All India Football Federation (AIFF) on Tuesday (Apr 2) suspended its executive committee member and general secretary of the Himachal Pradesh Football Association, Deepak Sharma, from all football-related activities with immediate effect.&nbsp;

Sharma was arrested by the Goa police over the weekend over a complaint that he physically&nbsp;assaulted two women footballers.&nbsp;

“The AIFF is determined to promote women’s football in a safe and enabling environment and will take all necessary steps to ensure this,” Kalyan Chaubey, the president of AIFF, said in a statement.

Apart from suspending Sharma, AIFF has also dissolved the ad-hoc committee constituted to investigate the incident. The governing body for football has now referred the matter to an independent disciplinary committee.&nbsp;

“The incident in Goa during IWL 2, should not be amplified to undermine the AIFF’s developmental efforts in women’s football. The particular case has now been referred to the Disciplinary Committee and will be taken up emergently," Chaubey added.&nbsp;

Anonymous death treats were issued against Cho online, forcing the authorities to add more police officers and surveillance cameras around his home.

Public anger has surged in recent months as the date of Cho’s release approached. On Wednesday, the National Assembly passed a bill, nicknamed the “Cho Doo-soon law,” which banned people convicted of sexually assaulting minors from leaving their homes at night or during hours when students commute to and from school. The law also bans such sex offenders from going near schools.

South Korean courts have long been accused of leniency in meting out justice to white-collar criminals and sex offenders.

In April, a 24-year-old man named Son Jong-woo was released from prison after completing an 18-month sentence for running one of the world’s biggest child pornography websites. In July, a local court rejected the U.S. Justice Department’s request to have him extradited to face money-laundering and other charges in an American court.

Women’s rights advocates have said the justice system’s inability to properly punish sex offenders has allowed sexual abuse to proliferate nationwide.

The Justice Ministry had not revealed from which prison Cho would be released on Saturday or at what time. The police promised round-the-clock monitoring. Cho was seen wearing an electronic ankle monitor when he left prison on Saturday and was ordered to wear it for seven years. His whereabouts and photograph will be available on a government website for registered sex offenders.

The police also installed a monitoring system at his home and will make random visits there to check on him. They also have added 35 surveillance cameras, brighter streetlights and police booths in Cho’s neighborhood to monitor his movements and also deter people who have threatened to attack him. Police officers specially trained in martial arts will patrol his neighborhood.

Cho, wearing a cap and mask, did not respond to questions shouted by reporters on Saturday. But Ko Jeong-dae, a Justice Ministry official assigned to supervise Cho during his post-prison life, said Cho was surprised by the rage directed at him.

“While we were moving in the car, he told me he hadn’t expected this,” Ko told reporters in a briefing. “He said he had committed an unpardonable atrocity and he would live in repentance for the rest of his life.”

The last rites of the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/all-demands-of-unnao-rape-victims-family-accepted-lucknow-commissioner-266937">Unnao rape victim</a> were conducted by her family amidst heavy security on Sunday, after receiving assurance from the administration that all their demands will be met.

Cabinet ministers in the Uttar Pradesh government Swami Prasad Maurya and Kamal Rani Varun also arrived in Unnao to meet the bereaved family and attend the last rites of the deceased. 
 
"We are committed to punishing the culprits and we, including the Chief Minister, are standing in solidarity with the bereaved family. We will do anything to punish the culprits, a fast track court has been set up to nail them," Maurya told reporters here. 
 
The minister also urged the Opposition parties to stop politicising the matter of the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/unnao-rape-case-government-gives-rs-25-lakh-compensation-to-victims-family-trial-in-fast-track-court-266837">death of the Unnao rape victim</a>. 
 
Earlier, the Uttar Pradesh administration had said that all the demands of the victim's family have been accepted. 
 
Lucknow Divisional Commissioner Mukesh Meshram said that they held talks with the victim's family and assured them of all possible help and assistance. 
 
"Whatever their demands,&nbsp;that case should be put to trial in fast track court so that culprits are given strictest punishment on time...apart from that, the family of the deceased victim is poor, and their resources are very limited. We would provide them facilities which can be sanctioned by the government," Meshram said while speaking to reporters here. 
 
The administration had also assured of giving round the clock protection to the victim's sister and issuance of an arms license to her brother based on their demands and apart from this the family's demand to meet Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had also been accepted. 
 
Along with these, Meshram, during the course of his meeting with the victim's family, had also assured two houses under Prime Minister Awas Yojna to them. 
 
After battling for life at Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital, the victim, <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/with-86-rape-cases-in-unnao-up-justice-minister-vows-not-to-spare-culprits-266778">who was set ablaze</a> while on her way to a court hearing on Thursday morning, died at 11:40 pm on Friday. 
 
The 23-year-old was airlifted from Lucknow's SMC Government Hospital to Delhi for treatment at Safdarjung Hospital on Thursday. 
 
According to the police, the five accused had allegedly thrown kerosene on the woman and set her ablaze when she was on her way to a local court for the hearing of the case she had filed in March.
