Almost one month since emerging onto the Test scene as among the youngest present across both camps, Konstas admitted watching videos of it, reflecting how he felt about playing in front of a packed house at the &lsquo;G&rsquo;.&nbsp;
&ldquo;I couldn&rsquo;t believe (it),&rdquo; Konstas said in a video chat shared by cricket.com.au on their social media handle.
&ldquo;The first hour of the Boxing Day Test and (the way) I went about it. I watched it quite a few times &ndash; the videos and the crowd&rsquo;s reaction.&nbsp;
&ldquo;Obviously, I felt at times (that) the emotions did get to me, which was a great learning. Hopefully, if I do play with the bigger crowds, I can control that,&rdquo; he said.

Though he was tipped for bigger things in Australian cricket even before his Test debut, considering his pedigree for success, Konstas did justice to his reputation. Replacing Nathan McSweeney at the top, Konstas opened with Usman Khawaja and, in no time, took the attack to Bumrah &ndash; India&rsquo;s best bowler on the tour.
Before he smoked him for 18 runs in one over (11th) &ndash; the most that Bumrah conceded in his Test career thus far, Konstas made headlines for hitting Bumrah for a six and four off two ramp shots, breaking the internet. His sweep to Bumrah for a boundary came in the same over, adding up to 14.&nbsp;
A few overs later, he smashed the ace quick for another six down the ground, hitting two off his bowling on his Test debut.
&ldquo;Probably my ramp shots (to be fair),&rdquo; Sam replied when asked what clips did he watch the most. &ldquo;Watched that a few times; me trying to smack him (Jasprit Bumrah) in the first innings.&rdquo;

Though Kohli faced a wrath for the same with the ICC punishing him, Konstas said such things happen in cricket, and a bit of theatre is good for the game.

BGT – ‘I was having a heart attack,’ Smith on Konstas’ unfazed approach against Bumrah

Seamer Mukesh Kumar, who made his Test debut against West Indies during the second Test in Trinidad, hasn’t felt out of place since, thanks to the seniors, especially former captain Virat Kohli, who made him feel surreal on the field. Kohli, who also made his Test debut against West Indies in 2012, knows what it means to wear whites and represent India in this format.

Speaking to fellow fast bowler Mohammed Siraj, Mukesh revealed how just one hug from Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma following his maiden Test wicket made him feel overwhelmed. Mukesh, who had to fight hard for a place in the Indian side, picked up two wickets in the first innings, including Kirk McKenzie.&nbsp;

The right-hand fast bowler had to toil hard on the lifeless Trinidad pitch as it wasn’t easy to pick wickets for any bowler.

Mukesh revealed he felt surreal after watching Kohli running towards him and celebrating like it was his wicket. He added, having watched the veteran batter on TV throughout the past decade and seeing him running towards you was great in itself.

"When I got the wicket, Virat bhaiya ran up and hugged me. I was in a different world. The man I have watched all these years on TV and looked up to is hugging you. It felt great," Mukesh told Mohammed Siraj in an interaction for BCCI.TV.

"When you (Siraj) and JD (Unadkat) bhai were bowling, Rohit bhai said 'It's not a pitch where you can get wickets instantly. You need to work hard.' I had to set up the batter with consistent bowling," Mukesh added.

Mukesh, who represented Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2023, was always in line for an India debut, but the seamer revealed he was shocked to know that he got included in the XI for the second Test and that he zoned out afterwards.

The 30-year-old said he attended the team meeting not knowing his name will be&nbsp;announced in the XI for the second Test.

"When I came to know that I will be playing, I was shocked and actually completely zoned out. Whether I play or not, I am always prepared, so I went to attend the team meeting, keeping in mind that I need to follow my process. But there was some gut feel that I might play,” Mukesh added.

On Thursday (July 13), Yashasvi Jaiswal created history as he became only the 17th Indian to score a century on his Test debut. With India resuming Day 2 of the first Test versus a hapless West Indies in Dominica at 80 for no loss in response to the Windies' paltry 150, Jaiswal continued his merry run and achieved the rare feat in style during a mammoth opening stand with captain Rohit Sharma.&nbsp;

Jaiswal went to stumps on the opening day at 40 not out and gave a glimpse of what was in store. He began with a lot of confidence on Day One and continued to display his immense talent throughout. Jaiswal's knock showcased his strong mental strength as well as the ability to stitch a long and patient innings.

By reaching the three-figure mark on his first Test, Jaiswal has now become only the 17th Indian, and 113th overall, to kick off his red-ball career with a ton. Among&nbsp;Indians, the list includes several big names such as Lala Amarnath, GR Viswanath, Mohammad Azharuddin, Sourav Ganguly, Suresh Raina, Virender Sehwag, etc.

The last Indian to slam a hundred on Test debut was Shreyas Iyer, who achieved the feat during India's home Tests versus New Zealand in the 2021-23 WTC cycle.

Jaiswal has already stitched a 200-run plus opening stand along with skipper Rohit, who is also nearing a ton. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan made their Test debuts on Day 1 of India's first Test versus West Indies in Dominica on Wednesday (July 12). While Kishan accounted for two dismissals behind the stumps, Jaiswal made a promising start with the bat, being unbeaten on 40 when India went to stumps at 80 for no loss in response to West Indies' paltry 150.

Jaiswal started his innings with a lot of confidence and looked in good touch as he went to stumps remaining unbeaten along with captain Rohit Sharma (30 not out). After his Test debut, former Australia cricketer&nbsp;Tom Moody&nbsp;heaped praise on him and made a bold claim on his red-ball career.

"If the story of Yashasvi Jaiswal hasn’t been compelling enough, his test journey has launched. There's no doubt he'll leave a significant footprint in this format," Moody wrote on Twitter.

Jaiswal has been in superb form of late. In IPL 2023, he was a regular for the Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals (RR) and ended the season with 625 runs -- fifth-most -- at an average of 48.08, including a best of 124 (one hundred, five fifties). Over the years, he has improved a lot while grinding it out&nbsp;in the domestic circuit. After playing 15 first-class games, the swashbuckling left-hander averages a solid 80.21 with 1,845 runs under his name.

Going to stumps on Day 1 at 40 not out, Jaiswal will be desperate to cross the 50-run mark and go for a daddy hundred against the Windies bowling line-up. He will aim for a big score to open his account in Test cricket and take India to a winning position in the two-match Test series opener.

Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, who has made a name for himself in the cricket world with his swashbuckling batting, on Thursday recalled the time when he made his Test debut for India, exactly 29 years ago.

At the age of 16, the Master Blaster had made his debut in red-ball cricket on November 15 1989, against arch-rivals Pakistan in Karachi,&nbsp;

Taking a trip down the memory lane, the former Indian batsman posted a photo on his Twitter handle, writing, "This day, every year, brings back so many memories of the day I 1st represented India."&nbsp;

"It was an honour to play for the country and be able to represent India for 24 years.”&nbsp;

In the match, which ended in a draw, Tendulkar could only score 15 runs in the first innings, after he was bowled by Pakistan pacer Waqar Younis, who also made his Test debut in the same match, at the age of 17.
