As per the report, the teen sent the video to his friends on WhatsApp.&nbsp;The incident took place in Vidal Ramos city in the southern Brazilian state of Santa Catarina.

<h2>Police investigate killing of puppies</h2>

On October 17, the footage of the incident went viral and came to the attention of the Santa Catarina Police and a unit was dispatched to the home of the teenager.&nbsp;

"The father was working at the time the police arrived at the scene," said police captain Armo Senem, while speaking to CNN Brasil.&nbsp;

"As the video was from an earlier date, there was no evidence of the incident, but a report was filed to the Civil Police," he added.&nbsp;

Senem said that it is not known if the teenager made the decision to kill the puppies on his own or whether someone else had influenced him.&nbsp;

Since the boy is a minor, he cannot be arrested and charged by the authorities.&nbsp;

However, since the boy is between the age of 12 and 18, the police said can be held responsible for his actions and get subjected to socio-educational measures as per the&nbsp;Child and Adolescent Statute.

The National Parks Board (NParks), which described the case as "one of the most serious cases of animal smuggling to date," claimed that one puppy was discovered dead and that 18 other canines died from canine parvovirus infection,&nbsp;Channel News Asia reported.&nbsp;

As per reports,&nbsp;Gobysuwaran Paraman Sivan was given a prison term for bringing in pets without a permit and inflicting unnecessary distress on the animals.

On October 18, 2022, he smuggled 26 puppies and a kitten&nbsp;into Malaysia aboard a lorry.

According to NParks, immigration police stopped a truck with a Malaysian licence at Tuas Checkpoint, on the Singapore side of the bridge connecting southern Peninsular Malaysia, and found the 27 pets stashed in various truck compartments.

Officers discovered some animals hidden in the vehicle's overhead compartment, inside of laundry bags.

As&nbsp;per the&nbsp;findings of the investigation, there were more&nbsp;animals crammed into plastic containers behind the driver's and passenger's seats.

NParks and partner agencies have detected 19 cases of animal smuggling between October 2022 and March 2023.

All dogs are susceptible to the extremely contagious canine parvovirus, however puppies under four months old and unvaccinated canines are particularly at risk, as per the Aerican Veterinary Medical Association.&nbsp;

When the courier was found, the crate was full of "screams of puppies and kittens", an animal rescue centre said.

"If the door is closed then there is no air circulation at all, so they can only be suffocated!," the centre explained.

Social media took upon themselves to unravel these "mystery blind boxes" and discovered that many people are offering to buy live pets online by posting advertisements such as "very cute purebreed cats and dogs" which are available as cheap as $1.50 (9.9RMB).

Selling live pets through courier is illegal in China, however, that does not seem to stop the locals from playing with the lives of animals.

"This is not a 'cute' novelty, nor is it a toy that you can throw away once you're bored. Pet blind boxes make me feel that this society is even more terrifying and crazy," a social media user wrote.
