Google CEO Sundar Pichai's ancestral home in Chennai city of the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu was sold, according to a news report published by the Hindu Business Line. 
 
The property, which is located in Chennai's Ashok Nagar residential area, was bought by Tamil cinema actor and producer C Manikandan from Pichai's father. 
 
According to the report published by the news outlet, Manikandan was in search of a property to purchase and the moment he got the information that a house is up for sale where Pichai was once born and raised, he immediately took the decision to buy the property.

"Sundar Pichai has made our country proud, and buying the house where he lived will be a proud achievement of my life," said Manikandan. 
 
However, it took time to finalise the deal. Manikandan waited for four months since Sundar Pichai's father RS Pichai was in the United States at that time.

<h2>Spellbound by the humility of Pichai's parents</h2>

Manikandan, who is a real estate developer himself, said that around 300 homes have been built and delivered by him. He added that he was floored by the humility of Sundar Pichai's parents. 
 
"Sundar's mother made a filter coffee herself, and his father offered me the documents right at the first meeting. I was spellbound by their humility and humble approach," Manikandan was quoted as saying. 
 
Manikandan added that Sundar Pichai’s father remained insistent on not using Sundar Pichai’s name to expedite the transfer process of the property. 
 
"In fact, his father waited for hours at the registration office and paid all necessary taxes before handing over the documents to me," he added.

"Sundar's father broke down for a few minutes while handing over the documents since this was his first property,” Manikandan further stated. 
 
Sundar Pichai was born and brought up in Chennai, however, he changed city in 1989 to study metallurgical engineering in IIT Kharagpur. 
 
According to Pichai's neighbours, he stayed in this home till the age of 20. In December, the Google CEO had visited Chennai and handed cash and some household items to the security guards. 
 
"He lived in this house till the age of 20 years. He also took photographs with his family members on the balcony,” recounted the neighbour. 
 
Manikandan stated that Sundar’s father has razed the property at his own cost and gave over the plot for development.&nbsp;

After its American buyer requested it stay in the UK, the three-volume edition was placed at Chawton House, Hampshire, the former residence of the author's brother, Edward, and the current Centre for Study on Women's Literature.

It is the only presentation copy of an Austen work with a known existence, according to Peter Harrington, a rare book trader in London. The book was sent to Austen's friend Anne Sharp, the governess of Edward's children, and is inscribed by the publisher rather than the author as was customary.&nbsp;

The purchaser of this one-of-a-kind edition of Emma by Jane Austen indicated a desire for the book to remain in England, according to Pom Harrington, the owner of Peter Harrington.&nbsp;

"We’re delighted such a significant work of Jane Austen’s will take its place amongst the literary treasures in our collection,"&nbsp;said Katie Childs, chief executive of Chawton House.&nbsp;

Early in the next year, Chawton House will display the book.

It was purchased by a private European collector with a bid of $1,151,467.40. It was way more than the expected bid of $551,000, as per United Press International. &nbsp;

Dated December 7, 1959, the receipt is a part of Klein's imaginary art series ‘Zones of Immaterial Pictorial Sensibility’. In it, buyers would see vacant rooms filled with "pictorial sensibility in its pure state," as per Sotheby's. &nbsp;&nbsp;

The instrument was designed by Charles Gould for the firm Cary around 1825 and is one of six surviving microscopes associated with the British naturalist, according to auction house Christie's.

"It is just incredibly spine tingling to look through this and see the microscopic world that Darwin would have seen in the 1820s and 30s," James Hyslop, Head of Department, Scientific Instruments, Globes &amp; Natural History, at Christie’s, told Reuters.

"Later in his life in 1858, there's a wonderful letter that he writes to his eldest son saying young Lenny was dissecting at his microscope and he said 'Oh Papa, I should be so glad of this for my whole life'. It's wonderful to have that family connexion of Charles Darwin just before he becomes internationally famous."

Darwin published his groundbreaking work "On the Origin of Species" in 1859.

The microscope will be offered at Christie's Valuable Books &amp; Manuscripts auction on December&nbsp;15, and has a price estimate of 250,000 - 350,000 pounds ($343,050 - $480,270).

Goa police have arrested a 32-year-old woman for allegedly selling her 11-month-old son for Rs two lakh.

Shaila Patil, the mother of the child, alleged buyer Amar Morje (32) and Patil's friends Yogesh Gosawi (42) and Anant Damaji (34) who helped her strike the deal were arrested yesterday after her husband lodged a complaint.

Inspector Harish Madkaikar of Ponda police station, who is investigating the case, said Patil allegedly sold the child keeping her husband in the dark as she needed money.

All the accused live in Pernem tehsil. Shaila Patil is originally from Pune.

She asked her friends Gosawi and Damaji to help her sell her baby son, saying she badly needed Rs two lakh.

Gosawi and Damaji contacted Morje, who is married but childless and was allegedly willing to buy a baby.

The child was handed over to Morje on March 23, the police officer said.

Patil's husband was away at the time. He found out what had happened on his return, and approached police, inspector Madkaikar said.

Police have registered a case under anti-trafficking provisions of the Indian Penal Code, he said.

Also, on Friday the Wadala TT police probing a baby-selling racket on Thursday received the DNA paternity test report of biological fathers of two babies sold by the parents.&nbsp;

The police had arrested many people, including a couple, for selling their 7-day boy to a child trafficker for Rs 20,000. The father, an accused in the case, told the police that he sold his son so he could repay a loan of Rs one lakh.
