<p>Ganguly suffered a heart attack while working out in his regular gym session on Saturday and was rushed to the Woodlands hospital in Kolkata. The BCCI chief underwent an angioplasty operation. &nbsp;</p>

<p>However, Ganguly’s cardiac arrest was followed by a series of event on social media platforms as many accused an oil brand of which Ganguly is a brand ambassador of making false claims about healthy heart through a cricket icon. The oil advertisements were pulled off the air because of the incident. &nbsp;</p>

<p>The company said it was "a very unfortunate incident and can happen with anyone" as they confirmed a halt in the commercials.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Ganguly retired from Test cricket in 2008 having scored 7,212 runs including 16 centuries. He also scored 11,363 runs in 311 one-day internationals. The former Indian captain is now the president of BCCI. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Woodlands MD &amp; CEO Dr Rupali Basu told reporters on Monday that Ganguly is likely to be discharged from Wednesday and the former Indian captain is keeping well. Dr Basu further said that it was decided that angioplasty for two damaged coronary arteries would be done at a later date after consultation with Ganguly's family members.</p>

<p>“Our nine-member medical board met today at 11.30 am with reputed specialists on zoom platform. The consensus of the board was that deferring the angioplasty, for now, is deemed to be a safer option since Mr Ganguly is stable, without any chest pain and is on optimal medical management,” Dr Basu said at the press conference.</p>

<p>Angioplasty was successfully done on Ganguly's right coronary artery after the 48-year-old suffered a mild heart attack. Dr Basu said the other two damaged coronary arteries, too, need angioplasty but that would be done at a later date with surgery ruled out.</p>

He had family history of IHD ØE Ischemic heart disease. When he came to the hospital at 1 pm, his pulse was 70/min, BP 130/80 mm of Hg and other clinical parameters were within normal limits."&nbsp;</p>

<p>"His ECG showed hyper acute ST-segment elevation in inferior leads and lateral leads. Echo showed mild inferior wall hypokynaesia with preserved overall left ventricular function. He is stable haemodynamically. He has received loading doses of dual antiplatelets and statin and is undergoing primary angioplasty now," it added.</p>
