FIR No. 02/2026 and FIR No. 03/2026 have been lodged under Sections 197(1)(d) and 353(1)(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Cyber Police Station in Srinagar. <p>Indian Express newspaper&nbsp;quoting sources reported, "After the violence on July 31, Nuh police had been regularly scanning social media posts for objectionable content. In one such case, a person was found putting up a series of objectionable posts.</p>

<p>"Tracing those posts, raids were conducted at certain locations and the person was apprehended. He was found to be Monu Manesar who was using a fictitious name to upload objectionable posts."&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Ongoing investigation</strong></h2>

<p>Authorities continue to investigate the case, delving deeper into the circumstances surrounding Manesar's social media activities. There is also a possibility of transfer of Monu Manesar to police of the neighbouring Rajasthan state.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The decision to transfer Monu Manesar to the jurisdiction of the Rajasthan Police will hinge on court directives. Notably, Rajasthan police is investigating his involvement in the murders of cousins Junaid (35) and Nasir (27).&nbsp;</p>

<p>Rajasthan SP Bharatpur, Mridul Kachawa told ANI news agency, "We have received information that Haryana Police has detained Monu Manesar, who is wanted in Nasir and Junaid (lynching) case. Haryana Police is carrying out its further procedure and our officers are in contact with them. When their procedure completes, (our) District Police will begin theirs."</p>

<p>Mushtaq Ahmed was among four people detained last May after he criticised the government's handling of the coronavirus pandemic.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The 53-year-old, a crocodile farmer who became a well-known government critic, was charged with spreading rumours and conducting "anti-state activities" on Facebook.</p>

<p>Jail authorities told AFP he died on Thursday evening after passing out at a high-security jail outside of the capital Dhaka.</p>

<p>Ahmed had not been suffering from any major illness, said prison chief Mohammad Ghiasuddin.</p>

<p>"We saw him taking only gastric tablets," he added.</p>

<p>Hundreds of people rallied in Dhaka on Friday to condemn Ahmed's death, while his lawyer Jyotirmoy Barua demanded an independent investigation.</p>

<p>Ahmed's prosecution under the country's Digital Security Act was an example of the "worst form of repression", said Saad Hammadi of Amnesty International.</p>

<p>"No one should have to die solely for exercising their right to freedom of expression," he added.</p>

<p>Around 2,000 cases have been filed under the law since it was enacted by the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in 2018, according to Amnesty.</p>

<p>Many of the country's leading editors and senior journalists have been targeted for prosecution under the law, it added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists demanded "a swift, transparent, and independent investigation" into Ahmed's death.</p>
