A report by Russian news agency TASS citing emergency services said that at least 20 people have been injured. Earlier, the Russian health minister had said 17 were injured, reported AFP.&nbsp;

The Russian defence ministry said that the Ukrainian missile hit a “residential district” in Belgorod after it was intercepted by air defences. The attack, according to the ministry, took place at 08:40 GMT and involved at least 12 missiles.

Both Moscow and Kyiv have denied that they target civilians, but the United Nations agency OHCHR, earlier this year, reported a total of 30,457 civilian casualties since the beginning of the&nbsp;war.&nbsp;

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, as per Reuters, said that the strike was a targeted attack on civilians which showed the criminality of both Ukraine and its allies in Europe and the United States.&nbsp;

<h2>Russia claims to have captured four more villages</h2>

On Sunday, Russia claimed that it captured four more villages – Hatyshche, Krasne, Morokhovets, Oliinykove – in the Kharkiv region in Ukraine.

Meanwhile,&nbsp;Kharkiv Governor Oleg Synegubov took to social media and said the entire&nbsp; northern border of the Ukrainian&nbsp;region is under Russian fire "almost around the clock".&nbsp;

This comes a day after the Russian defence ministry said that its troops “liberated” five villages – Borisivka, Ogirtseve, Pletenivka, Pylna and Strilecha – in the Kharkiv region near the border with Russia “as a result of offensive actions”.

Moscow also claimed that the village of Keramik in the Donetsk region was also now under Russian control.

Russia launched an armoured incursion early on Friday (May 10), an attack on a new front which may lead to a broader push into the Kharkiv region.&nbsp;

<h2>Is Russia accidentally bombing its own cities?</h2>

In an update on the ongoing war, on Saturday (May 11), the British Ministry of Defence (MoD) highlighted what it called Russia’s “continued inability to successfully employ their munitions on intended targets.”

It added, “Such errors have destructive and lethal consequences for the Russian population.” Between March and April, Russia accidentally dropped around 20 munitions in Belgorod alone.&nbsp;

According to the report, a Russian fighter jet accidentally dropped a FAB-500 bomb on the border city. At least five people were left injured and around 30 houses were damaged as a result.&nbsp;

“This is not an isolated incident. On February 18, a FAB-250 was reportedly released on Soloti in the Belgorod area which led to the evacuation of 150 residents,” said the MoD.&nbsp;

A similar incident took place in January after what the Russian defence ministry had described at the time as an “abnormal discharge of aircraft ammunition” over the village of Petropavlovka in the southern region of Voronezh. The incident left four people injured and damaged some nine houses.&nbsp;

Moscow alleges US, UK aided Ukraine missile strike on Crimea naval headquarters

Ukraine was hit by a wave of missiles Thursday morning, with Russia unleashing more than 100 missiles, according to a Ukrainian presidential adviser. Blasts were heard in the cities of Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa, Lviv and Zhytomyr. At least three people are reported injured in the capital, including a 14-year-old girl.

Presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak informed that more than 120 missiles had been launched in the latest attack.&nbsp;

The Ukrainian Air Force said the attacks were coming from&nbsp;"various directions with air and sea-based cruise missiles". A number of Kamikaze drones had also been used, it said.

"December 29. Massive missiles attack... The enemy is attacking Ukraine from various directions with air and sea-based cruise missiles from strategic aircraft and ships," Ukraine's air force said on social media.

Power cuts were announced in the Odesa and Dnipropetrovsk regions to minimise potential damage to the energy infrastructure.

Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said "several explosions" had been reported. Two homes were damaged by debris from an intercepted missiles in Kyiv, according to the city military administration.&nbsp;

In the southern region of Mykolaiv, Governor Vitaly Kim wrote that five missiles had been intercepted.

Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovy said several explosions had been reported. He also said that 90 per cent of the city was without power after the attacks.

"Ninety percent of the city is without electricity," Andriy Sadoviy said on social media, also warning of potential water cuts. "We are waiting for more information from energy experts. Trams and trolleybuses are not running in the city."

The attack comes amidst Moscow's rejection of a Ukrainian peace plan. Dismissing the plan, Russia wants Kyiv to accept Russia's annexation of four regions.

Zelensky, in a video address, urged Ukrainians to hug loved ones, tell friends they appreciate them, support colleagues, thank their parents and rejoice with their children more often.

"We have not lost our humanity, although we have endured terrible months," he said. "And we will not lose it, although there is a difficult year ahead."

Russia has attacked Ukraine with over 120 missiles from air and sea, says Kyiv

Russian President Vladimir Putin revealed that the missile strikes across Ukrainian infrastructure was in response to the drone attack on its Black Sea fleet in Crimea over the weekend.

