The trend is being criticised for its absurdity in both China and Japan and has been called "ridiculous" because of its resemblance to snot and sperm.

As reported by the Japanese show Ninosan, the style is called “3D teardrop make-up” and has recently become very popular among secondary school girls in Japan.

The make-up involves using hot melt&nbsp;glue to create shapes of teardrops which stick to the face and give the appearance of tears rolling down the cheeks.

In this makeup process, hot glue is extruded on a smooth surface like a plastic sheet and not applied directly to the skin.

After the glue cools down and solidifies, it is removed carefully, and fake eyelash glue is used to attach it to the face.

Japanese firm Rika Shiiki, which promotes such products, said that the trend is prevalent among secondary school girls in Japan. The trend has become so popular in Japan that it has led to a shortage of hot melt glue in a few areas.

The manufacturers of hot melt glue have issued a warning against it being used for cosmetic purposes because the chemical substance can lead to allergic reactions or skin irritation.

The trend faced a lot of criticism from Japanese as well as Chinese people who called it "ridiculous" and "bizarre" after the Chinese media shared it.

“Seriously? Are secondary school girls really into this kind of inappropriate trend now?” wrote another.&nbsp;

A rather worrying study in the UK has found that in spite of the hidden dangers, young women are flocking to social media because of FOMO.

The survey by the NGO Girlguiding had more than 2,000 respondents.

It revealed that girls and young women aged 11 to 21 face unwanted sexual images and cyberstalking when surfing the net and social media.

Even as nearly 20 per cent of the respondents said they faced online stalking, many continue to go back to these platforms, with more than half of the respondents on TikTok and Snapchat.&nbsp;More than a third saw unwanted sexual content while online.

But connectivity is not bringing any more happiness to the young girls. Half of the respondents felt uncertain about their future. Only a quarter felt confident about their lives.

And paradoxically, the feeling that online connections are strong has decreased in the past four years, meaning greater connectivity is only leading to more vulnerability for the youth.

One of the issues reported is not new: the unrealistic beauty standards pushed by social media.

A report in The Guardian quoted a Girlguiding advocate Jia,17, as saying that this pressure exacerbates feelings of judgement and comparison, causing loneliness and low self esteem.

“Being online all the time amplifies this. While we’re ‘more connected’, we’re also more exposed to judgment and comparison – through body shaming, sexist jokes, online harassment and objectification. This fuels loneliness and erodes our confidence, which only makes it harder to feel positive about the future,” the paper quoted her as saying.

The girls and young women face a number of other issues when online: 85 per cent of respondents experienced sexism. For more than 50 per cent, sexism&nbsp;happened in real life, while nearly three quarters faced it online.&nbsp;

Sexism fuels thoughts of not feeling safe, with 47 per cent of the girls feeling threatened. This is more than double the rate 10 years ago.

The silver lining of the survey is that&nbsp;44 per cent of the respondents still have hope about their futures.

Angela Salt, Girlguiding's CEO, said sexism continues to be pervasive, leaving many girls feeling vulnerable and unsafe, while noting that it was “devastating to see girls feel less confident about themselves and their futures”.

The survey was published amid plans by the UK government to classify extreme misogyny as a form of extremism.&nbsp;

Girls go online due to fear of missing out in spite of sexism, stalking, harassment on social media

A teenage boy killed his friend in the national capital after he was allegedly forced by the latter to perform unnatural sex, said Delhi police.

Speaking to news agency ANI, DCP North Manoj Kumar Meena on Monday said, "On January 19, a PCR call was received at Kashmere Gate police station. The caller stated that a body was lying in an isolated place in DDA Park, Mori Gate, and his face was crushed. The police found that an unknown body was lying unconscious in an isolated place in DDA Park, Mori Gate, Delhi, with blood on his mouth and a cut mark above his eye and blood was scattered around the body."

The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team and the crime team of North District were invited to the spot of the crime scene to inspect the place.&nbsp;

"After spot inspection, body was shifted to the hospital, where he was declared 'brought dead' by the doctor. Thereafter, the body was shifted and preserved at Mortuary 'Subzi Mandi'. Accordingly, a case u/s 302 IPC was registered at PS Kashmere Gate, and the investigation was taken up to trace the culprit," said DCP Meena.

In the investigation, more than 50 CCTV cameras, which were installed near Khoya Mandi, Mori Gate of Kashmere Gate PS, were analysed by the team but no clue was found.

The police identified the victim as Pramod Kumar Shukla, who is a resident of Village Rudurpura, District Jalon, Uttar Pradesh.&nbsp;

It was reported that he was working at Khoya Mandi in the shop of Rakesh Tomar and was living in Rain Basera, which is located at Mori Gate near Khoya Mandi, said DCP Meena.

<h2>Accused confesses killing friend, escaping arrest</h2>

The accused Rajesh Kumar, during the interrogation, confessed that the victim, Pramod Kumar Shukla was his friend and he used to pressurise him to perform unnatural sex with him which forced him to take his friend's life.

