Our first look teaser for the upcoming fifth season of 'The Handmaid's Tale' is here. Hulu's multiple Emmy-winning dystopian series is created by Bruce Miller and is based on Margaret Wood's celebrated novel of the same name. The story is set in near-future New England. Most of the United States has become a white supremacist and patriarchal state called the Republic of Gilead after the government was overthrown by a religious cult called Sons of Jacob. The main protagonist Offred and later June (Elisabeth Moss) is one of the 'handmaids', who are women whose only purpose is to produce children for the ruling class.

The new season's teaser is a clip clocking just over a minute and shows that the struggle for June is still not over. In the finale of season 4, June and the other handmaids beat Commander Fred Waterford (Joseph Fiennes) to death and sent his severed finger and wedding ring to his wife Serena (Yvonne Strahovski).

In Season 5, June will have to face the consequences of her actions. The teaser promises a bloody, action-packed season. June proclaims in a voice-over that she is not done with Gilead yet. She looks menacingly at something off-camera. We cannot wait for Season 5.

The official synopsis of Season 5 reads, "In Season 5, June faces consequences for killing Commander Waterford while struggling to redefine her identity and purpose. The widowed Serena attempts to raise her profile in Toronto as Gilead’s influence creeps into Canada. Commander Lawrence works with Aunt Lydia as he tries to reform Gilead and rise in power. June, Luke, and Moira fight Gilead from a distance as they continue their mission to save and reunite with Hannah."

'The Handmaid's Tale' is nearing its end and recently the show season 4 aired and people responded well to the new season. Earlier, there were reports that makers are eying for season 5 ending.&nbsp; 
 
Now, creator Bruce Miller is responding to speculation and isn’t sure whether the upcoming fifth season of the hit Hulu drama will be it's last or not.&nbsp; 
“I’m never looking to end it,” he said in an interview for Deadline’s Contenders TV virtual event, which will be held Aug. 14-15. 
 
“I work with a group of very undifficult people; we have a lovely group of writers, a spectacular group of actors and visiting directors and our crew. What they did this year was amazing. They made this entire show during Covid. We shot the entire thing for two weeks. We wrote every script so that we could change the story so that we could do it with different actors but they made it themselves. I was here in Los Angeles and Liz was up there with executive producer Elisabeth Moss with all that experience.” 
 
Talking about how the pandemic affected him and the show, he said, “The team made an incredible TV show. So I’m not so quick to say, ‘oh, you know, let’s just, walk away.’ I don’t know how you felt about the pandemic, but I certainly learned the things of my life that are pretty rare and working with these people is one of them. So, honestly, yes, I know what the end is and I’m not going to overstay my welcome but I’m also not going to rush off if I don’t have to because as long as I am writing for Elisabeth Moss, you know, it really doesn’t get much better.”

As ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ season 4 teaser released recently, the team behind Hulu drama’s upcoming return discuss the themes dealt with in season 4. The show premiered at a time when everyone thought it resonated with reality under Donald Trump administration in the US.&nbsp;

Now in the post-Trump era, series creator and showrunner Bruce Miller told The Hollywood Reporter, "A lot of this season is about waiting for and expecting things to snap back to normal and [asking], 'why aren't they snapping back to normal? That feeling of, 'when is the world going to settle down after things have changed?' is something we cover in small and large ways."

He continued, "As much as we were addressing the things that came up during the Trump era, we're now addressing the things that come up in the post-Trump era. But that's because the [executive producers and writers] are living in that era. We're not trying to rip stuff from the headlines and put them in television. We are, in fact, just trying to follow our characters through what is a very historical time in Gilead. And, unfortunately, we're going through a historical time [in America] as well."

The fourth season went into production in February of 2020 before shutting down in March amid the ongoing pandemic. When the team returned to set, Miller said many realities about producing the show had to be altered, including reducing the number of people in scenes and locking in locations. "The biggest change was that it was difficult to get our cast into Canada to shoot. So we had to keep people out of episodes because of scheduling,” he said.&nbsp;