Addressing a news conference in Sochi on Monday, Putin said more action would follow. "That's not all we could have done," he told a televised news conference, according to Reuters news agency.

Russia launched a barrage of missiles towards Ukraine, targeting its critical infrastructure in Kyiv, Kharkiv and other cities on Monday.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said there were 55 cruise missiles, most of which were shot down by Ukrainian forces.

After the attacks, more than 80 per cent of the residents in Kyiv and other regions were left without power and water supplies "due to the damage to a power facility".

Northeastern Kharkiv’s Governor Oleh Synehubov said on Telegram that about 140,000 residents were without power after the attacks, including about 50,000 residents of Kharkiv city, the second largest city in Ukraine.

‘Not suspending grain deal’

Putin clarified Russia has not ended participation in the export of Ukrainian grain deal through Black Sea ports, rather they are suspending it.

"We are not saying that we are ceasing our participation in this operation. No, we are saying that we are suspending it," Putin told the news conference.

He claimed Ukrainian forces were sending their drones in the same route that grain ships were using.

Moscow-installed authorities in Ukraine's southern Kherson region have said that four people died from Ukrainian shelling on the Antonivskiy bridge over the Dnipro river used for evacuations. "Four people were killed," pro-Moscow official Kirill Stremousov said on Telegram.&nbsp;

The Russian-backed administration of Kherson said Kyiv fired "12 HIMARS rockets at a civilian crossing near the Antonivsky bridge."

"The city of Kherson, like a fortress, is preparing for its defence."

A Ukrainian military spokeswoman Nataliya Gumenyuk denied Kyiv's forces had killed civilians.

"We do not hit critical infrastructure. We do not hit peaceful settlements or the local population," Gumenyuk said on Friday.&nbsp;

A few days back, pro-Russia forces urged civilians to evacuate in view of an Ukrainian onslaught. Kyiv has meanwhile branded the evacuations as "deportations" of Ukrainian citizens.&nbsp;

Russian state television aired footage of a damaged car and traffic waiting to cross the river.&nbsp;

Stremousov informed Thursday that 15,000 people had crossed the river. He insisted that Russia will not give up Kherson, the first major Ukrainian city to fall to Russian forces early in their offensive in March. &nbsp;

"Kherson will hold on until the last (man), believe me nobody is intending to give up the city."

Authorities in the region have started evacuating people from the area that Moscow "annexed" a few weeks back. Reportedly, 60,000 people will be evacuated in six days.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, a&nbsp;series of blasts rocked the Ukrainian cities of Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia on Friday, authorities said. The missiles hit an industrial facility in Kharkiv on Friday, its mayor, Ihor Terekhov, said. The rescuers are assessing the damage and right now it is not known if there were any casualties.

Russian forces have stepped up missile strikes on Ukraine in the past few weeks, targeting electric power facilities.

Separately, Kharkiv regional governor Oleh Sinegubov said five people had been wounded.

The information on the Zaporizhzhia blasts was provided by regional governor Oleksandr Starukh and more details are still awaited.

Moscow-installed authorities in Ukraine's southern Kherson region have said that four people died from Ukrainian shelling on the Antonivskiy bridge over the Dnipro river used for evacuations. "Four people were killed," pro-Moscow official Kirill Stremousov said on Telegram. The Russian-backed administration of Kherson said Kyiv fired "12 HIMARS rockets at a civilian crossing near the Antonivsky bridge." "The city of Kherson, like a fortress, is preparing for its defence." A Ukrainian military spokeswoman Nataliya Gumenyuk denied Kyiv's forces had killed civilians. "We do not hit critical infrastructure. We do not hit peaceful settlements or the local population," Gumenyuk said on Friday. Kyiv has meanwhile branded the evacuations as "deportations" of Ukrainian citizens. Russian state television aired footage of a damaged car and traffic waiting to cross the river. Stremousov informed Thursday that 15,000 people had crossed the river. He insisted that Russia will not give up Kherson, the first major Ukrainian city to fall to Russian forces early in their offensive in March. "Kherson will hold on until the last (man), believe me nobody is intending to give up the city." Authorities in the region have started evacuating people from the area that Moscow "annexed" a few weeks back. Reportedly, 60,000 people will be evacuated in six days. Meanwhile, a series of blasts rocked the Ukrainian cities of Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia on Friday, authorities said. The missiles hit an industrial facility in Kharkiv on Friday, its mayor, Ihor Terekhov, said. The rescuers are assessing the damage and right now it is not known if there were any casualties. Russian forces have stepped up missile strikes on Ukraine in the past few weeks, targeting electric power facilities. Separately, Kharkiv regional governor Oleh Sinegubov said five people had been wounded.
