<p>The over-a-minute-long video, posted on Uttar Pradesh BJP&#39;s Twitter handle sarcastically retorts to Siddaramaiah&#39;s recent statement about him being a Hindu, and shows pictures of 12 Hindus, who were killed in the last two to three years in Karnataka.</p>

<p>Last week, the Supreme Court had indicated that it would deliver within a month its verdict on the decades-old water dispute between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, saying enough confusion had been created on it for over two decades.</p>

<p>A bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud had said that any forum could touch the matter relating to the Cauvery basin only after it gave the verdict in four weeks.</p>

<p>On the Mahadayi river dispute, Siddarmaiah said a meeting would be called to resolve the matter at the earliest. The affected states will also be invited, he said.</p>

<p>The dispute over the sharing of water of the Mahadayi or Mandovi river between the states of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Goa is over 30 years old.&nbsp;</p>

Siddaramaiah refuses to release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu

<p>PTI reported one death from Jamakhandi Taluk in Bagalkote district after a gravely-ill woman was taken to a private hospital, where there was allegedly no one to attend to her.</p>

<p>She was rushed to a government hospital but died on the way, her family said.</p>

<p>ANI reported another death at a private hospital in Dharwad where a 24-year-old allegedly died due to a delay in treatment in the wake of the statewide private doctors&#39; strike.&nbsp;</p>

<p>News reports had earlier reported that as many as six people had died in the past week as a result of the strike. Bengaluru&#39;s private doctors had joined the strike Thursday.</p>

<p>The doctors are protesting against proposed amendments to the Karnataka Private Medical Establishments Act, 2007.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Jayachandra added said that the policy will cover areas of health, education, employment, housing, protection from harassment and abuse.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Punjab&#39;s Congress chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh had last week <a href="http://www.wionews.com/preview/article/17024">announced</a> total waiver of entire crop loans up to Rs. 2 lakh for small and marginal farmers up to five&nbsp;acres, and a flat Rs. 2 lakh relief for all other marginal farmers, irrespective of their loan amount.</p>

<p>BJP&#39;s Maharashtra government is also planning to announce a loan waiver before October 31, which is expected to benefit about 1.07 crore farmers with less than five acres of land.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Earlier in June, the Reserve Bank of India governor Urjit Patel had said that unless the budgets of the state governments allow the fiscal space to waive off loans, it would be a risky path to tread on.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Past episodes in our country had shown that when there are significant fiscal slippages they do permeate to inflation sooner or later. So, it is a path that we need to tread very carefully and before it gets out of hand,&rdquo; he said.</p>
