"The results are depressing for the Uttar Pradesh Congress. I find myself guilty of not discharging my responsibility in a proper manner," Babbar tweeted on Friday.

In Odisha, the chief of Congress' state unit Niranjan Patnaik announced resignation from his post. &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;"I have sent my resignation to AICC President (Rahul Gandhi) owning moral responsibility for the party's poor show in both Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in the state," Patnaik said.

While the Congress won only one Lok Sabha seat and nine assembly seats in Odisha, Patnaik also faced defeat in the assembly polls.

Admitting that the Congress had failed to win the confidence of the people, Patnaik said, "The party needs to take concrete steps to set the organisation in proper shape by getting rid of opportunists and attracting youths into its fold."

He said that a committee, headed by senior leader Narasingha Mishra, has been set up to ascertain the reason behind the drubbing suffered by the Congress in Odisha.

The chief of Congress's campaign committee in Karnataka too has offered to resign taking moral responsibility for party's drubbing in the state.

Sealing its phenomenal electoral victory, the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-general-elections-2019/lok-sabha-election-result-2019-pm-modi-thanks-world-leaders-sportspersons-and-celebrities-for-their-wishes-on-twitter-221240">Narendra Modi-led BJP</a> crossed the 300 mark and was leading in one seat as counting for votes for 542 Lok Sabha seats neared its end on Friday.

BJP’s Delhi unit on Monday filed a criminal defamation case against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other members of AAP for allegedly blaming it for the deletion of names of lakhs of voters from the electoral roll in the national capital.

Apart from Kejriwal, AAP Member of Rajya Sabha Sushil Kumar Gupta, MLA Manoj Kumar and AAP spokesperson Atishi Malena have been named in the case.

Chief Minister Kejriwal had alleged that the names of 30 lakh voters had been deleted from the electoral rolls in Delhi.

“Not 40k. Total 30 lakh votes deleted. 4 lakh Baniyas, 8 lakh Muslims, 15 lakh Poorvanchalis and 3 lakh rest,” Kejriwal had tweeted on December 6 last year.

While contending that the matter of adding or removing voters from the electoral rolls is the Elections Commission’s responsibility and not of any political party, the BJP stated that the allegations by the AAP are “unfortunate and false.”&nbsp;

Latching on to the remark of Congress leader Raj Babbar on the Naxal movement in poll-bound Chhattisgarh, BJP chief Amit Shah Sunday asked Congress president Rahul Gandhi to make clear his party's stand on Naxalism.

Shah also claimed that Babbar had described Naxalism as a "revolution".

Addressing a public meeting in Ambagarh Chowki town in Rajnandgaon district, Shah said, "A Congress leader yesterday described Naxalism as a revolution and said that Maoists were engaged in revolution.

"I want to ask the Congress chief to make his stand clear on Naxalism. Your leader called it a revolution. What is your stand?"

Shah was referring to the remarks made by Uttar Pradesh Congress president Raj Babbar during a press conference held in Raipur Saturday, when he had said Naxals had launched a "revolution" which cannot be stopped through guns, and the menace should be resolved through talks.

When Babbar was asked whether he was suggesting Naxals were revolutionaries, he had said, "I want to clarify that I said the issue can be solved through talks with those who call themselves revolutionaries by indulging in acts of terrorism."

On Sunday, the BJP chief campaigned in Khujji Assembly constituency, which will go to polls in the first phase on November 12.

Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded Hirendra Sahu from Khujji seat.

"Revolution does not come through Naxalism. Revolution does not come by indulging in the act of violence and by bullets or bombs (but) revolution takes place when cattle were distributed to poor women to bring white revolution and milk revolution," Shah said.

He hailed Raman Singh, who is seeking a fourth straight term as chief minister, for "bringing revolution" in the state through welfare measures.

"When our 'chawal wale baba' (as the CM is popularly known) provides rice at Rs 2 per kg to the poor people then it is a revolution...When farmers sweat in their farms and get a good return on their produce, then it is revolution," he said.

Playing on Babbar's remarks, Shah said Rahul Gandhi didnt's understand revolution.

"You (Gandhi) don't know what is revolution. I want to tell people that the Congress consider Naxalism as revolution, but the BJP sees revolution in development," said the BJP chief.

"Rahul baba Chhattisgarh was under the grip of Naxalism during your time (when the Congress government was in power from 2000 to 2003). Putting his life at stake,

Raman Singh has destroyed the Naxalites and flushed them out from the state (during the last 15 years of the BJP rule)," he said.

Taking a dig at the Congress chief, Shah said Gandhi considers Chhattisgarh as a "tourist spot" where he comes for a picnic.

"Sometimes I see Rahul baba here. Chhattisgarh is not more than a tourist place for him. He comes here for a picnic. Rahul baba used to say 'Made in Chhattisgarh' should take place here.

