So far, Y Combinator’s Garry Tan, Sequoia Capital’s Ravi Gupta and other prominent venture capitalists have also pulled out of the conference in support of Israel.

Under the deal, the German Engineering company will deliver around 1,200 electric locomotives and provide service for 35 years under the agreement, which is the biggest ever in India.

Siemens has designed 9,000 horsepower trains with a top speed of 120 km/hr that will be assembled in India's Railways Factory in Gujarat over the next 11 years, with deliveries starting in the next 24 months.

As stated by Siemens mobility CEO Michael Peter in a press note, the new locomotives would easily be able to replace 500,000 to 800,000 trucks over their lifecycle.

According to Michael Peter, who spoke to Reuters, the contract was a significant move for Siemens in India. He noted that the business had previously been very strong in rolling stock in North America and central Europe but mostly provided components and infrastructure in India.

"India is looking for technology, better efficiency, and a longer lifespan for its trains," he said in an interview. "In the past, India built their own trains, but they want to increase reliability and average speeds."

Keeping demand in mind, New Delhi is keen on increasing freight transport to 40-45 per cent from its current 27 per cent, while Siemens seeks this opportunity to increase its revenue, which is touted to rise 6 to 9 per cent.

That India deal comes as another bumper contract for the German Engineering company, which signed a deal with Australia in December.

Some details of the alleged scheme in China were included in a shareholder lawsuit against current and former members of GE's board in New York state court, which the company disclosed in its 2018 annual report.

The GE shareholder lawsuit, filed in New York state Supreme Court last December, alleges that since at least 2011 GE employees in China or workers at its subsidiaries "have bribed hospital administrators, engaged in collusive bidding, and given kickbacks to government officials."

The lawsuit includes translations of Chinese criminal court rulings finding middlemen who sold GE equipment guilty of bribing Chinese government and hospital officials. Some hospital administrators confessed in open court and received prison sentences, according to rulings cited in the lawsuit. GE was not charged in the Chinese court rulings included as evidence.

The lawsuit accuses GE of colluding with Philips, Siemens and Toshiba Corp's medical unit - which was bought by Canon Inc in 2016 - to fix prices and rig tenders for expensive medical equipment, such as MRI machines and CT scanners, through Chinese middlemen.

The lawsuit included public data on how many Chinese hospitals paid for the equipment, which it said was routinely at least 40 per cent above the price the middlemen paid to the companies.

The difference was then distributed as bribes to health officials, the lawsuit alleges, with some money being pocketed by the middlemen and flowing back to the other companies, who allegedly put in "cover" bids to make the public tender appear competitive.

Lawyers for GE in February filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit, saying the complaint failed to link alleged wrongdoing in China to any of the defendants. The judge in the case has not yet ruled on the motion.

Lawyers for the plaintiffs did not respond to emailed requests for comment.

Boston-based GE said in an emailed statement that it believes the lawsuit lacks merit, adding that "we are committed to integrity, compliance and the rule of law in every country in which we do business."

US SEC probes Siemens, GE, Philips in alleged China medical equipment scheme: Report

German industrial group&nbsp;Siemens&nbsp;expects to update software in some of its medical scanners by the end of the month to deal with vulnerabilities that could, in theory, allow some of this equipment to be hacked, a company spokesman said on Monday.

Last week, the US Department of Homeland Security issued a security notice warning that &quot;an attacker with a low skill would be able to exploit these vulnerabilities&quot; using known weaknesses that exist in older Windows software.&nbsp;

The&nbsp;Siemens&nbsp;spokesman said no evidence of any attack had been found.

Siemens&#39; action provides more evidence of a growing focus on preventing cyber attacks on medical equipment, which for years ranked low on the list of potential hacking targets.

The vulnerabilities identified by&nbsp;Siemens&nbsp;were in its PET (positron emission tomography) scanners that run on Microsoft Windows 7, which could be exploited remotely.

PET scanners help to reveal how tissues and organs are functioning by using a radioactive drug to trace activity. They can reveal or assess cancer, heart disease, and brain disorders.

Initially, the Munich-based company advised hospital and other medical customers to disconnect the scanners until an update was released.

But the company spokesman said on Monday that after further review, it no longer believed disconnecting the scanners was necessary.

Siemens&nbsp;has assigned a security severity rating of 9.8 out of 10, using the open industry standard CVSS (Common Vulnerability Scoring System) risk assessment system, according to the US&nbsp;security notice.
