"They want to kill us and they have the freedom to kill, there's an order for them to kill us," Ana Mendez, 55, told AFP.&nbsp;

"That's why they killed us in El Alto and now here they're going to kill us."

Senate President Eva Copa, a member of Morales's Movement for Socialism party, urged "the armed forces and&nbsp;the police&nbsp;to let our dead rest in peace... it's not fair that they launch this type of gas&nbsp;on&nbsp;people carrying caskets."

Thousands of people lined the street, cheering the protesters as they made their way towards La Paz. Women wearing flouncy "pollera" skirts cried as they punched their fists in the air.&nbsp;

Others tossed flower petals&nbsp;on&nbsp;the coffins.

The killings have deepened divisions between indigenous people loyal to ex-president Evo Morales, who resigned amid allegations of electoral fraud, and&nbsp;Bolivia's mainly city-dwelling middle and upper classes.

Now, along with his dark baseball cap and the ring in his ear, he wears a black eye patch.

Builder Cesar Callozo, 35, <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/chile-to-amend-constitution-a-key-demand-of-protesters-261376">was hit in the eye</a> while playing the drum along with fellow musicians in the Plaza Italia, in central Santiago.

"There was a very nice atmosphere. All at once I felt something hit my eye and I fell to the ground," he says, on the verge of tears as he waits for a checkup on his right eye at the Salvador Hospital in Santiago.

"It hurt. I writhed on the ground a bit. Then the pain receded and my face went numb. I stood up and yelled out that they wouldn't defeat me."

"They tried to put out the flames by pouring petrol on them," he says. "And the people are still in the street, calling for dignity."

Mauricio Lopez, an eye trauma doctor at the hospital, says the blindings are like "an epidemic."

"I have been working as an eye doctor for 20 years and I don't think anything like this has ever happened in the history of Chile."

Human rights groups and the Chile Medical College believe more people have suffered eye injuries during the protests in Chile than in the "yellow vest" riots in France or the recent protests in Hong Kong.

The demonstrators on the main island were gathering at Victoria Park in the Causeway Bay shopping district to march to the hilly, narrow streets of the Lan Kwai Fong bar district above Central, the scene of a deadly New Year's stampede nearly 27 years ago.

Police have banned the march and said they would close roads, including the short Lan Kwai Fong street itself, until Friday morning to "facilitate the public celebrating." It was not immediately clear how they would distinguish between party-goers and protesters.

It is the first time protesters have targeted the party district in five months of increasingly violent, anti-government unrest. Typically, weekends and celebrations like Halloween see hordes of revellers spilling out of the bars and clubs on to the streets.

The Scotland Yard on Wednesday banned protesters from assembling outside the Indian High Commission here on October 27 amid reports of the planned protest by pro-Pakistani groups on the said date.

The restrictions have been imposed under Section 14 of the Public Order Act 1986 and forbid the protesters from taking the procession to the area outside Indian High Commission, reported Geo News.

The development comes after British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Wednesday insisted in the parliament that "violence and intimidation are wholly unacceptable", in response to a question by an MP over reports of the planned protest. Johnson had added that Home Secretary Priti Patel would be speaking to the police to address the matter.

"This is a police matter, but I was speaking to my Home Secretary and she will be raising it to the police. But we must all be clear in this house that violence and intimidation anywhere are wholly unacceptable," he said.

The October 27 Diwali protest is the third in line outside the Indian High Commission in London after the Indian government's move to revoke Article 370 of the Constitution that accorded special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

The protest on August 15 had seen pro-Pakistani protesters throwing water bottles, tomatoes, eggs, amongst other things, at the Indians who had gathered outside the diplomatic mission to celebrate Independence Day.&nbsp;
