Twitter has suspended the accounts of prominent journalists without a proper explanation. EU has threatened Musk with sanctions over the bans. As per Musk's new "doxxing policy," those who share anyone's live location will be banned from Twitter.

Gravitas: Musk's 'hypocrisy' on free speech

Elon Musk's team is hunting for new investors for Twitter, reported news platform Semafor on Friday (December 16).
There was no immediate comment from Twitter or Musk.

The social media platform has seen advertisers flee as worries mount about Musk's approach to policing tweets. This has hit Twitter's revenues and its ability to pay interest on the $13 billion debt that Musk took on to buy the company.

Elon Musk's team fishes for new investors into Twitter as advertisers flee: Report

The sixth part of “Twitter Files”, which was released by Independent journalist Matt Taibbi on Friday, revealed how Twitter was treated as a “subsidiary” by the FBI along with different law enforcement organisations, as various accounts were flagged by the government body for harmful “misinformation” since January 2020.

Taibbi said that the FBI and Twitter's relationship had a “master-canine quality” and that the bureau and the tech giant remained in “constant and pervasive” contact.

“Between January 2020 and November 2022, there were over 150 emails between the FBI and former Twitter Trust and Safety chief Yoel Roth,” Taibbi tweeted, pointing to the executives who worked towards suppressing the report prepared by The Post on the extensive overseas business of US President Joe Biden's son Hunter Biden.

Holding the tech giant's reins

The journalist also revealed that Twitter received a “surprisingly high number” of missives from the FBI requesting “Twitter to take action on election misinformation,” which also included some jokes posted by accounts which had less number of followers.

Recently on November 22, an email was sent to Twitter from the FBI’s San Francisco office in which four accounts were flagged that “may potentially constitute violations of Twitter’s Terms of Service”.

European Union warns Elon Musk after Twitter suspends accounts of over half-a-dozen journalists

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk seems to have his hands full with his takeover of Twitter. With managing the social media platform proving to be quite a task, voices of concern have started emerging about Musk's other companies, Tesla in particular. Financial analysts appear to increasingly agree that Twitter has made Musk take his attention off his other ventures.

"I think there's a real feeling that Elon Musk has taken his eye off the Tesla ball really since the purchase of Twitter. It seems he's dedicated an awful lot of his time to trying to turn around Twitter and make it the company he wants it to be. And as a result, there is a feeling that he's neglecting Tesla, which, of course, has been affected by headwinds of its own, not least the Chinese slowdown...," said Hargreaves Lansdown, Senior Investment and Markets Analyst, Susannah Streeter.

He was quoted by Reuters.

When Musk was in the middle of the protracted process to acquire Twitter, investors in his other companies had expressed concerns that the billionaire was spreading himself too thin by taking over the platform. The days after his takeover have been rocky for the company as his sacked nearly half of its staff. This threatened to destabilise the function of Twitter.

It was revealed on Wednesday (December 14) that Musk sold USD 3.6 billion worth of stocks in Tesla.

The sale is the second big chunk of stock he has cashed out since his $44 billion purchase of Twitter in October, despite his repeated assurance in April that he was done selling Tesla shares.

Have you ever been the lucky commoner contacted by a Nigerian prince? You know, the email from royalty asking the common man for a small help. I'm sure we all have gotten that email scam message. Now, the internet is asking if the infamous Nigerian princes are actually Norwegian or from "Norgeria". Confused? Well, a recent error by Elon Musk's Twitter has given rise to some pretty hilarious tweets. Recently, the Scandinavian country and some of its top officials found themselves listed as Nigerian government organisations and/or officials. Watch | Twitter Files 4.0 reveal how executives changed policies to permanently ban Trump For several hours on Tuesday Norwegian senior-most politicians and institutions were presented as being from the African country. Certified accounts of Norway's Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store, Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt and her ministry were among those displaying this error. In a cheeky post to Twitter, the nation's foreign ministry wrote "Dear @TwitterSupport, as much as we enjoy our excellent bilateral relations and close alphabetical vicinity with Nigeria, we would much appreciate if you could label us as Norway," along with a winking emoji.
As Elon Musk moves to make Twitter profitable, the Tesla CEO is reportedly implementing several new cost-cutting measures. A New York Times report said the Twitter boss has instructed employees to not pay vendors or even pay the rent for any of its offices including its headquarters in San Francisco.