The DCP said that he along with the victim was drinking beer on January 17 at an isolated place in DDA Park&nbsp;behind Khoya Mandi.&nbsp;

He added that the victim started pressurising the accused to have unnatural sex with him after which a fight broke out between him and Pramod Kumar Shukla and he was murdered.&nbsp;

After killing him, the accused took&nbsp;₹18,500 ($222) and a keypad mobile from his pocket and also sold&nbsp;the mobile phone of the victim for ₹400 ($4.81) at Old Delhi Railway Station. The boy then went to Amritsar, Punjab, via train to escape&nbsp;arrest.&nbsp;

Despite announcing changes to its advertising rules for children in July this year, Facebook (now called Meta) is still tracking and harvesting children`s personal data to fuel their advertising delivery system, a new research has shown.

The only difference is that the kids` targeting by Facebook is `optimised` by a highly-trained artificial intelligence (AI) `Delivery System`, according to a new report by non-profits Fairplay, Global Action Plan and Reset Australia.

"The replacement of targeting `selected by advertisers` with targeting `selected by an AI delivery system` does not represent a demonstrable improvement for children in the way that Facebook characterised in their announcement and reiterated at a US Senate committee hearing," the report mentioned.

"Given the predictive power of AI, this system may in fact be worse for children," the researchers argued.

On July 27, Facebook announced changes to its advertising rules for children, claiming to have `heard from youth advocates` about these concerns. Facebook stated that "we agree with them, which is why we`re taking a more precautionary approach in how advertisers can reach young people".

This precautionary approach meant "that previously available targeting options, like those based on interests or on their activity on other apps and websites, will no longer be available to the advertisers".

The researchers said that they are calling on Facebook to go on record to correct its claims, and end surveillance advertising for children and teens across all its platforms.

"Data-driven advertising can be more misleading for children than traditional advertising and can increase commercial pressures, leading to consumerism, disappointment and parent-child conflict, all with associated consequences for mental health and wellbeing," they argued.

One estimate suggests that by the time a child turns 13, advertisers already hold over 72 million data points about him/her, and the surveillance advertising industry for children is worth in excess of $1 billion.

Facebook has faced strong international criticism for its surveillance advertising practices for children. Earlier this year, youth advocates in Australia and the US had outlined that Facebook`s targeting processes allowed advertisers to target children interested in alcohol, gambling and weight loss.

Facebook-owned Instagram had said last month that it would soon roll out two new tools to safeguard teenagers from harmful content, after whistleblower Frances Haugen testified before the US Congress that Instagram can have a negative effect on the mental health of teenagers.

The researchers stressed that Facebook`s ad delivery system continues to harvest teen data, for the sole purpose of serving them surveillance advertising, with all the associated concerns.

"Facebook must provide more transparency about the impacts of its recent rule changes in advertising to teens, and clarify if this is an improvement for children. "The replacement of targeting `selected by advertisers` with targeting `selected by an AI delivery system` does not represent a demonstrable improvement for children in the way that Facebook characterised in their announcement and reiterated at a US Senate committee hearing," the report mentioned. "Given the predictive power of AI, this system may in fact be worse for children," the researchers argued. On July 27, Facebook announced changes to its advertising rules for children, claiming to have `heard from youth advocates` about these concerns. Facebook stated that "we agree with them, which is why we`re taking a more precautionary approach in how advertisers can reach young people". This precautionary approach meant "that previously available targeting options, like those based on interests or on their activity on other apps and websites, will no longer be available to the advertisers". The researchers said that they are calling on Facebook to go on record to correct its claims, and end surveillance advertising for children and teens across all its platforms. "Data-driven advertising can be more misleading for children than traditional advertising and can increase commercial pressures, leading to consumerism, disappointment and parent-child conflict, all with associated consequences for mental health and wellbeing," they argued. One estimate suggests that by the time a child turns 13, advertisers already hold over 72 million data points about him/her, and the surveillance advertising industry for children is worth in excess of $1 billion. Facebook has faced strong international criticism for its surveillance advertising practices for children. Earlier this year, youth advocates in Australia and the US had outlined that Facebook`s targeting processes allowed advertisers to target children interested in alcohol, gambling and weight loss. Police later told reporters Fahim was a college student and was a member of banned Islamist group Hizb ut-Tahrir. 
 
Hizb ut-Tahrir (Party of Liberation) is an international group which wants to combine all Muslim countries in a unitary Islamic state. The group is outlawed in several countries, including Bangladesh. 
 
Six suspected Islamist militants have now been shot dead since Bangladesh launched a nationwide crackdown on local jihadist groups in the wake of a spike in murders of secular activists and religious minorities. 
 
The drive has seen more than 11,000 people including 194 militants arrested over the past week despite widespread criticism by local and international human rights groups.