"Rahul your government was in power (at Centre) for 55 years. Your government ruled right from panchayat to parliament for 55 years, but what development took place in Chhattisgarh," he asked.

Shah said development was ushered in by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"Today, handicraft items made by tribal women are being sold at airports through the initiative of the prime minister," he said.

Shah said Chhattisgarh has become a power-surplus state under Raman Singh and supplying electricity to other states. "Chhattisgarh is among top states in cement and aluminium production," he said.

When Ajit Jogi, first chief minister of Congress in Chhattisgarh from 2000-2003, was in power, the budget of the state stood at Rs 9,000 crore, which has increased to Rs 83,180 crore under the BJP government, which is in power in the state since 2003, he said.

"No state in the country has witnessed a 10-fold rise in its budget, but the Chhattisgarh BJP government has done this during the last 15 years," he added.

Shah is scheduled to address two more rallies in Khairagarh and Kondagaon assembly constituencies&nbsp;on Sunday.

Eighteen of the total 90 assembly constituencies in eight Naxal-affected districts in Chhattisgarh will go to polls on November 12 and rest in the second phase on November 20.

Counting of votes will be held on December 11.&nbsp;

UP Congress chief Raj Babbar clears resignation rumours

Resignations in the Congress have begun ahead of party President Rahul Gandhi&#39;s announcement of his new team.&nbsp;

Actor-politician Raj Babbar has quit as chief of the party&#39;s UP unit; Shantaram Naik has quit as Goa Congress chief.&nbsp;

News reports added that Gujarat Congress chief Bharatsinh Solanki is also believed to have tendered his resignation to the party&#39;s central leadership. The reports added that a number of further resignations are expected.&nbsp;

The reports added that a number of further resignations are expected. The nudge had come from Rahul himself, with the Congress President saying recently that it was time for the old-timers to step aside. Naik, who quit first, said he was following Rahul's advice. A change of guard in the Congress has been talked about for close to forever now — ever since Rahul was anointed party vice-president in January 2013 — with people in the know saying the changeover was filling the party's old-timers with dread. These latest resignations, of Naik and Babbar, then are being thought of as the first in a long list to come. -- Did you try to reach out to this group on your own when the protests began?&nbsp;

-- There are murmurs that you are not ready for cuts as you feel these protests might help your movie?&nbsp;

-- You are also an Indian. You know how sensitive these things can become. Why don&rsquo;t you sit with the other side -- if required this committee would recommend to ministers that they should mediate a meeting between you and the protestors. Are you open to the idea?&nbsp;

While taking a dig at Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh&#39;s remark on Kashmir, the Congress Party on Monday said that it is the pet dialogue of the ruling dispensation, adding that until it changes its &#39;Hindu rashtra&#39; mindset, the incumbent government would not be able to succeed at finding a solution to Kashmir.

Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar slammed the Centre for being unable to do anything for solving the &#39;Kashmir&#39; problem in the past three years.

&quot;I hope they do but I just cannot believe that they will be able to succeed because until fundamentally they change their mindset and not attempt to establish a &#39; Hindu rashtra&#39; by fair means or fowl, they cannot find a solution to Kashmir,&quot; Aiyar told ANI.

&quot;Certainly, nothing that they have done in the last three years gives any indication that they have any idea at all as to how to solve the problem. They certainly know how to aggravate it,&quot; he added.

Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Raj Babbar also spoke on the same lines, mocking the government for only speaking but being unable to show the same in their actions.

Babbar further said that the Centre&#39;s foreign policy, security policy and policy towards Pakistan is a complete &quot;failure&quot;.

&quot;They have two pet dialogues. One, this is age-old problem. They say this regarding everything, be it law and order, border policy, foreign policy etc. Second, this is condemnable and a befitting reply will be given soon. Assuring complete closure of the Kashmir issue on behalf of the government, Rajnath Singh yesterday made a strong statement that Kashmir, Kashmiris and Kashmiriyat belong to India.

&quot;We understand that Kashmir, Kashmiris and Kashmiriyat are ours. I assure you that we will come up with a permanent solution to end the issue,&quot; he said while addressing a gathering in Pelling, Sikkim.

In the hope of resolving the ongoing friction between India and Pakistan regarding territorial disputes in Kashmir, the Union Home Minister said it is time for Islamabad to mend its ways and come to a consensus on the issue, rather than prolonging the same.

&quot;Pakistan continues to carry out acts of violence in the name of Kashmir, just to destabilise us. It is time for Pakistan to end these and look into resolving the matter and extending cooperation,&quot; said Rajnath.

Developing on the importance of easing tensions along the border, Rajnath while drawing upon the reduction of border transgression with China, said Pakistan was invited to maintain friendly relations and not just bilateral ties.

&quot;There might be perceptional differences, but the border friction with China has declined now. Pakistan Prime Minister was invited to the oath-taking ceremony not just to join hands, but to be cordial hereafter,&quot; he said.
