key ports for grain exports which has been designated in the grain deal between Ukraine and Russia although reports claimed food stocks weren't hit.

UN Secretary-General António&nbsp;Guterres, who was present during the grain deal, condemned the attack as EU's foreign policy chief Josep Borrell blamed Russia for the attack calling it "reprehensible".

However, Turkey's defence minister Hulusi Akar said Russian authorities had said they were not responsible for the attack. There has been no official reaction from Russia on the incident. President Zelensky had earlier put the responsibility on the United Nations to enforce the grain deal.&nbsp;

Large quantities of wheat and other grain have remained trapped in Ukrainian ports for months ever since President Vladimir Putin declared "special military operation" against Ukraine in February.

President Zelensky had said 20 million tonnes of last year's produce&nbsp;and this year's harvest worth $10 billion was ready to be exported as Russia's defence minister Sergei Shoigu had said just hours after the deal was signed that the movement of grain could start within a few days.

The latest Russian strikes come as President Putin's forces continue to pound the eastern Donetsk region. Reports claimed Russia targeted railway infrastructure and a military airfield in Kirovograd on Saturday with missiles in which at least three people were killed and several wounded.

Biden said "thousands of tons of grain" has been "locked up" in Black Sea ports&nbsp;as he added that it cannot be transported because "they get blown out of the water".

The Polish prime minister said it would be a "complete failure and disaster" for the European Union and a "loss of our values and of NATO" if Ukraine lost the war against Russia.

We will build temporary silos on Ukraine border to transport grain: Biden

Russian President Vladimir Putin blamed the West for the ongoing food and energy shortages and assured that his country would “guarantee” safe passage of exports from Ukraine-held ports if it is "cleared" of mines by Ukraine.

"There is no problem to export grain from Ukraine," he said in a televised interview, saying it could be done via Ukrainian ports, via others under Russian control, or even via central Europe, reports AFP.

The Russian president assured that his armed forces would not “launch any attacks [on Ukraine] from the sea” while it is being removed from mines.

The Russian leader mentioned the possibility of exporting via the Ukrainian ports of Mariupol and Berdyansk on the Sea of Azov, which gives access to the Black Sea. Both are under Russian control.

He also said ports under Kyiv's control, in particular Odessa, could be used.

Meanwhile, German agriculture minister Cem Ozdemir while commenting on India's decision to ban wheat export, said: "If everyone starts to impose export restrictions or to close markets, that would worsen the crisis."

"We call on India to assume its responsibility as a G20 member," Ozdemir added.

India had exported 7 million tonnes of wheat in the fiscal year ending March which was over 250 per cent from the previous year. Last month, the country exported &nbsp;1.4 million tonnes of wheat.