This comes as the company faces potential lawsuits and has also recently fired nearly half of its workforce. The report citing a New Hampshire lawsuit also claims that Musk has not paid the rent for the headquarters or its several global offices in weeks and is attempting to negotiate the terms of its lease agreements.
Meanwhile, the US-based company is also considering not paying severance to the thousands of employees who were fired and promised they would get three months' pay and one month of severance. Twitter has stopped paying office rent, considers not paying severance to fired employees: Report

Elon Musk the billionaire entrepreneur is constantly in news these days, especially after his purchase of social media giant Twitter. Musk has made the headline again as he has lost the tag of world's richest person. Though he did not have a super-long run at the top like former wealthiest person in the world Bill Gates, the Tesla chief has been almost like a fixture as the top of list lately.

Not anymore, if Bloomberg Billionaires Index is to be believed.

Taking over Twitter has drained Musk's coffers as he shelled out USD 44 billion for the purchase. Though even after the purchase, Musk managed to hold on to the 'richest' tag for a good while, there are signs that his position may no longer be as solid as before.

From a peak value of USD 340 billion, Musk's net worth is now USD 168.5 billion.

This has cleared way for another person to claim the spot of wealthiest person in the world.

Frenchman Bernard Arnault has grabbed the spot now with net worth of USD 172.9 billion.

Arnault's mega-wealth is mainly derived from his 48 per cent stake in fashion giant LVMH.

Investors backing Elon Musk have been voicing concern ever since the protracted process of taking over Twitter began. As per media reports, the investors were worried that the former richest person in the world was spreading himself too thin. Musk already heads prominent companies like Tesla, SpaceX and more.

Elon Musk met with 'crowd of boos' at Dave Chapelle show on eve of Twitter blue relaunch. Watch!

Elon Musk is known for being outspoken and the eccentric billionaire has done it again. In his latest tweets, he has taken a jab at Anthony Fauci, the United States' outgoing top infectious disease official and key advisor of the US response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

'My pronouns are Prosecute/Fauci': Elon Musk takes a dig at US' top infectious disease expert

Elon Musk laid off employees earlier in one of the measures he took to cut costs after $44 billion Twitter buyout. The Twitter chief had also instructed teams to find over $1 billion in yearly infrastructure cost savings by reducing cloud services and extra server space, as per Reuters.

And guess what? Now Elon Musk is selling Twitter HQ items! But is it true that it is to support the company financially by garnering extra cash? According to the latest reports, Musk is prepared to auction off items from Twitter's headquarters. On January 17, Twitter CEO Elon Musk will hold an auction for items and souvenirs from the company's headquarters in San Francisco.

The items that will be up for sale by Heritage Global Partners are listed on the website BidSpotter. Bidding starts on January 17, 2023, at 7 a.m. Pacific Time and concludes on January 18, at 10 a.m. The firm will be floating a number of items during the bidding process, such as a sizable statue of the Twitter bird, a projector, iMac displays, espresso machines, seats, and kitchenware, with beginning bids ranging from 25 to 50 dollars.

Earlier, Musk started converting some of the Twitter headquarters' rooms into beds and most recently instructed staff to begin working solely out of Twitter's San Francisco office. Among the items up for sale are a 3-foot monument of the Twitter Bird, a 6-foot "@" sign with artificial plants that can be changed out for real plants, and bicycles that can charge your phone are just a few of the unusual items on display. Numerous display screens, iMac monitors, and grey swivel office chairs are also included in the auction's offerings, along with loads of industrial kitchen equipment including refrigerators and pizza ovens.

Elon Musk is accused of taking the controversial cost-cutting strategy, which included firing almost half of the company's personnel and prompting the workers to file a lawsuit against him. The layoffs, according to the workers, violated many labour laws. Anyone who believes the sale is a part of safeguarding finances is a "moron," according to Nick Dove, head of Heritage Global Partners, the organisation coordinating the bidding told CNN.

"They've sold for 44 billion, and we're selling a couple of chairs and desks and computers," Dove told Fortune. "So if anyone genuinely thinks that the revenue from selling a couple computers and chairs will pay for the mountain there, then they're a moron."
