The guards tried to keep him safe because he obviously had a target on his back after the case was such big news. Something like this was always on the cards, and an attack was probably only a matter of time."&nbsp;

Justice Cavanagh on Tuesday (Dec 17) described the treatment of Sara as "torture" and condemned the defendants for not showing a "shred of remorse".

Sara's father has been sentenced to a minimum of 40 years in prison for murder, her stepmother Beinash Batool, 30, received a minimum of 33 years, and her uncle Faisal Malik received 16 years of prison sentence for causing or allowing her death.

Sara was found dead at her home in the southern United Kingdom town of Woking, Surrey on August 10 &nbsp;– a day after the couple fled Britain. Since then, the Surrey Police have been after the girl’s parents in relation to a murder investigation.

A post-mortem test revealed that the 10-year-old had sustained “multiple and extensive injuries” over a “sustained and extended” period of time.&nbsp;

<h2>Charges against the trio</h2>

In a statement, the Surrey police said that the trio has also been charged with causing or allowing the death of a child. They were arrested on Wednesday (Sep 13) from London’s Gatwick Airport, said the British police, after the three adults along with five children had been hiding in Pakistan since August 9.&nbsp;

<h2>About the case</h2>

Last month, Urfan arrived in Pakistan and called 999 in the UK to report that his daughter was dead at his home in Woking after which the couple, five other children, aged between one and 13, and his brother, Faisal Malik, 28, went underground.&nbsp;

The arrests came days after Sara’s father and stepmother released a video claiming they are willing to cooperate with British authorities.&nbsp;

“Two men, aged 41 years and 28 years, and a woman aged 29 years were arrested on suspicion of murder after disembarking a flight from Dubai,” the Surrey police said on Wednesday.&nbsp;

<h2>Five children placed in Pakistan govt childcare facility</h2>

It was previously believed that Urfan’s five other children, aged between one and 13, were with the trio but it was not until Monday (Sep 11) that the children were recovered from Urfan’s father, Muhammad Sharif’s home, in the northern city of Jhelum in Pakistan by the country’s police.&nbsp;

However, the ruling did not mention how long they would be kept in the government facility or where they would ultimately be sent.&nbsp;

In the video, Batool read from a notebook and described Sara’s death as “an incident” and said the family is willing to cooperate with British authorities.&nbsp;

Batool also expressed concern for the family's safety, saying they had been forced into "hiding".

In an interview with the Polish television programme "Uwaga!", Sara's mother, Olga Sharif, shared the distressing account of her visit to see her daughter's body in a mortuary.

Last month, Urfan arrived in Pakistan and called 999 in the UK to report that his daughter was dead at his home in Woking after which the couple, five other children, aged between one and 13, and his brother, Faisal Malik, 28, went underground, until today.&nbsp;

The 10-year-old’s grandfather told the BBC that the five children who had come to Pakistan with Sara’s father had been taken by police.

Nasir Mehmood Bajwa, a district police officer in Pakistan confirmed this and said, “Police with a heavy contingent on Monday evening raided Sharif’s residence in Jhelum and recovered five children. They are healthy and in good condition,” as quoted by the Guardian.&nbsp;

A BBC report citing a neighbour said, “Police officers, including female officers, raided the house. They broke the CCTV at the entrance and entered it. While inside, more officers arrived outside and stopped the traffic. They stopped everyone from filming on their mobile phones.”

Muhammad said he had been hiding the children in his home in Jhelum since their arrival on August 10. “Since they came from the UK, I didn’t let them go,” Sara’s grandfather told the BBC.&nbsp;

“I told Urfan and Beinash that they can go wherever they want to, but I will not let the children go with you. Until today, no one had asked me about the children,” he added.&nbsp;

He also said that the officials up until Monday had been asking only about Urfan, Faisal and Beinash but not the children and has repeatedly denied being in touch with his son and the family.&nbsp;

Muhammad earlier told AFP that the couple stayed at the family’s Kashmir home for two days when they arrived in Pakistan. “The Pakistani police have been harassing us for the past three weeks,” the 68-year-old told the news agency.&nbsp;

Jhelum police chief told the BBC the allegations of harassment and torture of family members are false.

<h2>Surrey Police to step in?</h2>

The Surrey Police, in a statement, on Monday said that they were aware that children had been found by Pakistani officers and are working with Surrey County Council and international partners, including the Interpol to figure out what to do next.&nbsp;

Police believe the trio fled to Pakistan before Sara’s body was found after her father made an emergency call shortly after landing in Islamabad, to take refuge with family members there. &nbsp;

This was the first time that Sharif and his partner Batool talked about Sara in a low-quality footage in which Batool can be seen reading from a notebook while Sharif remains silent.&nbsp;

<h2>Sara’s parents said they are willing to co-operate with British authorities&nbsp;</h2>

Batool spoke only two sentences on Sara, terming her death as an ‘incident’. Batool ends the video saying that they are willing to co-operate with the UK authorities to fight their case.

The video was sent to the BBC but they were unable to verify their account. Nor they were able to verify the conditions under which the video was recorded or the location, said BBC.

Batool said, "Firstly, I would like to talk about Sara. Sara's death was an incident. Our family in Pakistan are severely affected by all that is going on. Imran (another of Sharif's brothers) did not give a statement that Sara fell down the stairs and broke her neck. This was spread through a Pakistani media outlet. I am very worried about Imran's safety."

She went on, "All of our family members have gone into hiding as everyone is scared for their safety. The kids are unable to attend school as they're afraid to leave the house. No one is leaving the house.”

In response to Batool’s allegations, Jhelum police chief Mehmood Bajwa told the BBC the allegations of harassment and torture of family members are false. He said if the family had any fears from the police they could go to court to seek protection.

The child was found dead after officers were called from Pakistan by her dad, Urfan Sharif, who is thought to have travelled to Islamabad on August 9 and police have been unable to contact them since.&nbsp;
